View Full Version : Not our Rivals ?
You all seem to be getting very wound up about our forthcoming visit .

Well Brighton are our rivals but the visit of every London club is special especially when that club is doing as well as you at the moment. When your at the top your just there to be shot down. Charlton have never beaten us at home in my life time and it's not a record we want to lose. I've got a lot of Charlton supporting mates who will give me an earful and as I like to see the other south London teams do well it will be a special game as well. (Almost sold out now which is good).
It does appear a small number of "revisionists" seem to see you as rivals. They shall be sent to Siberia for re education once we have the money. There are over 1000 members here. Just because a few of them are rude to you doesn't mean we don't like you. I guess they are just the un Christian sort who can't turn the other cheek after years of abuse from your idiot minority.
Hopefully on March 23rd football will be the winner. Good luck for the rest of the season (after the big game) and the next one.
------------------
We all have different "rivals" as such - for some it's Brighton, for some like Anti it's Charlton, and for others Manure. Personally I dislike Manure (pure unadulterated "we have a divine right to win every game" arrogance) and also to a lesser extent QPR (1980 theft of staff and players) and Wimbledon (ungrateful). Charlton and Millwall are no more than minor irritants as far as I am concerned - I certainly don't reciprocate the "hatred" that Charlton seem to have for us.

SE7 - Yes there is undoubtedly a rivalry, it
is a special game because many Palace and Charlton fans are friends and big p1ss taking points will be earned from this game.
Considering we won't be playing you for the one season you are in the premiership (who said you could borrow our YO-YO) the losers of the game will have to wait a while for revenge. Lets face it even taking into account Man City, Fulham and QPR theis South London derby is the fixture of the season for both teams.
Both sets of supporters could create a great atmo at Selhurst, or alternatively we could
all sit mute, politely applauding in line with the FA's modern pc view of football.

Support the Trust
The rivalry depends entirely on where you live.
if your a Surrey based E-girl you won't have much contact with Charlton, but if your bromley, Bexley or South East London based its a totaly different story.

I live in Bromley and the support of the local sides is mainly Palace, with a reasonable number of Millwall round here. Very little evidence of Charlton I'm afraid.
Come down The Shortlands Tav or White Horse, Neil, to find us Charlton.

when is SE7 gonna learn that Charlton mean nothing to us, every season you wind us up in the vain hope that we will get bothered and start considering you our "Rivals", unfortunately you are just a sad club full of anoraks, as well as the 10,000 glory hunting muppets that have supported you lot since you won at wembley. Last meeting for a while?, how do expect to stay up with s***box Hunt and NO GOALS Svennson eh?

Cool it Aunty Alice, your man wished to know of evidence of Charlton in Bromley that's all.
You twats should relax. Will you alot be begging on the streets again like the Manc City game?

Whilst the Shortlands Tav is my nearest pub, I'm not a frequent visitor, but I've never seen/heard any Charlton in there (other than on the day you went up, which was perfectly understandable and a good night was had by all).
Is the White Horse pub, the one near Freelands Tav? My step-uncle used to run it back in the 70's - is it still a old geezers Pub?
BTW I'm an anti-seaweed not addick.
Where are your LOYAL 40,000 glory hunting muppets that supported the team of the 80's.
At The Bridge, Arse, Moan U????????
We are on the up, on the the park & off of it, you are only on the slide, face it
You are now even asking Uncle 666 Ron to come back, don't you ever learn, he is only in it for himself.

Shy Coconut from Whitehorse Lane?
Thats got to be the extreme end of Charlton Territory - Mottingham/Chisehurst.
I'm glad that even the Palace fans recognise that Bromley is not our area - I don't know whether the boys or girls are the prettiest round there.
At least you'll be easy to spot next Saturday

Unfortunately you are wrong Shy Coconut. Disney's ground is owned by the shareholders and not the Disney Corp. They flogged it.
Didn't realise when you lot "played" at Selhurst and Upton Park you owned those grounds.

Unbelivable, Charlton have a little bit of success for once (and why not, they deserve it after all they've had top put up with!!) and their fans come out with all the "we're bigger than you" **** . it makes me laugh. Charlton are NOT our rivals, they never will be Brighton will ALWAYS be our rivals. Why can't you clowns accept that and stop singing "witty" songs behind our backs?
I've got a lot of Charlton supporting mates, and agree that there is a large element of pisstaking between the sets of supporters due to the two clubs being so local. That's as far as it goes, you'll NEVER be our rivals. You're an insignificant family club with a **** atmosphere and ground.
Firstly, it's understandable that with Clownton top of the league the game is going to be high profile game, Palace want to mentain our 800 year unbeaten run at Selhurst against you and it's a London derby as well. But whilst this is a big game it would be the same if any London side were in your position. Personally it's those same old Seaweed, murdering Mancs and Millwall who I hate.
To answer Valley of Kings. (didn't know you were from Bradford) Our crowds despite all our troubles with Goldjerk, Noades and administration have stayed above 14,000. However look at your own club before criticising mine, Clowntons crowds were below 10,000 just four years ago and your team were OK as well. So the sudden new found support your getting clearly shows that it is you who, to use your own words have the glory hunting muppits.
It is also you who give it large on our BBS proving that you all want to play rivals with us, whilst we don't care, I've never been on your BBS and would not want to bother.

I've never known 40,000 turn up to see their youth team, not even at ManU.
Still if you beat our Youth team in a couple of weeks, I wouldn't be that bothered. Afterall, its not as though our team has under achieved this season.
Give us Credit where credit is due, we never won a game at home in 10months in the premier, finished bottom and still averaged a gate of 22,000. Don't believe that its just like watching the wombles, where every away team brings 10,000!
Last year we finished 15th (our worst position for 15 years), and went into Administration we averaged 17,000 and I presume we'll average around that mark this year as well.
You're all so bitter- face it when you went through your **** . Your fans deserted you- apart from a loyal hardcore few. Maybe you have moved up a peg or two and the hardcore has increased, maybe it hasn't. You'll soon find out when you go through a sticky few years.

They probably do go now.
Every team picks up a few glory-hunters when it has a modicum of success doesn't it?

No RR its just a really crap question.
What happened to the 100,000 that used to watch the Cup Final?
Answer they put in a load of seats and reduced the capacity to 80,000.
Selhurst's capacity is now less than 30,000.
But then Valley King knows all about this. I'm told they built a new legoland stand where there used to be vast expanse of open concrete. Fortunately I haven't been to the caravan park since about 1984.

We have some very bitter young visitors on here today. Calm down please so we can talk sensibly.
I have to disagree with the fan who said those of us who live in Bromley see Charlton as our rivals. It will only ever be Brighton.I've never really noticed that many Charlton fans in Bromley, where I live, but it may be a generational thing. There's more Millwall than Charlton if anything. Still Palace appear to be number one. (Hurray, number one in Bromley, big thrill).
"Hasn't this discussion been had a 1000 times before"? I find myself thinking as I write. Yes it has. Would you prefer to talk about football rather than pretend rivalries?

David Bowie was from Brixton.Come on lads let the muppets enjoy their little bit of fame, afterall they have waited long enough to be able to say "we are better than you".It must have been very hard for them over the years what with us always caning them on the pitch and having far superior fans, getting to numerous cup semi finals and finals and producing many international players. Now when they can achieve anywhere near the above they might be able to take the piss out of us properly.

"You'll never know just how much I love you until you've taken my Palace away"
Matt_Hep' get it into your head. Palace is not local to Charlton - you are about as close to us as Tottenham and just as difficult to travel to (10 miles or so). West Ham is three miles from Charlton (crow flying), Millwall is 4. That is why Charlton fans were happier to share at Upton Park.
There is no rivalry between us - just pure hatred on our part.

It was hilarious on Boxing day to see all the kids at Charlton singing "we hate Palace" we couldn't help laughing and then aptly responding with "we only hate Brighton!".
That little ditty was sung by the whole ground not just the kids. It just goes to show the strength of feeling you lot now evoke even amongst the shirts. I'm sure you'll get a special mention up at Main Road today and after next Saturday you might even nuture the same feelings.

Thought I would just see what the net addicks webs like wish I had not bothered their rubbishing svensson and think we have crash landed what say we? they`ve even got a site dedicated to taking the pee out of us what a sad bunch of losers they are
Firstly to the majority of Charlton fans reading this..... to get to Selhurst Park you need to go to either Norwood Junction or Selhurst station, there are regular services from London Bridge or Victoria. I tell you this because in the past none of you have turned up so it is a new ground for most of you I reckon.
Secondly I'd just like to say that the size of a club should be judged on the size of its loyal support not closet glory hunters coming out of the woodwork.
Thirdly WE HATE BRIGHTON........

Whole ground=kids
When charlton moved back to the Valley it is common knowledge that the local council tried to market the club back to the local community and kids were especially targeted. This resultwed in Charlton becoming the "ultimate family club". I know a few Charlton fans who are pissed off with the "family club" label, as they were the 5,000 or so hardocre fans that stuck by the club at Selhurst only to see the club over run with kids on arrival back at the Valley. This is why your atmosphere was laughable when all the ground (meaning all the kids) stasrted singing "we hate Palace". It couldn't have been any less intimmidating if you'd tried! This is another reason why Palace consider Charlton to be an "insignificant" club, it is pathetic for you to keep singing anti Palace songs when you know that we'll just be laughing! Man City away was a good example of this, anyone watching on T.V could hear the schoolboys singing "we hate Palace" and it made us crack up to think that you still bother.
Why is it that when Charlton were relegation doomed from the premier the media say "Oh no wouldn't it be a shame if that lovely little club were to be relegated, with their friendly family support and their quaint little ground... etc blah blah".
Now. When Palace are teetering (a regular occurence I grant you), the rest of football is urging us to drop. A big Club with a big following, like a big player, will always be hated, booed and ridiculed by those inferior to it.
Go away little Charlton, you are truly unworthy of the rivalry of the great Crystal Palace Football Club. Go and pick on someone your own size... like Gillingham.
We've been rivals with Brighton since long before the days when your 'Firm' were a mere glint in the transexual docker's eye.

Matt_Hep :-
There are some kids but not nearly enough. We have approximately 3,500 Junior reds. A survey of our fans found that the majority of our fans are 30+. we are missing the 20 - 30 age group as a result of defecting to Selhurst in the dark ages.
Despite being one of the most expensive grounds in the Division to visit, we will sell all our allocation against you but there will be very few kids as a result of your rip off prices.
Dario & Co.
Keep the anorak jibes up - when you get into the Homesdale take a good look around and you'll be spoilt for choice.

To all Charlton fans, I have a bigger hatred towards South Melbourne than I do towards you boys. Palaces true rivals, are and always will be the Brighton Filth.
To hear Chorlton fans singing about how much they hate us is amusement in itself. Come into the holmesdale we'll give you all a big hug just coz we love our smaller and less significant friends from the Valley sooo much http://cpfc-bbs.com/ubb/smile.gif
Well I knew all those years ago by looking in my tea leaves that you nookies would get

Unfortunatley DSS money will not be enough to
