Barbara4003
24-09-2009, 10:48 AM
Now, I may be missing something here, but I've just been scouting around for a recipe for the cake, and found this one:

175g butter, softened
175g caster sugar
3 medium eggs, beaten
175g self-raising flour
50g chopped walnuts
4 tbsp lemon curd

Icing:
300g icing sugar
30ml very strong coffee
1 tbsp clear honey
Walnut halves, to decorate

Method
1.Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4. Butter and line 2 x 20cm sandwich cake tins.
2.Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Gradually add the beaten eggs, with a little flour. Sift in the remaining flour and fold in, with the walnuts. Add the coffee.
3.Divide the mixture between the tins. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Check by pressing gently with your finger - the cake should spring back. Leave in the tins for 5 minutes, then turn on to a rack. When cold, sandwich together with the lemon curd.
4.To make the topping, sift the icing sugar into a bowl, then mix in the coffee and honey. Pour on to the cake, spreading it over the top and sides, then press walnut halves into the icing. Serve when the icing is set.

Lemon curd?

Where is the coffee?

The badgers not figured out to go around the front garden yet?

No, strangely enough. Apparently, they are very set in their ways and maybe a bit blind, seeing as they have to walk past the front garden to get to the back.

We haven't been troubled with them since the fence went up, so I do wonder where they have moved on to.

What about if I put plain butter icing in the middle, and coffee butter icing on the top and then delicately decorate it with the rest of the walnuts?

Poor little Freya :( Would be interesting to let her go with her mum one time, just to see if it's you that is the jinx in the family.

This is how the conversation went with my husband last night.

Him: Is there football on Tuesday night?
Me: Yes.
Him; Is it a proper game though?
Me: What do you mean by a proper game?
Him: Well, are they actually going to be playing football?
Me: That is usually what a football match is all about.
Him: Hmmm. Well I don't mind going if they are going to play some football
Me: Well don't do me any favours. If you're not going to support them then don't bother coming
Him: Well, I'll give them one more chance. Who are they playing?
Me: Arsenal
Him: No need to be like that.

:D
