Even better to see Foolham in 59th.
The glory hunters now have no place to hide.
Interesting reading Top Eagle, be interesting over the next ten years.
If i was awkward, i would mention that out of that ten years covered, four of them we didn't have a ground, 2 of them we had an avereage of 8,337, 2 of them we had an average of 12,000 and 2 with an average of 16,000.
But i'm not.
So i won't.
Does bring home how much Charlton have progressed in such a short space of time though ?

Doesn't represent much, as 99% of the top tier have been in the top flight although I suppose you can translate that to success. Amazing how Wolves have stuck by their team, the next under achievers seem to be West Brom. A match made in heaven for those two.
Coke- we havn't had our OWN ground since Ron decided to buy it off the club for a couple of hundred grand.
I do give fair dues to Charlton they have retained higher attendances since they went down and back up
I would be intrested to see the overall trends
27 QPR 2835525 206 13765
I suspect that will drop and drop over time
Fulham is classic also

Many congratulations to Brighton for having such a huge support they even have to squeeze more people than allowed into their massive 6-odd thousend capacity running track.
Are they looking to build a real ground or is that a permanent home now?
We are trying to get planning permission now for a 20k seater stadium, hope it comes off cos our ground is ****e like you say. But at least we fill it, noticed we had the 3rd highest gate in divs 2 & 3 at the weekend. Cant be bad.
Also the only reason we are quite low in the first attendance league posted is that we had to play in Gillingham for 2 years and endure a 150 mile round trip to watch our team, and therefore only averaged 2800 crowds. Still not bad considering.
Top Eagle, so what if I was a poof? would you like to meet up it its the case? XXXX

It just confirms what we already know - that they have a lot of fans of other clubs and drifters who want a bit of success, turning up while they're having a bit of glory.

"We are trying to get planning permission now for a 20k seater stadium"
Then you'll drop to the bottom of that list with a 28% groundfill. Stay where you are, it suits a tiny tin pot conference side like yourselves.

Albion Jack,
you may be getting a 20000 stadium, which would make you like Wimblescum. 6000 in a 26,000 ground!
Go to charlton, and pack some fudge, you dirty botty boy!

So the 21,000 Man U have gained 14,000 Derby and the 26,000 that Sunderland appear to have gained were all fans of other clubs as well ????
RDSdaEagle, if you had a grasp of logic and mathmatics you would probably be able to work out that as we sell out our 6,000 seater stadium which we are NOT even allowed to sell tickets for on the day of a match then with a bigger ground we would get bigger crowds, wed even let away teams bring more than 700 supporters.
Also having the 2nd best crowds in our division it is likely that as we move up the leagues (Not that Im saying we will http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif) we will start to attract far more supporters.
Charlton 7 years ago where attracting half of what they get now.
So to put it simply, stop being thick, you are a student after all, no? Waste of tax payers money if you cant even work out these simple things?
Wonder what crowds Palarse would get if they where in Div 3?

1) No AD, they were attracting far less than that.
2) Keep wondering, it's long term reality for you but never will be for us.

Well Albion Dan, Palace set, and still have the record attendance for the third division. As I remember, it was around 30,000+, but i'm not tottally sure. Although our attendances have addmitadely reduced in recent years, we still have a season ticket sale of 10000+ per season. I think we would get about 14000-16000 fans per home game.
And yes, I am a student, but no, I don't waste tax payers money, unlike you people with all that cr@p about Clause 28!
Whats Clause 28 got to do with taxpayers money?

Jesus I have started it off again!!!! Sorry for all those bored with this sort of chat.
Albion Julian, if we were 3rd (which will never happen) division we would double what you have got.
Coke, dont think you should reflect charltons recent upturn in support with the Manc's we all know their fans live 200 miles away from the ground and only support them for the silverware, and are hated up and down the country. Think your support is far better than that however recent the upturn has come.
I just hope for Palace's sake (not for the sake of this argument) that we attract new support to average over 20,000 a game soon, the atmosphere is far better and it is more revenue for the club. Although I would not like to see a flag with "Torquay Eagles" on it, think that misses the point of supporting the local team.

Man Utd are a big enough commercial success that they appeal to people from all over the country and even the world.
Derby haven't suddenly found 14,000 fans and struggle to fill Pride Park most times.
Sunderland (like Newcastle) have always had a big enough fan base in the first place - but not always the stadium to support it.

If you wasn't so blinkered then you would of put us in that category. I can rememner going not too many years ago to Ayresome with 6,000, Roker with 12,000 and St James with 18,000. But we can't call the North East glory boys now can we, they're the best fans in the world.

Agree with you on that one. I wondered myself how moving from Roker Park( (where they rarely sold out) to the SOL, with twice the capacity, would be good investment. It's paid off, though. Both Newcastle and sunderland have 'exploited' the fan base well. Newcastle had 37,000 for the match against Leyton Orient (worthless cup 2nd round)You have to give them credit for that!!!?! The only other club that could do that would be Manc plc.Chelsea had only 17,000 in a european game.....

If you DID have a big enough fan base then yes I would admit it - but the simple fact is you never have and never will. Charlton
have a small fan base that will always stay that way, and is only added to by the number of "floaters" you can continually claim !
Kinda fits quite nicely with "gypo's" really http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif
And who said I called the North East the

It's the clownton scum that is taking the p*ss. You should stop believing the papers who say that they are such nice fans. Wear a Palace shirt in SE7 and you'll find another side to them.

If you can find any Charlton fans. There are a few more at the moment, but they will all become Arsenal, Tottenham & Chelsea as the season progresses.

The reason for you supposedly having an attendance of 5000+ for the 1st round was either:
1) Your bullsh!ting
2) Your bullsh!ting
3) Your Bullsh!ting
4) That's the only cup you've got a chance of succeeding in, and that is what your crowd think. Go's to show how sh!te your teams support is, if you can ONLY get 5000 for a league game!
