From the Official City Website:
There will be a City reunion at the Palace. Defender, Andy Morrison is set to join First Division Crystal Palace on a month's loan where he will link up with former Blues midfielder, Jamie Pollock.
The thirty year old, who took over the captaincy from the midfielder during the Division 2 campaign, has only just returned to squad training after a month playing in Division 3 for Blackpool and he is now packing his bags for Selhurst Park.
It has been a long haul back for the defender after being sidelined by injury at the end of October last year. But he will travel South to the Capital with words of encouragement from the boss ringing in his ears.
"There is no doubt that if Andy Morrison had been at the club five years ago," Joe told the City shareholders at last Friday's AGM, "then they would not have had the problems they had."
"He is a great leader on the pitch. He tells me he is waiting for his chance and that when it comes he will be ready to take it so we will have to wait and see. There is no question that he possesses Premiership ability. It is all a matter of getting him as fit as he possibly can be."
But a debut for the Eagles this weekend, who are languishing in nineteenth spot with just two wins from ten games, will be put on hold for a week as the City club skipper will serve a one match ban, imposed after picking up five yellow cards

Date Of Birth: 30/7/70
Born: Inverness
Height: 6'00"
Weight: 14st.
Date Signed:
From: Huddersfield Town
City Debut: October 31st 1998 v Colchester United (h) 2-1
PROFILE
The signing of Andy Morrison, first on loan and then for a fee of £80,000 from Huddersfield Town, could prove to be one of Joe Royle's most astute moves in the transfer market.
The former Blackburn, Blackpool and Huddersfield Town player was an instant hit with the crowd scoring the winner with a header on his debut against Colchester United. The following week he unleashed a screamer to help City to a 3-0 win at Oldham. Two league games later and he netted his third at Luton.
A rugged and powerful defender he has done much to inject bite into the defence and is also a great organiser and talker. With Joe changing formations between a flat back four and three central defenders Andy is comfortable in either set up but admits he prefers to play in a back three. He says that system gives him licence to mark tight.
Was made club skipper and relished leading the team to victory in the play off final at Wembley.
The new season started brightly with the defence building a solid record in the early games. He was suspended for a two matches after an incident with Stan Collymore in the match at Craven Cottage.
He picked up a knee injury in the game against Port Vale at the end of October. An operation followed with a long recovery period.
Returned to full squad training in the second week in March still hoping to win a place in the team for the final lap of the promotion race.
Andy made one full appearance for the reserves when they won the Pontins League title at Grimsby but failed in his quest to make it into the squad for the final games of the season.

With Linighan now also out from the Brum game, surely this is a case of "beggars can't be choosers" ...
Just how many more loan signings can we make?

Anyone else bang their head on the table when they read this. "Great" I thought, we have defensive cover for Saturday. Oh wait a minute, this is Palace - no we don't http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif

The loan signings are getting a bit ridiculous and yes isn't it just "us" to sign a player who can't play.
I,m up for a game - anyone else !!?
Is Linighan definitely out for Saturday ? I know he had a bust up but if he's not playing who'll play at the back; Austin and Harris, anyone ??

Forsell, Kitson, Taylor - and now Morrison. And previously Harrison. The limit on the number of loan players is obviously something that happens to everyone else.
Read the profile on Morrison with interest - but is he any good?

Didn't take long did it.
Once again everyone has managed to slag off a new signing before he's even played for us. Remeber the abuse hurled at Pollock anyone???
Please give him a chance before you call him crap and useless, half of you have probably never seen him play!!!

You won't be able to fit him on the screen. Seriously though, my brother in law is a season ticket holder at City and thinks the guy is God. Out of his depth at premiership level but played a massive part in City's promotion to the first and good start last year before getting injured.
I went to the Wimbledon v City game in the cup 2 years ago and the man was outstanding until getting sent off with Carl Cort. If he is match fit (should be having been on loan at Blackpool for the last month) then it is the first decision made by Smith that I have agreed with since he signed Pollock.

Oh bleedin excellent. We have one hot-headed, harsh tackling player out due to being sent off, and we sign another with an even worse record! Apparently he topped the bookings table for last season, got about 3-5 red cards! See what happens, could be influential though!

Negativity reigns supreme then. Let's not crucify him before he's kicked a ball. I seem to remember people moaning about Linighan when he arrived - too old, never done much, only scored THAT goal, can't get a game at Arsenal etc, etc. The way things are going at the moment, if his fist game for us is a bad one, then he wil suffer endless abuse and Smith will be further criticised. This may prove to be justified, but in the meantime is it too much to ask to give him a chance?

I know nothing about him, except what a Man City fan and a crap lanky cartoonist have to say on the subject at http://40percent.net/cgi-bin/40display_thread.pl?mesgdir=dir3&thread_num=1063

What's all the fuss about !
We have a short-term defensive crisis so we've signed an excellent defender for a month's loan.
Makes good sense to me.
