No. It's our anthem, it's part of our history and has been for the last half a century. Yes we have new owners, but we're still the same Club.

How encouraging to see a resounding 'NO!' so far for this suggestion.

Just because we have new owners does not mean we should ditch a song that is part of tradition and our heritage.

I reckon in CPFC 2010, these guys as fans themselves see the value of tradition.

I got married 4 years ago to a man who really dislikes football or any reference to it (everyone has their faults). I got the DJ to tag Glad all over straight on to the end of 'our tune'. As sad as this might sound I can't even remember what 'our tune' was but I do remember the evening was made by feeling :lux: :lux: glad all over. Please let it stay.....

Have to keep it as its so Palace, although I must confess I used to love the old Wimbledon "Boys are back in Town" Thin Lizzy song they played when they came out - plus the team used to stroll out onto the pitch in small groups during the song which seemed to intimidate the opposition.

I'm thinking we should should update to something more modern, contemporary, urban, which reflects our reborn status, like a phoenix from the flames - something with edge, bite, passion, I'm thinking...N-DUBZ?

Imagine the atmosphere with 20,000 fans singing the 'NA NA NAIIII' bits as the team runs onto the pitch. Who needs GAO. NA NA NAIII!

I might have known you'd be inclined to write something like this...

Ignoring the fact that the LGF track lends itself brilliantly to being looped to cover any timing problems, it is still, IMVHO just the best lead-up to GAO - it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. :)

Its the anthem that keeps the team going, but the fact Blackpool have stole it means it isnt as unique as it once was...and the anthem will get more associated with Blackpool as they are now in the top flight and thus the song will be played on MOTD at the start of big games for them... Much like Everton play their anthem at the start of the game... that is unique to them..

Yeah, I think we can ditch the song, now.
I don't remember it being played every game when I watched the Palace in the 70s and early 80s, I reckon it was revived some time around 1985. We'd need to fnd something else which has the same kind of daft optimism and driving beat, though - I liked the Thin Lizzy suggestion.
You could relegate GAO to a slightly more minor role.

Says a man who spent the best part of the eighties locked in a warehouse surrounded by unsellable records.....
Most of them yours.
The Smiths and Depeche Mode seemed to do all right.

I am the only one thinking this song is getting a bit tired now? As we are starting a new era under new owners I think we should adopt a new tune for the players to run out to? Maybe only keep GAO as a pre match build up song?

Thoughts? Also any suggestions for a new "entrance song".

There is no way we are giving up OUR anthem to those tangerine donkey driving candy floss eating northern gypoes in Blackpool.

Actually, I know what Scrumpy's doing here, he has inside information from Harry Munk that QPR have unveiled GAO as their new anthem, if we all say we don't want it, when the announce it next week it won't look like they have stolen something else from us.

In a word - No.
Keep Glad all over.

Rather than ditch Glad all Over, it should be enhanced. The match-day DJ from the late 80s used to precede it by playing a 2 minute drum solo. Marvellous Fayre.

In a word NO!

When I first went to Selhurst in 1969 it was our song and then we had to suffer years of Power to the Palace before it got revived

There are certain things that should never change:p

I remember GAO being played as we took to the pitch at Villa Park, 1990. I couldn't believe they were playing it. It just had to be our day.

It's a song that can NEVER be changed.

I was going to say at the age of 6 or 7 I was banging to GAO, I'm coming up to 52 and I still would bang to it ;)
what you do in private is up to you;)
Seriously though Glad all Over is us, part of the soul of the club we've fought to save. Does anything made recently sum us up better. Most clubs have an anthem. GAO is ours and I for one still get a lift most when I hear the fans bellowing it out without the help of the tannoy.
