Panz, I agree I had no defence in my recent case, Id prefer instant financial penalties for bookings rather than suspend players which relies on the manager changing his team. (Suspending the player requires too much attention to detail, complicated to work out, preventing the ability to just pick up your controller and play someone)
Points penalites are also too harsh and will cause a massive contraversy at some point in the future no doubt.

I agree with this too. Definitely the way to go.

Omen - while you are online, what are your thoughts on free transfers?
Maybe a limit of one or two outside of the steals, as well all know there is always the occasional player that we sign that isn't as good as we had hoped and needs to go, and we definitely need to sort out fees before the transfer window ends.
I plan to manually work out the average pounds per points spent this season (other than the silly 3m deal) and apply that. I'll let you know very soon the cost of frees next season.

Ok, I've worked it out. For next season, the pound to point value for free agents is £457.
Database has been updated and player values will now represent their true game value.
Once this season's fixtures have finished I'll update the free agent signing fee

Afraid not because the free transfer amount will adjust each season. If people spend high next season on transfers then it will rise again.
If was hoping to have a live adjusting amount but with the amount of swap deals going on it makes it difficult. For example, if I include the two 3m deals, free agents would cost £6,307 to the point meaning a 78 rated player would cost over £500,000

Persija Enter Play-Offs as Relegation Draws Closer

Persija: Austin
A close game saw Reading emerge victors with a 2-1 victory. A close fought first half ended 0-0 with the only chance of note falling to Showunmi who headed wide.
The second half was brought to life though when Downing crossed for Jenas, who was steaming in, to head home.
Persija were forced to change formation and bring on another striker, Charlie Austin, who scored with his first touch - knocking in a saved Keirrison shot to make it 1-1.
From then on the game opened up and both teams looked like grabbing a winner. It was a poor goal kick that was to decide it in the end. Lewis failing to hit the half way line where a Reading header fell straight at the feet of Downing who was in the clear. His shot beat the keeper but not the post, however Bent followed in well and tucked the ball into an open net.
Persija pushed for an equaliser and thought they had found it in the very last minute but Keirrison shot from a Kebe cross was brilliantly saved by Foster.

All I did wrong here was have him suspended for the wrong game?
I didn't know which match 14 was, so I didn't play Osman in my first game against MV instead of the second?

Put some steel in your midfield with this tough tackling midfielder. Barton gives 100% every game for his club. He is a very good passer of the ball and has an eye for goal too.
Graham Dorrans - 40k
Dorrans is capable of playing on the wing, in central midfield or just behind the striker in a playmaker or centre forward role. The Scotsman is very good at set pieces and was Persija's top assister this season. He also can strike a ball well from long range.
Keirrison - 30k
The Brazilian is the perfect secondary striker. With good all round stats, he is capable of playing up front on his own or with a partner. A natural goalscorer who has a knack of being in the right position at the right time. He specialises in finesse shots rather than power and at 6ft tall, can handle himself well in the air too.
All going for bargain prices - you won't find free agents at such a low fee! ;)

Next Seasons Discipline sugestion:
No suspensions but a Financial Penalty when a club reaches the following,
Yellow Cards:
5 = £20k
8 = £50k
10 = £80k
12 or more = 100k
Red Card* = 10k fine
*this will include 2 yellows in a match for the same player & if this is the case the yellows will not be included in the clubs total.
All Cards wiped at end of season but all league & cup matches will count towards the clubs final discipline record.
This will be easy to implement & administer & there will be no need to distinguish between 2 yellows & a red in the match details. Hopefully Carl can set an auto deduction system up as well

We play about 10 games in the league, add a couple in the cups, say on average each team plays 14 games.
16 players in the squad, assuming 14 play each game, then there will be a total of 196 appearances made per team. Being fined for 5 cards in 196 appearances is a bit of a low figure IMO.

Your figues are slightyly inflated assuming 14 players will play each match? so far this season you have had about 108 appearances with somewhere around 5 yellow cards & you are, for this season, around the average for teams cards, there are a lot of teams with less so I reckon 5 is about right personally

No the fine would come in to effect at the end of the season for the TOTAL yellow cards recieved. Red would be a straight deduction tho'

Ah ok, I was planning on fining after each game. The idea being that we have a after match screen once you have input your score showing fines and injuries

Panzer, didn't you set a cup deadline of yesterday for all cup games to be played? The game between Toronto and Arsenal is still outstanding (or nobody on here knows the result, so I am guessing the former) and I haven't really seen Arsenal on recently, although Kardan has been playing other games, he hasn't been playing Fifa from when I have seen him. Lydder has been on a fair bit as well - certainly enough time since everybody else that has needed to has played him.
A lot of people want to play cup games now since the leagues are over (apart from League 1, don't know what's gone on there, maybe a deadline needs setting) or get on with a draft, and this season is taking a while.

League Ideas
For next season we could have 4 leagues.
The Premiership would still get Lyon (Championship winners) promoted, and the play-off would still take place.
The Championship, would have the relegated side, and the play-off with the Premiership would take place still.
Toronto go down into the "new league", with the top two sides in the current "League One" coming up into the Championship.
3rd-6th placed in "League One" go into the "new league" with Toronto.
7th and 8th stay in "League One", with 3 new spaces in the FWL.
The League Shield will be contested between the bottom two leagues, the Champions League between the top two leagues, the FA Cup between all teams, the Super Cup between the winner of the League Shield and the Champions League, and the Community Shield between the Premiership winner and the FA Cup winner.
Thoughts?

Seasonal income at the moment is £60k so each upgrade gives you a similar financial return in the area it effects.
So next season, I will have the 112k left over from this season (once the Nani deal is completed) plus 60k of seasonal income (which would be 66k if I bought the upgrade), and then added on to that the 600k of my wage budget.

Sorry, my typo. I meant 600k seasonal income. Your wages come out of that. So an upgrade level 1 stadium would give you an income of 660k, level 2 720k, level 3 780k, and level 4 840k.

Stadium increases wage allowance before tax. At the moment tax comes in after 500k wages. With level 1 it would come in after 550k.
I like the idea of bringing back Champions League competitions. I'll read through it properly later and let you know.

My only worry is that teams have already been able to pick very strong sides - Arsenal for example.
The idea was that people were restricted to average teams to begin with and slowly teams would improve until we have good teams just before FIFA 12 where we would adjust everything again.
I'm slightly concerned about the type of teams people could build with a lot of upgrades!

Precisely. You are the opposite end of the scale - you have a poor team but lots of money for upgrades, so it will all even out in the end.

Also I buy the academy then draft (during the steal/draft stage) a U21 free agent who is then the highest rated U21 in my squad. Would I be charged a full signing fee (wages etc) or do I get him for free & then free wages for the season or a small signing fee & then free wages?

If you draft a free agent, you don't pay any fees and wouldn't pay his wages when they are deducted.
If you sign a free agent, you would be charged the normal fees but wouldn't pay any wages when they are deducted. So if you signed an U21 player mid season you would pay the full fee.

Getting there with update... have been on it all day! Form has been created to upgrade team. I'm now working on applying the upgrades across the website (the 10% automatically being added to teams with upgrades when money is handed out etc). I've completed the chairman and academy upgrade. Two more to go and then I'll release it.

Two points:
1) It isn't really any different to player ratings.
2) Birth dates make it confusing. If we do age on FIFA it stays the same the whole season, and if we are searching a player not on the database then we will have to look up his current age, high some players wouldn't bother doing.

Panzer, didn't you set a cup deadline of yesterday for all cup games to be played? The game between Toronto and Arsenal is still outstanding (or nobody on here knows the result, so I am guessing the former) and I haven't really seen Arsenal on recently, although Kardan has been playing other games, he hasn't been playing Fifa from when I have seen him. Lydder has been on a fair bit as well - certainly enough time since everybody else that has needed to has played him.
A lot of people want to play cup games now since the leagues are over (apart from League 1, don't know what's gone on there, maybe a deadline needs setting) or get on with a draft, and this season is taking a while.

UPGRADE UPDATE IS NOW LIVE
As with all major updates, please keep an eye on your finances when you make any purchases (free agents and from other clubs), purchase any upgrades, seasonal wage deductions and seasonal money handout.
If I have made any mistakes or missed something, it would potentially effect any of those situations.
I have just backed up the database in case anything major happens!
When you are logged in you should see the new upgrade team option near the upgrade section. Hope you enjoy the new feature :)

Persija have announced that work on the stadium has been completed which will increase their yearly income by £60,000.
They have also opened the first FWL academy. The club will benefit a further £42,000 per season due to Keirrison being the highest paid youngster at the club.

Poznan open their academy after delays
With Lech Poznan the first to anounce a new academy for U21 players Persija stole the glory after building works were delayed in Poland as all the professionaly qualified builders were still awaiting clearance to leave England! The UK government finally allowed the immigrants to leave under heavy pressure from British industry who now must be wondering what state the country will be in as no lazy British chavs are capable of doing the work to such a high standard as the Poles! :D

Wolfsburg appeal has been heard & as L.Osman was left out for the Melbourne match (even tho' it was the reverse fixture) which was played after Osman recieved his 2nd Yellow the decision is they will NOT be deducted points

You don't need 16 players by the end of the season - you need 16 players by the beginning of next season, so you could sell to players, then steal two from other people.

League Ideas
For next season we could have 4 leagues.
The Premiership would still get Lyon (Championship winners) promoted, and the play-off would still take place.
The Championship, would have the relegated side, and the play-off with the Premiership would take place still.
Toronto go down into the "new league", with the top two sides in the current "League One" coming up into the Championship.
3rd-6th placed in "League One" go into the "new league" with Toronto.
7th and 8th stay in "League One", with 3 new spaces in the FWL.
The League Shield will be contested between the bottom two leagues, the Champions League between the top two leagues, the FA Cup between all teams, the Super Cup between the winner of the League Shield and the Champions League, and the Community Shield between the Premiership winner and the FA Cup winner.
Thoughts?

Bullet, with regard to your point about the start limit for fines on yellow cards, what I will do is take an overall average of cards given this season & set the limit at 1 match (or round it to) above that average. Then I'll factor in the same for further cards so the likelyhood is the starting limit may increase :p

St Paulis run of bad luck and bad form contiues. Losing 1-0 in both games against Inter. In the first game, I ahd a shot which hit one post ran along the goal line, hit the other post and came out. Just about sums this season up.

So does Kardan. I think we should keep an eye on the length of time it is taking people to put results in next season. I don't mind a day at most, but it really shouldn't be any longer. Scotty's games have been close to a week now - I think Kardan's is the same.

This all seems reasonable. What really are we achieving with the Champions League though? Surely the FA Cup and normal leagues decide who is the best. The league shield will definitely be back next season anyway.
With the league shield increasing fixtures for divisions below the Prem, I did think about having the Prem as the largest division to even it out... thoughts?

Think it may have been before your time in the FWL, but we once had different FAs (so two Premier leagues) with a Champions League tournament etc.
I liked it, but the majority voted to return to the single FA format.

We both joined in the last season of that, but being in the Conference were never involved.
I like my idea, I am sure 3 people would be willing to join, would anybody be open to a return? There were people on the suggestions thread that never joined, don't know why but maybe they are still interested.
I am still very keen on the Champions League, Community Shield and Super Cup ideas, I think it would make it that bit more competitive.

Lyon then had many promising attacks getting the better of Jones and Cana repeatedly, but Isaksson was unbeatable.

NDiaye's second goal came after Vargas outmuscled a defender to put in a lovely cross. NDiaye leapt highest to score again.

You two, very close game, was so frustrated at your keeper, seemed to stop everything, when Fifa was playing the replays though I had so many easy chances I missed when I massively outnumbered you but always seemed to make the wrong choice, for example Milner in the first half could have finessed it around the keeper to score a simple goal, instead he goes left footed for the near post! WHY!

St. Pauli must be rueing their luck as they missed a glorious chance in the first 4 mins to be 1 up but the post preserved the status quo for Poznan who looked comfortable after the early scare. Jelen put the visitors 1 up after 18mins with a great strike into the bottom corner from just outside the box. Poznan soaked up most of St.Pauli's pressure & increased their lead from a corner which was firmly headed towards goal by Rodriguez, 2 defenders & the keeper somehow conspired to let the ball bounce between them & finally go into the net off Annan to put the Poles in the driving seat. HT 0-2. The second half was a much tighter affair as St.Pauli started to go in hard on lots of tackles which put the Poles off their stride but brought the Germans 4 yellow cards. Voronin gave hope to the home side with a header passed Narubin in the 63rd minute but 5 mins later Brown put the game beyond them. The home side managed to grab a goal in the 83rd minute to bring the score to 2-3 but the away team closed the game out to secure the points.

I would be against idea of champo league, super cup, community shield as it means more games to play, and I struggle to find the time even now (not that il deffo be in them ofc). btw i have decided to stay on as I feel I can still find the right balance between fifa and the ten-ton of work i have :), but as I said all the extra stuff would make it more difficult.

Carl is obviously very busy so in his absence I will set the deadline for the FA Cup 2nd Round matches for this Friday & hopefully the draw for the 1/4 finals can be done Saturday.
Hazy went through last week Kardan as the deadline had passed.
