Ive loved the track cycling tonight!
Just a general point but I feel a bit cheated they way they've really cut down on the track cycling events yet there is what seems like hundreds of swimming events.

Are you refering to the individual pursuit being missing (re. UCI being a bit twatish) or the team pursuit being brilliant?

Thr former, im really dissapointed that the individual pursuit has been removed, it seems non sensical to remove such an exciting event.

What do people think about Baugé?
I have a suspicion he was keeping something back today regardless of the team.
The individual sprint will be very interesting. Whilst Baugé has the explosive power to put everyone away he was in bits when Kenny did the early one at the worlds - suggests he doesn't have the 'speed endurance'. Whilst he won he had difficulty even climbing on to the medal podium when they did it - and that was in the last round.
Do it early and destroy him I say - he's not having a good 'war' (reference his twitter).

I do struggle to see why the UCI chop and change the events so much, and also impose the one rider per event rule - no other sport seems to change their formats so much, nor get so upset when one team does well.
The appetite for cycling is great a the moment so you would think they want to make it clear and understandable, plus if you have more competitors you get longer sessions and more spectators........QED

Think the post box idea is excellent. I know this is a special Olympics but I think they should do this for every Olympics. This would be another type of legacy and ensure that youngsters in that area are aware that they too could be potential gold medalists. It also may encourage a bit more local pride.

Excellent idea, in a year when English Heritage is having to halve the number of Blue Plaques it puts up to commemorate local connections, this is a positive thing that needs to be encouraged.

I don't think we should do it at every Olympics, but these should be left as a lasting legacy for the London 2012 event.

Nope, read it on the Royal Mail website although I can't find it now.
This story from The Mail does also mention it though.

******* cheating ******* Australians.
I felt Mears drew the 'foul'. She's good at this sort of shit and has form for it. I think if you're supporting someone you're inclined to think 'cow' but a neutral would see it as 'using her experience'.
However she had her completely in the second sprint - surprised she didn't show form earlier except for the sprint qualifying time trial. She rode like a drain largely otherwise. Bit of kidology perhaps.
But a great week's entertainment.

The comments on L'Equipe are hilarious at the moment. They seem to be accusing us of taking the best of the 1970's East German doping system, adding a bit of Chinese gene therapy and hiding electric motors in the bikes.
Its not just the cycling, they seem convinced that something is up for GB to win so many medals in different sports. Lets hope they don't find out about the bionic horses and the mini sub that tows the rowing boats.

Attention AICAR! ;)
The comment fields of l'equipe articles are full of mental trolls. You really have to treat anything you read there with a pinch of salt - I actually find it funny now but used to find it slightly irksome given that I'd bothered to make a mild effort to read them.
The more sensible people seemed to be smoked out when they started on Hoy TBF.
