I find it strange that Smith struggled to motivate some of the new signings for so long and may have only started gaining a little respect after a third of the season. I can only believe that Jordan had a big say in some of the buys and that Smith has had to work with players he didn't necessarily identify himself.
I have always thought that Smith has been a good talent spotter (Shaw, Salako, Armstrong etc).
Perhaps that is why Jordan is backing him so strongly and why they seem to have so many heated "discussions".
