Malaga goalkeeper Pedro Contreras has explained his mixed emotions after replacing the injured Santiago Canizares in Spain's World Cup squad.
"This is a bitter-sweet day," he told our correspondent. "It's like a weird film from an extravagant director."
Contreras was called up on Friday night when Canizares dropped a bottle of aftershave on his foot. The broken glass cut through a tendon, forcing him out of action for two months.
"I got a call from Malaga and at first I thought it was a joke," added Contreras. "Then I realised it was all true. I felt really sad and shocked at the same time.
Better than dropping a cross I suppose
:D
