Watching today and it was very apparant that despite pretty much all events and venues being sold out, there were still alot of empty seats at certain sessions (The morning swimming session being a fine example).

I know corporate involvement is a must in this day and age, and a large allocation of tickets are issued to corporate investors/sponsors, but is this going to be a on going issue the next two weeks?

It's just very frustrating to see, especially when you have so many people that would genuinely LOVE to be at these events.

Loads and loads of tickets released this evening on official site. I almost bought 100m final for 420 then decide to go for track cycling for 150 then site crashed.

When I finally got back on nearly everything sold out

It's a total disgrace.
As you say, lots of people would love to be at these events.

Same for the beach volleyball this morning. Lots of empties in the expensive seats.

If prices are high then how do they expect the general public to fork out for sports that are miniscule in Britain to start with??

Womens handball for instance is only big here in Norway and in Denmark and basically nowhere else. Small wonder people in London don't turn up to watch a sport they've never even heard about?!? Give tickets to kids for free if you can't sell them cheaply or sponsors won't have them.

Just shows how the benefits of the corporate side and the aledged UK business deals is overdone by the Olympic committee

Loads of goonery at the cycling rack and file 10/12 deep lining the streets..

When the poor British chap Cavendish crossed the line, expensive seats all empty.

If these seats have been paid for & no bugger sitting there after say half hour, they should let Joe Public in for nowt!

And that would cause problems with the paying public, who half the time didn't get a sport they even like. The whole thing is a mess.

1st come 1 served at venues at knock down price should be the way forward advertised daily

Olympics venues are "stuffed to the gunnels" with sports fans, London 2012 chairman Lord Coe has insisted amid a row over empty seats.

What happened to G4S`s tickets ? Seeing as they banned staff from going after the security fiasco according to the Sunday Times.

Coe responded on TV by saying his cunning plan would be to fill the seats with Service personnel, teachers and volunteers and that it had always been planned to do this.
Presumably that means they knew the corporate types would buy seats and not turn up but they still did it to get the maximum dosh. Very Olympian!

Lord Coe said the seats were stuffed. What he meant to say was that the expensive seats were stuffed and well padded for corporate bums.

Well, he might not have said bums.

I think he was referring to the general public.

You get tickets for 2 matches (double session), those who watched the firstgame have gone home, maybe some Swiss people, other foriegners etc not interested in this game?!

Not sure if its different today, but on Thursday your ticket was for the whole day (12 -8 approx) I am sure there will be some people who have left to make their way home, but if you go to Wimbledon on a regular basis during most games people will drift in and out to take a break or have a walk around to soak up the atmosphere. If you try and sit through every game in every match you will get a very sore backside:D

Oh and on Thursday as people left they were letting people in to watch who only had ground pass tickets or who had been on Court 1 which had finished.

The most empty section on Thursday was the "press area"
