this is my 30th season of watching Fulham play, and during that time ive seen Palace play many times, but your performance on wednesday was the worst ive ever seen from you,Ruddock ,Jamie smith,Andy Morrison and to a lesser degree Jamie Pollock were a disgrace with their pub style football,Palace until now have always been known as a footballing side, not anymore.
Noades,Goldberg,Venables,Smith and Jordan(getting rid of Coppel)have all helped to put your side into its current decline, the only way to stop it now is with fan power we did it at Fulham and you can do it at Palace.
If Jordan stopped going to Palace would you keep going ,yes of course you would,If you stopped going would Jordan keep going,no of course not,
without your action Palace are almost certainly heading to Div 2,whether you beleive this or not i dont give a toss but Fulham were barely trying even resting Hayles and Melville
Oh and one last point what happened to your oh so great support ,Burnley brought as many as you and that was during the fuel strike!

I'm surprised by what you say. I thought the team showed a bit of fight.
I'm not surprised attendence was down on last year. To pay £13 to stand in the rain on a crumbling terrace is no fun. It too k 15 minutes to get in and 15 to get out. There was inadequate toilet facilities and the catering ran out of food. The crowd looked quite big from where i stood and it was your biggest attendence of the season so it can't have been that small.

Are you sure you've been going that long Jay from this and earlier comments you've made - doesn't sound like it to me.

So Burnley bought 4,000 fans did they ? - as you say - you've been following Fulham for a "long" time - perhaps you need stronger prescription specs ???

I thought you was a closet Fulham fan Oisin you could have surrounded yourself with the warmth of the Hammy End if only you had asked.
Nice to see you still dont answer the footy questions though ?

Dont make yourself look a plank Arussell he said Burnley brought as many as you about 1,400, if you had have brought 4,000 the crowd would have been capacity

At a guess Palace took 4,000 supporters to tonight's match. I wonder how many 'Fulham' supporters will be making the long journey to Selhurst Park on 17 March?

I had two tickets for a box and could have sat in the directors box if I'd wanted to but I prefer to watch the game with Palace fans.
I didn't see a football question only some ludicrous statement about us being a football side. I'm 25 and we've never been a football side in all that time. I've seen way worse performances and teams than the one we put out tonight wearing red and blue. I don't think we'll go down but anything is possible. I'll be able to get the away attendance tomorrow (and that of Burnley) so we'll
see.

Are you blind or plain stupid ?

Apart from a small area to the left we FILLED the terrace. I seem to remember it holds 4,000 or more myself - but then you've probably not been going to the Cottage that long.

Odd too that your own fans were claiming the same attendance against Blackburn when they hardly bought anyone down on a Sunday and all the Foolham ends were full.

I've never read so much b0llocks in my life.

a) You write like a nine year old
b) We haven't been a footballing side for 20 years
c) What fan power? What did you all do? Did you say to yourselves "we're not going anymore until some mega-rich (edited) buys the club and pumps 70 million quid in and even then we'll drift back slowly as the bandwagon gets rolling"...because that's the way it looks from here.

**** off to the Premier League and don't come back. Tossers.

Irritating though it is to have so many Fulham fans suddenly appearing, not to mention the ones who have been going every week for fifty years going on about it(!) I think this guy has a point.

I didn't go last night cause I was stuck at work but it always interests me to hear what other supporters think of our team/support. The comments made by Jay seem to suggest that it is obvious to the opposition that something is seriously wrong. Surely it's no coincidence that the same players keep coming up for critiscism, Morrison, Ruddock, and Harrison. Now I'm a Ruddock supporter in that everybody had their own opinions before he had even kicked a ball and he would have been crap even if he'd scored twenty and saved a dozen penalties by now! It has to be said that he has come in for his fair share of abuse from "all sections" of the BBS community and this does need to be addressed.

I've said before that the BBS isn't really that representative of the fans as a whole, we're a militant bunch sometimes, but I think that apathy is the general adjective to describe the majority of Palace fans. That said, we are going to have to admit we are in real trouble now and if the opposition describes us as the poorest CPFC they've seen for years then that is real cause for concern.

I just think this guy might....might be trying to make an honest assessment.

(NB When over the last fifteen years have Palace ever been known as a footballing side!? There's only one season and that was our promotion as Champions under Smith.)

With all due respect Jay Blockhead or whatever you call yourself, the matter of fans organising demonstrations against management etc is a matter for us, and no one else. Cheers for the advice, but really I dont give a toss about what other people think. We have been in administration, and survived, we have watched as a manger we all cared about, players we were close to, get the elbow, and still we come to that dump you call a football ground and out-sing you, as we seem to do quite regularly at most other grounds. Most of us there last night, were there the year before, and will probably be there next year, can you lot say that, no I really doubt you can.
Like I said, thanks for the comments, but its down to Palace supporters what we do, and no one else!

I thought it was more around 3,000..... I thought there'd be a few thousand there. Cant
see Burnley bringing that many on a night game or a day game especially with that
ground.

As for our performance, it was always a matter of getting in amongst the pretty boys.
Fernandez was hit early by Smith, I remember and thats what we had to do . Fulham
are a premiership side in all but name. There is no doubt about it. If we had tried to pass
around you we would have been murdered. We have our footballers, number 11
Tommy Black, who left your fullback on his ass on more than one occasion. Last night
was neither the time nor the place to play 'tigana' football. You're going to find that out in
the next few weeks. When you're top dog, teams turn up to hastle, wind-up, intimidate
but I don't think Palace were guilty of the latter two. I know its going to take a bit of
getting used, for you but you'll have to acccept it.
Shame Rubens didn't get hold of the ball a bit more. I think it would have been a much closer game if he had.

19-10-2000, 02:14 PM
I thought your turnout was about 3,000, it was certainly less than last year, but still a good turnout neither the less. Our crowds are generally down in midweek, as so many of our fans live in the sticks thanks to the yuppiefication of SW6, and can't get to Fulham in time after work. Not a whinge, just a commonly acknowledge fact. As for how many we'll take to Selhurst, we can only sell whatever tickets you send us, and we sold out last season.
However, I was impressed with Palace. You worked hard and caused us a lot of problems, especially at set pieces. I can see Smith intends to play with two wingers in future, Black & the latvian guy, which should improve your supply into the box. Mullins worked hard all game covered the back, but I have to say Harrison was bloody awful. I've seen a lot worse play Fulham this season. Good luck for the rest of the season and makes sure you finish above those pathetic bitter hoops.

19-10-2000, 02:17 PM
I though last night was a cracking match. Obviously the fact we won helped add to my enjoyment but even so, your lot turned up with a plan to try to contain us, didn't simply roll over and die when we went one up and helped contribute to a thoroughly entertaining evening. Ultimately your plan didn't work, but 10 other teams (so far) have failed to come up with a reliable alternative, so there's no shame there.
As several contributors have pointed out, certain tackles did go in hard, including a few from our lot too, especially Fabrice Fernandes who seems to be learning the ancient British skill of "afters" very nicely. When Ruddock was injured did he really hit the post or was he clobbered by Maik Taylor? I only ask because I though he was aiming to hit Maik rather than the ball, Taylor punched the ball clear (he is one of the best 'keepers at catching the ball) and turned side on to Ruddock, suggesting to me that he saw the man coming and might have decided to give him a taste of his own medicine (Maik is ex army) by letting him hit his shoulder/elbow. Unfortunately I couldn't see properly from where I was.

Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season, see if you can't take a few points off the other front runners for us and see you again on March 17th.

19-10-2000, 02:39 PM
Jay Plonker - you are obviously some kind of clown/wombat/bumboy in disguise. As the previous responders have pointed out, we have NEVER been a footballing side in the purest sense of the phrase. Pollock played his normal excellent game, with not a hint of the pub about him - unfortunately the same could not be said about Razor.

As for the away support - I imagine we brought about 4,000. Less than last year, when we must have had about 6,000 (when you include those in the seated areas), but still not bad for a midweek no-hoper match in the rain.

And the Burnley thing is just plain stupid.

As are you.

Nice one, I just hope we can even the scores at Selhurst.

Thanks Albert FFC and Deckydant, i find your posts very good. Palace didn't play too well for their own standards, but you did play very well last nite. I have to say, considering the other results you have had, such as Barnsley, we did do quite well. You have one of the best midfielders in the league, as everything went through John Collins. Unlike some of the other Fulham Posters, you seem to be quite mature.

I thought we played quite well actually, our passing was good (well except for Harrison!), we gave 110% right untill final whistle.
We made Fulham look like a very normal side.
Does anyone know the possesion info? I thought it must've been 50/50 or slighty in our favour.

Neil, may I respectfully suggest that you get your eyes tested. It would be more honest to say that Fulham made us look a very average side. If we were playing like they are, SE25 would be bouncing with delight

Agreed Blind

And possession must have gone at least 65% Fulham's way.

Let me put this point forward, Fooham are mickey mouse, they will no doubt be promoted this season, they will be mickey moouse still. They may stay up, they may not, they will not win anything and eventually they WILL be relegated.

For a comparision.............Blackburn Rovers, sorry Foolham you can't but sustained success. Jack Walker was passionate about his club and couldn't keep it going, for you're chairman the club is just another possession, so enjoy this season, and no doubt we will meet again, and we will have sorted our lives out by then. As for your support,.........................well

I thought Palace had a good turnout considering how our season has gone. The terrace was pretty full and we had some seats as well. We certainley took more on a week night than Fulham managed last season on a Saturday. By the way the guy above is wrong, Fulham didn't sell out their allocation at Selhurst for that game. They took about 2,000, our standard away section holds around 4,000.

What is it with these other clubs having a go at our support (although you expect it from the clowns I suppose)? Most of those Fulham fans we saw the other night have been there all of 5 minutes and wouldn't know what its like to follow a club that isn't winning all the time. It must really irritate those who did loyally follow them through the s**t for years.
