not that i want warnock to leave, or expect him to

but if the job was available i'd vote for

Lucien Favre

who is incidentally available right now

Warnock will definatetly stand down in May 2011.... unless we make it into the Prem by then or are sold to a new owner who has their own ideas about management

. If we are clearly still a mid table Championship side in May 2011 and Simon Jordan hasn't succeeded in selling the Club by then the question of renewing Warnock's contract or appointing somebody else will need to be addressed. Right now I think Warnock's doing more than OK in the most testing of circumstances and if anything has the upper hand on Jordan while he remains the owner.

Favre only lost 6 on the trot to get the sack at Hertha. Let's wait for Paul Sturrock to be come available.

Neil Warnock is and will remain the manager for the forseeable future. This thread is just plain stupid.

Its like saying whos going to be our next no.1 keeper.

My shorlist would include

Alan Irvine
Andy Scott
Paul Trollope

All 3 carving a name for themselves

Irvine may well lead Preston to the premier league by then, the other two are doing well on limited budgets

good shout about Scott and Trollpe, I think Irvine is soon to be destined for far bigger things in the P/L and will demand a salary far too great for clubs in the CCC

Warnock will be around for some time, then it will be someone like Southgate or Cookie with an ex Palace great as coach like Salako or Bright.......

i doubt southgate would return to palace in any capacity and (recent) former players no longer seem keen on any links with the club

but i was interested in off the wall ideas really as we will certainly end up with an "earthernware" or even "tuppaware", uninspired, workman like and unimaginative appointment

so this was abrief flight of fancy before reality returns to dark and drizzly sarf london

Believe it or not we are in a lower league, and i doubt very much that we could get anyone better.

I'm just reading a book about a manager called "Brian Clough" (whoever he is) -although it seems to have started out going well for him. Can't wait to finish the book to see how it turns out.

What about him to replace Warnock?
