Hazy, like the idea of having to payout if you release someone early.
To keep it simple, if you release someone after having him for only one season, you have to pay half his wages for one more season?

I was erring on the side of suspensions being carried forward but thought it would be "unfair" on the buying team (they shouldn't be punished for someone elses discipline) However I'm open to persuasion to change it if people come up with valid points like ^

Lyon Sign Pederson

Lyon have tonight signed Norwegian left midfield Morten Gamst Pederson for £10,000, with England sprint merchant Aaron Lennon going the other way.

Pederson had already made 6 appearances for Olypiakos this season before new Lyon manager decided to put in a bid for the Norwegian, who has scored 15 times in his 77 FWL appearances, and he is expected to line up opposite Nani on the wings for Lyon.

Meanwhile Aaron Lennon has moved the other way, after making 4 starts and contributing with a goal already this season, although he will carry a hefty wage of £54k, and it is thought he was sold as he was not as effective as similar player Nani.

OL manager BulletEagle said "Morten is a player I have long admired, and I did not feel Aaron [Lennon] was as effective as he should have been, and although he is a world class player he didn't quite hit it off at Southampton, and so I have chosen to let him go. Morten is a top top player and has an incredible left foot, one of the best left foots in the FWL, and hopefully his crosses can be converted in games by the likes of Jimmy [Briand] and Lisandro [Lopez] and we can kick on from where we are now."

Well, depends what you think good is :o

Pederson was very effective in a game against Carnage (I think) where I absolutely dominated, and Carnage didn't have a shot until about the 80th minute, and then he scored twice and I won 4-2, and Pederson was exceptional. And whenever I play with him he seems to go central and switch with Milner out wide with out me asking him too, whereas Lennon never moved for me.

2 very good games with Carnage as mentioned, first game had some great goals, Pederson playing a sweet pass to Lisandro, who chipped it over the defence for the on-rushing Pederson to nod home, McCarthy scored twice from consecutive corners before somehow scoring in the top corner from the edge of the box, Milner and Briand playing brilliantly together, Lopez scoring a penalty after Andrew was brought down for a second red card to Scunny.
Second game Calvin Andrew got a HAT TRICK, Pederson got another as did Briand and Lopez hit the post with a brilliant shot from miles out despite not being able to move.

How can anyone sell if they have a squad of 16?
Signing a free agent is ridiculously over priced compared to club - club transfers.
Is there punishment for being in the red? if so what is it and when does it take effect?
I still don't see the point in paying for a player if i can steal them for free at the end of the season, to over come this players signed should come with a 2 season contract, to promote transfers instead of waiting to steal. You could also make this 2 way with a fee being charged for releasing a player still under contract, thus promoting selling of players not wanted.

Omen,
any response to the above.

Players have to have a squad of 16 by the time wages are deducted each season. You can have less than 16 at any other time.

Players who are signed for money (free agents or from other teams) already come with 1 year free protection.

Admins will keep an eye on players going into debt. If they are struggling to be in the black after wage deductions then administrators will put all their players up for sale until they are back in the black. Teams could also face point deductions in the league and possible relegation.

The point in signing players is quite clear I think when you look at a deal like Eto'o's move to CSKA. Olympiakos had already paid his £58k wages so CSKA got him for 40k and got a free years protection on him. Good deal I would say.

Reading 0-2 Persija

Reading: None
Persija: Keirrison (2)

D.Wheater sent off for Reading (2 yellow cards)

Persija dominate with extra man to take three points

Reading got off to a good start in this match, Darren Bent causing Persija trouble shooting against the post inside 10mins. It only looked a matter of time until Reading scored, but then two silly tackles from Wheater saw the player pick up two yellow cards and have to leave the pitch early in the first half.

The game then turned on it's head. Before Reading made a substitutions, Kebe crossed from the left for Keirrison to head home.

Reading then brought Jones on, but it was to no avail as Persija dominated the match creating chance after chance. Keirrison and Dorrans both hit the woodwork and Kebe missed a guilt edged one on one chance - putting the ball wide of the post.

It looked like the missed chances could come back to haunt Persija, but Keirrison made sure that wasn't going to happen, stealing in to make it 2-0 after Foster saved his initial shot.

Substitutes Austin and Latupeirissa will feel they should also have got their name on the score sheet - Austin forcing a great point blank save from a header and Latupeirissa shooting wide with just the keeper to beat.

It wasn't to prove costly though as Persija claimed a well earned three points to leave Reading with real relegation worries.

Persija 1-2 New York

Persija: Showunmi
New York: Ibrahimovic, Van Persie

New York All Stars too Strong for Indonesian Paupers

Persija lost their first game of the season tonight as New York proved too strong at the Bung Karno stadium.

New York brought along a team of stars including the likes of Ibrahimovic, Van Persie, Henry and Wilshere whereas Persija had ex-Tranmere striker Showunmi upfront. It was one of the biggest wage spenders vs the smallest and the extra skill told in the end.

Ibrahimovic playing against his old club gave New York the lead with a delicate half volley from a Gibbs cross. Van Persie then doubled the score, chesting down a long pass before side footing into the top corner.

Showunmi came on for the 2nd half and the big striker caused New York problems. He eventually got his reward, heading home from a Dorrans corner.

Persija pushed forward and tried their best to grab an equaliser but it wasn't to be their night.

Omen happy despite defeat

"Let's be honest, with the lowest wage in the FWL, we've done well to go this long without losing a game!

It really dawned on me when I saw Showunmi a division 1/2 striker lining up as our forward man vs Ibrahimovic, Van Persie and Henry...

I'm proud of the effort the boys put in. Our target this year was just Premiership survival and we are well on our way to achieving that."

Anyone got any ideas on suspensions when players are sold, as mentioned before I think it's unfair to punish the buying team but it's not right at the moment. BulletEagle: Scunthorpe will survive

New Olympique Lyonnais manager BulletEagle is certain Scunthorpe can produce a superb run of results to keep them in the Premiership by the end of the season. Scunthorpe currently sit rock bottom of the Premiership without a win, but the former Southampton, Bayern and Aston Villa manager is convinced CarnageReeper is the right man to keep them up "Carnage is a very good manager, and you don't get to the Premiership on merit, he clearly has the ability. With top players such as Karim Benzema and Alan Lee he has built a strong squad and I am sure he will keep them up.

"I have played him a lot recently and he has set up a very solid defence and an attack that is incredibly dangerous on the counter, and there are some very very weak squads with average managers in that league, and Carnage is most certainly not one of them - Scunthorpe won't go down. They may be slightly inconsistent in friendlies, but when it comes down to it the results will come."

I kind of believe in principle it's a good idea, but without the game itself dealing with it and having to rely on people to remember, I just can't see it working and if anything just causes more complications.

I would vote against as people like Neil, PM etc probably have more important things on their mind other than remembering who is cup tied.

BUSAN WIN TO KEEP THEM THIRD

Olympiakos 1 Busan 3

Busan striker Huntelaar continued to show his form as he scored 2 goals in a 3-1 win over fourth placed team Olympiakos. Busan took the initiative straight to Olympiakos and went ahead just before half time when the man of the match, Huntelaar, weaved his way through the greek defence and curled the ball past the goalkeeper. He then scored another goal on the 45th minute to put Busan 2-0 up after a fine cross into the box from Fred and Huntelaar brough the ball down beautifully to smash the ball in to the net. Busan's third goal came from Vagner Love, who held off two defenders to score a delicate chip over the Olympiakos keeper.
Busan did concede late on to an 87th minute goal from Friend, who headed past goalkeeper Keller direct from a beautifully floated corner, but by this time it was too little too late for Olympiakos and Busan ran out winners.
Jon Ellacott, Busan manager, said "this was possibly our best performance of the season and I truly believe that we can push the top two for the League 1title. The team are presently full of confidence after this result. This side can only go on to bigger and better things".

Vfl Wolfsburg 2 - 3 Olympiakos

Vfl Wolfsburg fans were shocked tonight, when a game they really should have got something from went horribly wrong. Vfl started well, looking like the better team. Gomez got the first, in a good passing move, but then proceeded to miss a number of massive chances.

Olympiakos levelled, and then went ahead, massively against the run of play. A ball tapped across the goal keeper was bundled in for the first, before an accidentally taken free-kick resulted in a penalty and goal.

Vfl Wolfsburg always looked like getting back into it, and thought they had, when Gomez scored his second. They missed a number of great chances, hitting the bar twice and setting countless others wide or over.

It was inevitable then, that Friend would pop up in the 85th minute to curl in a superb winner from just inside the box, leaving Wolfsburg stunned. They know that they need to beat teams such as this, if they want to challenge for the title.

Scunthorpe Manager Speaks Out

In a brief statement in the early hours of the morning heard Scunthorpe United manager James Gillespie announce that the Premier League is yet to suffer the full force of Scunthorpe United. This comes as news after last night Olympique Lyonnais manager BulletEagle announced that he believes the Iron will turn their fortunes around.

'We have had an unlucky start to the season. Losing three well contested match to Peterborough, Reading and New York Red Bulls, to 2 90th minute strikes against the Americans. They lost the battle at the bottom to relegation rivals Reading, in a match that could have gone either way, but we failed to take their chances and defended poorly.' Gillespie told the FWL press, who crowded outside his countryside estate. 'Dropping points against Persija, after the match was abandoned was another blow for the us. If our luck can turn around then we can definatly survive, and put some results our way, who knows anything can happen.'

Gillespie also stated that ‘We will survive, and, while there is reason to worry, we shouldn’t be doing so yet, with 5 games still to play’. Scunthorpe also revealed they have made a £60,000 bid for Lionel Messi. ‘Lionel Messi could add a great attacking threat, which is what we need.’ This comes after William Gallas signed a half a season contract at Glandford Park.

Carnage mate read back, I suggested replacement players bought in by the offending manager take the suspension but it was argued to reflect real life. However I do agree with you it's harsh so any transfers should reflect suspensions etc.... I'd also suggest a fair play league where ill disciplined teams get fined... Johanthan Greening has picked up a Broken Leg injury and will be unavailable for selection for the next 15 game(s).

Don't like this other league!!!

I also suggested that the leagues may be too big (only been running a month and supposedly people are losing interest) - my comment got removed!! lol

Lyon staying realistic

Lyon manager BulletEagle has said that his squad are not going to get carried away with their current league position at the top of the Championship - and insists that their main aim is still to avoid relegation.

Last night BE told Sky Sports News how he was certain Scunthorpe can climb off of the bottom of the top division and survive relegation for a second year running, and he insists that that is the same aim his squad has, "We might be top of the league now, but it is a very tight league, and our main aim first and foremost is to stave off relegation. We know we can do it, and obviously the higher up in the table you are the better position you are in, but we know that we are only half way there and need to keep producing results against big sides. We got a great result against Arsenal, and Chelsea are a very strong side, in fact I would go as far as saying that Chelsea are going to win the league this season.

"We are top now, but anything better than relegation is a bonus. Promotion doesn't even come into it, and I don't want to talk about moving to the Premiership. Right now we have to focus on survival, and as long as we are not in the bottom two come the end of the season, I couldn't care less where we finish. This season was never supposed to be a promotion push. This year we want to survive, and then maybe next year we can build and get to grips with the way this league works, because it is a very different league from League One. Maybe next season a good cup run can help us build up some form because it is a small season, so maybe, just maybe, we can get maybe 2nd place. But right now we need to focus on survival."

Carnage mate read back, I suggested replacement players bought in by the offending manager take the suspension but it was argued to reflect real life. However I do agree with you it's harsh so any transfers should reflect suspensions etc.... I'd also suggest a fair play league where ill disciplined teams get fined... I'm looking at Olympiakos' record & they are a dirty side ;)

I know, I just can't help it!

Toronto all but relegated after embrassing defeat
An 11 nil loss to Arsenal is the worst defeat in club history, i had no answer to Ronaldo, Messi & Kaka. Hazy1980 is currently considering his status in the FWL due to his absolutley appalling skills in Fifa11.

Peterborough 4 -0 Reading
Peterborough take chances against Reading as Jerome claims match ball. Closer than score line suggests with Peterborough somehow managing to get block after block in and catch Reading out.

Peterborough 2 - 0 Persija
Posh claim points in a very tight affair. Van Hout getting man of match somes up a Tettey and Jerome get the two lucky breaks to give Peterborough the win.

Persija drawn into relegation battle after three straight defeats

Persija 0-2 Montpellier

Peterborough 2-0 Persija

"First off the game against Montpellier. We deserved nothing. Their crowded formation stopped us playing and we couldn't get anything going.

The second game against Peterborough was heartbreaking. I felt we outplayed them and created enough chances to win the game, but the players are off form at the moment and they aren't taking their chances.

The games against Scunthorpe and Reading will be very nervous encounters. I've never been relegated in the FWL, and I don't plan on this season being my first experience of it..."

What do you have in mind?

well if you cancelled a player's contract IRL, you'd have to pay them off.
so I suggested if you release a player after only one year, you still have to pay 50% of their wages

NY Red Bulls wasted numerous clear cut chances in the first half allowing Reading to regroup in the second, having a goal disallowed for offside as well as missing an open goal. A 67th minute strike by van Persie was enough though, as the Red Bulls held on for the crucial 3 points.

Persija in Shock Win away to New York

New York 0-2 Persija
Persija: Showunmi (2)

Where Persija felt they were unlucky against Peterborough, the tables turned full circle against New York.

A tight opening saw Showunmi open the scoring, collecting a chipped through ball and firing past the keeper.

The goal shocked New York into life and they piled forward creating chance after chance with their superstars. Van Persie looked to have the best one until Timar chopped him down when through on goal - Timar was distraught claiming he thought he should have got the ball. He received a red card and with still more than a half of football left, Persija knew they were in trouble.

The second half saw Persija sit on the edge of their box and defend, defend, defend and with the woodwork on their side at least once, they were holding on but it looked only a matter of time until New York scored.

Then the unimaginable happened. Showunmi broke free and scored again... his third goal of the season and all three have been scored against New York.

A memorable victory was sealed and what might prove a very important one as Persija try to keep their top division status.

After the match against New York, Showunmi handed in a transfer request.
