Toronto were unable to breach the Palace rearguard today, being restricted to one shot on target, an 80th minute freekick.
Palace went ahead in the 3rd minute, and looked likely to increase that total, but the Toronto defence managed to keep the Palace assault at bay

Yep close indeed, lag carried on for me in patches for the whole of that game. I've had 3 nites with dodgy EA server stuff, strangely 2 games going on differently for both players before freezing? The CSKA one & one other which is really really wierd. And a bit of lag last night :(

Nah! I think he did post after didn't he? anyways I'm sure he's cool with carying on. Shame Celtic quit after the leagues had been sorted I'm sure we could've done some re-jigging to have 6,6,7

Poznan scrap through after jokes shoot out in torrential rain

In an all out attacking game in terrible weather both Goal keepers were in sensational form with neither being able to be beaten after a full 2 hours of football. Poznan had the better of the first half & Tevez, Jelen & Afellay were all denied by some outstanding saves from the St.Pauli keeper Tzorvas. The German side got more into it in the second half only to see Narubin have just a good a game as his opposite number pulling off 2 or 3 great saves. As the game drew to a close Tevez shook off his marker turned and fired in a great effort which the diving Tzorvas finger tipped away to take the games to penalties. Once more the keepers shone as poor efforts from the first 6 pens were saved. Welnicki who was rested from the starting line up but introduced as a sub in the second half fired his home to put the poles 1 up after 7 pens, the next 2 were saved again leaving St.Pauli needing to score to take it to sudden death but sadly the taker slipped in the wet conditions & fell on his arse as the ball sailed wide. Both managers looked embaressed by their sides lack of composure in front of goal with Panzer pissing himself laughing at their ineptitude! :D :D

The old pallet would have been turned over in most games so far. This perfromance enhanced version of Pallet is proving a tricky customer to beat this season.

I urge the FWL board to give pallet a random drugs test via Anal manipulation.

Played a game last night against Daz, and ended up with only 10 men after 10 minutes. I will be without Bornstein for the next 2 games due to his red card.

It finished Busan 1 CSKA 3. Just could not defend last night at all. Well played to Daz though who is going to be a tough customer in league 1, and 3 wins out of 3 is testament to that.

Just need to play Olimite and Ardeo now to complete my first round of matches and the Cup match that needs to be played.

A goal at the end of either half tonight earned Scunthorpe a hard earned draw against a Montpellier side struggling for some form. The game started slowly with neither side creating much, a shot from Fozzie's former player Drenthe being the only test to either keeper, before Benzema twisted around his marker inside the box to slot the ball past Carson on the stroke of half time. 1-0 HT, and Montpellier yet to have a shot on target.

Montpellier came out the stronger team, and their pressure paid off when a one-two with Bendtner saw Robinho volley the ball past Harper (above) pulling the teams level. This scoreline lasted only 2 minutes, when Taiwo's chipped cross was turned into his own net by Armero, putting the french side in front. MHSC looked to have been holding out for the in comfortably, when in the 90th minute, Pisano's clearance hit Gallas and fell straight into the path of Alan Lee who finished cooly under pressure to give Scunthorpe the point that they probably deserved.

A good point, but Vfl must be wondering how they didn't score a second goal. They started brightly, and Gomez opened the scoring with a tidy finish into the bottom corner. A long ball caused problems in the German defence. allowing an equaliser. After that lapse in concentration, all of the play was in the middle of the park, with opportunities for Vfl to score popping up every few minutes. The Russian defence held firm, however, showing exactly why he has been so tough to beat.

On a side note, WHY do I always play in the snow? I hate it :D

As for admins moving players, if you click on draft you have the option to move the player to another club other than yourself. This should be a last ditch option though - best the person does it themselves.

I was thinking about this last night Carl. At the moment, there really is nothing relating to risk/reward when it comes down to squad selection. I want to tread carefully here though as I don't want us to get into a situation where we're rewarding the best players.

In theory, I could put a squad together that probably cost no more than £100,000 - £150,000 in wages so I can blitz the upgrades (whatever they are and however much they cost).

There's no risk in doing this as the seasons are so short. I can take the fact that I will come bottom of the league and receive no 'punishment' for this. For the following season, I can apply my updates and potentially kick some backside and storm to promotion.

Of course, this is hypothetical as I don't know what the upgrades are and what benefit they give to your team.

Care to elaborate/comment?

I agree with you Neil, that's why ive been pressing for the upgrades to be defined.

The relative benefits of each upgrade will have to be quite small to prevent that happening

I'll try and get something more concrete up this evening regarding details on upgrades.

There is no way you could drop wages and buy all upgrades in a season. First star upgrades will be at least 100k each and I am estimating that each star will be quite an increase. I would suspect a final star would be around the 1.5m mark per upgrade area.

Olympiakos players have been made available to purchase.

Olympiakos have stated they are open to offers for any players in their squad including high earners Eto'o, De Jong and Upson.

The only players Olympiakos have said they will not listen to offers for are Rob Friend and Thomas Sorenson.

Manager Nathan Davis has said he will listen to any type of offer including player exchanges.

Bids can be offered in 10k amounts up to 1m and then 100k increases from then on.

Teams have to wait a minimum of 24 hours before they can accept a bid.

The selling team can only accept the highest bidder.

Players who are purchased from another FWL team automatically come with 1 years free protection.

UPGRADE IDEA

Chairman - each star increases yearly income by 10%

Stadium - each star increases wages before tax deduction by £25k

Academy - each star gives 1 free youth player (U21) - will deduct cheapest wage first

Protection - each star gives 1 free protection (can only be used on first year protections ie. not on players who have already been protected before at club)

Star cost:
1 = £100k
2 = £250k
3 = £500k
4 = £1m

What do people think? Any other ideas for upgrades?

Yeah I agree with you and PM regarding protections. Not sure a 3 year deal is a good idea either though... will have a think about that one.

Funny you should say about the negotiator. I was thinking a 'player agent' section where you bid 80k for example, but you get a % discount on what you have to pay.

New York Red Bulls manager Peter Blair has confirmed the club would be interested in signing Gabriel Agbonlahor if the striker decides to leave Peterborough United.

According to reports, Agbonlahor, 24, has broken off contract talks at London Road and, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season, it is claimed New York could be ready to cash in, with the transfer likely to be funded by the sale of Ibrahimovic.

The Peterborough manager is expected to comment on the situation at a charity event tonight.

Perhaps now everything can be put to bed as Red Bull New York have categorically denied that they are pursuing Toronto FC's Adam Johnson.

News had been rampant the last few days that the talented English winger was set to leave the Canadian outfit due to a clause in his contract which would allow the midfielder to do so.

Feeling that enough was enough, New York manager Peter Blair has publicly announced that there is no transfer in the offing to bring the former Smoggies player to the Red Bull Arena.

"New York Red Bulls have spoken to no-one regarding Johnson. There is nothing, not even talk," said Blair. "We do not want to mislead our supporters and create problems."

Vfl Wolfsburg beat Olympiakos CFP 3-1, in a thrilling game.

Olympiakos found themselves down to 10 men late on, exposing a massive hole in the defence for the German's to exploit. Their strikeforce has been causing trouble for a lot of teams this year, and the side must have been cursing their luck for not being out of sight at half-time. They were up against a very physical side, and it showed, a few yellow cards and a red handed out to the losing side.

Gomez, Podolski, Kuyt, Alex, Schweinsteiger and Osman all had chances, but eventually three goals was more than enough to see the Germans through to the second round.

Wolfsburg had not played for a week or two before this game, and it showed. After the routing of Poznan, the German side performed today to only a fraction of how well they did against the Polish side.

Looking forward to the second round draw!

Nigel de Jong hands in transfer request

Olympiakos has transfer listed De Jong after he made it clear he no longer wanted to be at the club. After starting the season well, the clubs form has dropped, crashing out of the FA cup to German side - Vfl Wolfsburg.

Having picked up 2 yellow cards since the season's start and manager Nathan Davis has said that while there is such a "lack of contrition for poor tackles" he will not feature in the squad.

De Jong responded to this by handing in a transfer request - news that will be of interest to teams across the English leagues.

Persija pulled off a surprise result in their opening game of the season, beating league holders Peterborough 3-2 in an entertaining game in Jakarta.

Kebe opened the scoring, finding space at the back post to head home a Dorrans corner. It wasn't long though until Peterborough found a way back into the game. Shelton proving he doesn't have just pace, squeezed in a shot past the keeper's near post.

Half time, 1-1 and Persija may have been feeling a little sorry for themselves as they had looked the stronger team and restricted Peterborough to just one shot - which they had scored.

The second half was more open and both teams created better chances. It was Jerome who put the English side into the lead with a well taken goal after Persija's back two failed to deal with a long ball.

But it was Kebe who was destined to the be the name on peoples' lips after the game though. First he broke free down the left and his cross was headed home by Keirrison and then a ball from substitute Austin found Kebe who beat the defender and managed to just knock the ball past the keeper to steal the points in the last minute.

"I thought we played well today. We kept the ball well and in my opinion, were certainly the better passing team. I think we showed how we had adapted to the new style of the game better than Peterborough with a better array of long passing.

Peterborough have obviously gone for pace and were constantly looking for the lofted through ball, but our defence watched them well.

In the end I thought we were worthy and deserving winners. Peterborough only managed two shots on target compared to our six and we had better possession. Kebe grabbing the winner after already playing such a great game made it even better.

I think Peterborough will definitely be out for revenge at their place... we've never won there so we will have to be better than we were tonight to get three points."

You did decide to spend all your money on wages! :)

But... you could do either of these ideas:

1. Go into debt to find a replacement with the aim of lowering your wage bill and getting out of debt next season.

2. Find a replacement at another FWL club - I doubt you would have to pay 100k for a 70 rated striker.

Remember you get two drafts per season which will allow you to grab two players for free if need be. You only need to get back to the 16 man squad limit in the time for the start of next season.

Seeing hypje predicament makes me quite happy (not in a nasty way).

I think teams may start to downgrade their heavy wage squads next season... teams can't drop 8 players and sign 8 each season any more. Teams have to rely on the players they have and try to find good deals for any other players they want.

With free agents not coming cheap, it will also increase sales between teams - and that is where a lot of fun is imo.

Also, I've found a bit of glitch on the website. If you purchase a player with rating zero then their price is minus so when you click to sign it will cost - for example E. Alvarez costs -£110,000. Not sure if it puts £110000 on your budget, I didn't get that far.

Because getting a player now means you aren't paying his wages until next season so you get some games for free?

You also only get two steals. Most people prefer to sign more than 2 players.
