So far for me:
1. Men's gymnastic team making the finals (and putting in a fantastic performance so far - Oldham just came off high bar as I typed it :( )
2. Armiststead getting silver in the road cycling
3. Women's beach volleyball beating Canada

well, it's still v early days
1. The opening ceremony - awesome
2. Armiststead getting silver in the road cycling - sat down in front of the telly to watch the start, thinking that after a few minutes I'd get up and do a few jobs round the house. Almost four hours later I was still sat there! Superb race.
3. Men's gymnastic team geting bronze - fantastic performance all round

GB women are doing very well in the indoor volleyball against Algeria. Have already won our first ever set, but are currently 2-1 down. They are still in with a shout though

Didn't want to post till they won but what a game that was. Can't say that Algeria didn't make it easier than it should of been, but it took a lot of guts to win that game. Ciara Michel got me interested, but the game kept me watching.
Hopefully they'll get their funding back now and can push on.

Forgot to mention Zoe Smith also breaking the British record today - and she is still only 18. Lots of potential and goes against the typical weightlifter 'masculine' female - she is a really nice girl.

Mildly annoyed with some of the negative comments about the performance in the pool - Mark Foster made a great point that in Sydney we had just 4 people make finals, this time we have had 10 already with more to come - huge improvement - and even without medals a great achievement.

Quite. I've been quite impressed and proud of our swimmers. Sure, we'd like more medals, but there are other people there, too, trying just as hard.

i was at the womens volleyball last night but left at 1 set all, the difference in the 2 teams compared to the first game italy vs japan was huge so many more mistakes, GB did brilliant though against a high ranked country.
Forme the best moments so far have been the unexpected ones. From the Brazilian Judoka that beat the number 1 in the world to the 16 year old Lithuanian that one gold in the pool. When you see the emotion on their faces you realise how much it means to them and how much of their life they devote to their sport.

The South African swimmer who beat Phelps to Gold was very emotional.
Team GB beating Brazil in women's footie a great achievment too.

They have definitely dropped off the pace since Beijing. Maybe they should get some Chinese coaches.
Looks like we will be the first host country in history to actually have a worse performance at home than overseas - that's a notable achievement of a kind, (I blame the girly-boy generation ;) ).
Looks like another mis-selling scandal to me, I reckon we should demand all the lottery fund money back and give it to some worthwhile charity.:( :hmph:

The Canoeing was amazing.
The scenes at the end with them all jumping in the water and celebrating together were very fitting; Team GB is a team, and everyone seems to in it together.
And this evening in the velodrome was just superb. Chris Hoy and Co completely demolished everyone.
Another superb day for British sport.

Massive congratulations to Pete Wilson for hitting gold in the double trap.
How anyone could be so single minded so as to become the worlds best at such a tedious shooting discipline is beyond me. Determination beyond pleasure, awesome win.
