just wondering if any of you guys play regularly in cash games and comps in london. i play at the vic/palm beach but started off at the old gutshot i play at quite a high level 5/10 and above normally. I also play the some ept's and wpt's as well as vegas for wsop sometimes. if any of you are live players then you will probably know my face. be good to say hello

Play online a ton, what does 5/10 equate to in skill level online would you say?

i would reckon that a good winning 2/4 reg playing on stars could crush most 5/10 games. sometimes the line ups are horrible but for the most the regs in london live games are pretty bad

A mate of mine won the Sunday million on Pokerstars last Sunday. 7,150 players on-line @ $215 a go gave him $213k. Decent money for 12 hours.

I'd say even a decent 100NL player online would crush casino 5/10. Thinking about hitting up Int Club and Empire a bit more soon.

I don't see it as gambling, I see it as a game like any other. You need certain skills of a very high quality such as reading people, maths (lots), memory, knowledge of gameplay of others, when to bet, how much to bet, what others betting says about their cards (like Negreanu), with a bit of chance in the cards.
Compare it to football, you need a different set of skills, granted, but the element of chance is still there, bad surfaces, freak weather, balloons/cats on the pitch etc.

excellent, friendly and well run club.i play there often. Cash games 24/7, and probably best club for tournaments in London at the moment.

They have just announced promo for May, 200k of guaranteed prize pools. I will be playining the monthly 300, 25k gtd, there tomorrow.

Nice! thanks for the info. I havent played much since the early days of the Big Slick opening where I had a few decent finishes but Fox being on my doorstep has got me interested again. Not sure my bankroll can go as far as 300 but you have to start somewhere.

Built up a nice live br recently, made 6 buy ins at 1/1 in Leeds last weekend and 4 at Int club 1/1 week before.

Its their flagship monthly comp...plenty of tournaments at much smaller buyins. Plus theres are satellites at 11pm tonight and noon tomorrow to the 300 which are only 35

Wednesday and Thursday 7pm comps are really popular at 35 and 45 and should make up to 3k plus pools

No not at the moment although i am in Neil's ear about it all the time lol...its my "home" online site and I was up to Green belt but down 1 to Purple at the moment.

The problem for me with Neil's sponsorship system is that to get to Blue Belt where live backing begins is a huge jump in points (12k to 50k) a month and represents quite a commitment in terms of time and bankroll on grinding online. Because i primarily have my success at live tourneys and cash its hard for me to commit the time to getting there and then maintaining it, which is a pity. I have argued the point with Neil but he understandably wants to stick with the system to avoid confusion.

A lot of the current blues/browns like Kevin Williams, Jamie Burland, Sam Razavi, Jerome Bradpiece originally got the belts through a "grading" process which was a one off exercise involving ginding for a month, and going through various selection hoops (I think to get the site and its pro team up and running at its inception) - I missed a crucial weekend cos I just happened to be on a GUKPT final table at the time (lol brag) so couldnt complete grading. Planned to do the next one but they stopped running them.

So for now I just potter along at purple/green picking up points to use for onlione buyins etc and playing on the live circuit - either off my own roll or selling %'s to backers as and when if i play 500's up - cash I generally am found at the Vic/Empire or Fox on 1/2 so a bit below your stakes but really only cos not rolled for higher - would be confident of beating up to 5/10 at the Vic certainly

Slightly long winded answer to a simple question!!

Surely a computer couldn't lose to a person at poker in the long run.

But if you can think in pure maths terms then you can't be beat in the long run. The least mathematical errors would have to win in the end.

Playing day 2 of the 888 SuperStack today at the Mint casino in Kensington. Had a bad last few levels on Friday so only going back with 10BB, only half the average though so definitely still in with a shout. 7k up top.

Wish me luck!
