SILKEBORG IF striker Henrik Pedersen has said that he would be interested in a move to England with Nationwide First Division side Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old has said that he has heard some very favourable reports of Palace, managed by Alan Smith (pictured), saying that he would relish the challenge of the English game.

"In case I should go abroad, England is the place where I would prefer to play," said Pedersen in Danish daily BT.

"I have only heard good things about the English First Division and Crystal Palace, who have played in the Premier League and have the experience.

"I haven't heard anything from Silkeborg, but it sounds really interesting."

Only heard good things about Palace??? Maybe the club's PR machine is better than we have been giving it credit for.

Those two players were never THAT good! Svensson had a nice little run, but apart from that didn't do anything. He has gone onto do sod all for Charlton.

Herman has had more success and I liked him, but I still wouldn't rate him as a class defender - more of a tryer. Perhaps that is why people have fond memories of them both.

He obviously doesn't read all the negative crap posted on the BBS.

Oh sorry, it's "constructive criticism".

Yep, he was. Some people think that it is Scandinavian though! It is cold and 'up north' anyway! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif

Strictly speaking, only Sweden, Denmark and Norway are in 'Scandinavia' I believe.

Originally the term referred only to the Sweden/Norway peninsula ('Scedenig' in Old English). Common usage later included Denmark in the term.

However, again by common usage, Iceland and Finland may also now be included in the term. Dictionary definition:

'The collective name of Norway, Sweden, Denmark and sometimes also Finland and Iceland.'

Apologies Latvian Eagle, I didn't realise that Iceland was part of Scandinavia.

However according to MY official source (sorry I cannot reveal it...it would break a confidence):

Only Norway and Sweden are 'true' Scandinavian countries. Denmark and Iceland are only known by the term in a historical sense.

From what I can make out Finland has never been known as Scandinavian, apart from people who just lump it with the rest of the countries from that part of the world.

Fascinating isn't it? I'll get me coat.
