Have read and heard a lot about the new grading of clubs youth teams from next year (i believe) but does anybody have any real information rather than hear say about how its all going to work and the rules of it?

Clubs will be free to sign academy players from the entire country as of next season.

'United and their Premier League rivals, plus those Football League clubs with academy licences, can only source players aged between 14-16 from within a 90-minute radius of their home ground, however. That is reduced to 60 minutes for those under 14. In contrast, Spanish clubs can recruit from the whole country.

The 90-minute ring-fence is expected to be reviewed at the Premier League’s annual meeting next week. It is unlikely that the Spanish system will be adopted, with a more realistic outcome being a relaxation of some of the restrictions.'

No information I could find other than that when I looked the other day.

Badly for us I'm guessing, but Chelski & Arse will have about 10 youth teams, all with no prospect of ever getting a game in the senior squad

Did I read yesterday that Man United are going to set up a London based academy to get around this?

Don't see Chelsea or Arsenal affecting us anymore than they already do, both have developement centres in the area already.

yeah but if they can nick better players than they already have..................not many (any?) 'home grown' players get into those sides

The article says nothing of the sort - it says some guidelines are expected to be relaxed and the Spanish system (i.e. signing players from anywhere) is unlikely to be adopted.

Under this scheme would we still have got Jon Williams? Although Welsh, did he live/go to school locally?

But Chelseas catchment area must already be very close to ours and Arsenals at least half way in to ours. TBH going off what i have heard i don't think much will change for us.

London Transport I'm guessing... which translate to about a 2 miles radius in my mind.
