Won't see any medals decided but hopefully some exciting action. Bit underwhelmed by the football but I've not been to the new Wembley yet.

Went to the Crystal Palace meet on the Saturday which was a nice warm-up for the Athletics. Goldie Sayers was tremendous, great run from Ohurugu and a shock with Pearson getting beat in the 100mH. Don't expect a huge amount of drama but should be fun watching the scramble for qualifyin spots in the 800 and 1500.

29th July Evening: Men's Boxing - Lightweight and Welterweight Round of 32.
31 July Evening: Women's Hockey - Argentina vs USA, Germany Vs Australia
1 August Afternoon: Men's Football: South Korea vs Gabon
04 August Morning: Men's Basketball - Tunisia vs France, Spain Vs Qualifier
06 August Morning: Athletics - W100mH R1, M800m R1, W1500m R1, WShotPut Qual, MDiscus Qual.

30 July and 2 August - team GB hockey both evenings.

Other than that I'm currently trying to work out where I can get to on Box Hill for free for the men's road race on the 28th.

The cycling time trials also go straight past the office on the 1st. I expect most people will work from home due to the road closures, hopefully allowing those of us that are here to sneak outside to see at least the British riders go past.

Was lucky and got tickets for half a dozen relatively minor events in the first round. Rowing heats, hockey, Judo and waterpolo preliminaries, some gymnastics of some description, and some canoe sprint finals. Will see medals decided at the last two.

Was then jammy enough to log on to the ticket site at just the right time and picked up tickets for the first evening athletics. Includes womens 10,000m and mens shot put finals, a couple of early heptathlon events, and a load of heats.

Can't wait :lux: :lux: :lux: :lux: :lux:

I was intending to go to more events, but my broken ankle has put a spanner in the works. I'm still planning to go to the evening session of the Athletics on 9 August - definitely worth hobbling along to that. I may also go to the football quarter final in Cardiff on 4 August - especially if GB are in it.

However, I'm not now going to the beach volleyball on 30 July, NZ v Belarus football on 26 July, GB v Uruguay and Mexico v Switzerland football on 1 August or the Old Trafford semi final on 7 August.

My summer of sports has been decimated - I had tickets for England v France in the Euros, England v Australia ODI at Lord's, England v South Africa Day 3 at the Oval and Ladies QF day at Wimbledon. On top of that I'm ruled out of Palace v Watford as I won't be able to drive there from our holiday (which wasn't that popular in the first place).

went last night to the dress rehearsal of the opening ceremony. Absolutely breathtaking. Very British. Quite dark at times, funny at other times. tarts off a little twee but then it builds and builds into something VERY spectacular. Do not miss it!

I took a few snaps but won't post them anywhere - Danny Boyle asked us not to.

Security was red hot but they were pretty relaxed about people taking food and bags and stuff.

And if anyone is attending any events in the Olympic Park allow LOTS of time to get in and out.

Always looking for more, and more are put up every day - just have to be lucky to be on the website at the right time.

Also going to go and watch as much free stuff as possible - marathons (running and swimming), triathlon, cycling road races and time trials.

Will try and watch some stuff on big screens too - Hyde Park etc.

Excited.

The bike race at boxhill as it is in walking distance for my family but i do fear the combination of huge crowds and the restriction of only allowing 15000 paying spectators on the main part of race through boxhill is going to cuase chaos for everyone else. some cycling sites are predicting over 1 milllion fans in the boxhill area alone:eek:http://www.wandsworthguardian.co.uk/news/9841554.Travel_warning_ahead_of_Olympic_race/
The TFL advice about staying at home and watching it on telly instead of traveling acknowledges the fact it might of be total chaos on the day.

Went to the Rowing this morning, and it was absolutely superb. It was friendly and well organised, the security didn't feel in any way obtrusive and the venue was really nice. In terms of the sport itself, got to see seven races, saw two Olympic records broken, and it only cost 20 each (and that included the cost of travel to and from the venue!).

If the other things I go to are as much fun as today, I'm going to be very happy.

Off to the hockey this afternoon and then the men's 100m tonight.

Can't believe I'm saying this but almost feels like an anti climax after last night. Simply awesome.

(bit of advice please from anyone who came home from the athletics Friday or Saturday night. Last night was very easy as I parked at Ebsfleet and to come home there was virtually no queue at Stratford intl and the train was 10 mins to Ebsfleet. However I'm having lunch in London beforehand today so can't go via this route. Was the queue at Stratford for the jubilee line horrendous, what about the DLR at Stratford Intl).

I got the DLR from Stratford International to Woolwich Arsenal last week after a day at the Park. Virtually no-one there, everybody went to Stratford. But to get to central London you'd have to change at Stratford, West Ham or Canning Town which are all on the Jubilee line anyway.

You're probably better off getting the javelin train one stop to St Pancras - I think the free travelcards are valid on those.

Thanks for that, much appreciated, I think it may be a bit different this week as the athletics has started and so more people. The DLR better direction wise for me than central London as will go to lewisham and get a cab to beckenham.
