Have any people on here been concerned about their safety due to the platform rebuilding work at selhurst station?

This is only a problem after the game but against brighton it was the worst I can rememeber .
The work has been going on for most of the season it seems but nothing has been done recently .

I have created an album here http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150543874704160.385284.760884159&type=1 for people to see .

I used to hop off of late night trains there making unscheduled stop for the depot. When I say hop off, I mean jump off. You need a parachute.

Handy for my house on Whitehorse Lane, saved a taxi fare that could be invested in an Emeks.

I did that once - it slows down but never quite stops - the driver does it to let off a fellow worker. Timing is eveything - it's all about judging when it is at its slowest before it speeds up again:afro:

The photo of platform three is a little concerning. The yellow line at indicates a safe position on a platform when fast train passes. However seeing as for the majority of the platform the hoarding is at the same distance from the platform train interface (platform edge) there isn't a safe area.

If you are concerned contact the ORR, write to Southern and if you are not happy complain to London Travel Watch.

With 6 or more pints in you. Don't think I ever took a tumble. I did once at somewhere like West Croydon though, still remember the laughter ringing in my ears.

I should have said that i have raised a complaint with southern by email ,but just got a standard reply saying it would be looked at you will be contacted back. i also raised an issue on twitter but i just got fobbed off.

I have asked the club if they are aware of this problem on the CPFC2010 thread so I will wait and see.

It was a bit naff when the Police directed us there after the Millwall game. Unlikely they can speed up the building work but perhaps the Police could work with Southern next time to ensure the trains going through there after a high-security match are formed of eight rather than four coaches.

Loved the late night unscheduled stop when I lived down Whitehorse road, a drunken pal of mine went arse over tit on the ice once & started making a snow angel.

The building work should be finished by April 2012 .

At least that's promising.

So only 8 more home matches to get through unscathed!!! It would help if they stopped an additional train at Selhurst for people to get to East Croydon on a match day which might alleviate some of the overcrowding instead of us having to watch them speed past.

Even without the works going on, never understod why they don't do this?

Also only seems to be one train an hour to East Grinstead rather than the two, certainly on the way up.

On the way back there appears to only be the 17:09 from Selhurst to East Croydon, the next one being 17:39 which misses the East Grinstead connection. Means I would get back to Forest Row about 7 o'clock !!

Although they are suggesting Selhurst bus to Norwood Junction, then Norwood Junction to East Croydon at 17:15ish.

youve got no chance of getting a bus from selhurst to norwood junction that arrive as 17.15. The game probably wont finish until 5pm anyway

I use Thornton Heath station, much less hassle.

Sorry suggested bus was due to leave Selhurst 17:15. But if Norwood Junction is up the creek anyway that's pointless.

17:09 train could be possible but if game doesn't finish till 5, and with more people going to Selhurst and the icy small access path/building restrictions, it's possible to get to selhurst station by 17:09 but whether we're able to get onto the train is another matter.

Looks like a walk to E Croydon is on...

I need the fast connection to Victoria or the train to Eastbourne that used to stop at Selhurst after the game.

2012 regarding Selhurst station.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in our response.

I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the*size of the*platform*at Selhurst. We are aware that some stations can become overcrowded at certain times and do understand the discomfort that this causes for passengers. We monitor all our stations*regularly and try to make sure any improvements are made if there are more instances such as this.

The forecasts of attendances has been lower than what is actually achieved which has made it difficult to decide how large the platform would need to be. Southern liaise with the British Transport Police and agree what requirements are needed based on the game in question.

I have passed on your comments to our Escalations team, who will contact the right department to ensure that the size of the station is taken into account, and any improvements that need to made will be. In addition to this, I have passed on your comment regarding lack of toilet facilities at Selhurst, to ensure that they also reach the correct department.

Does anyone know of any problem at Selhurst on Saturday for the Cardiff game ? Southern Railway journey planning is taking me to Norwood Junction instead of Selhurst.
