Dear Madam,

Thank you for your interest in Crystal Palace Football Club.

Unfortunately, on this occassion, I cannot offer you an interview for the position of lavatory cleaner.

I am sorry I cannot be of more assistance to you, and once again thank you for your application.

Spanish, what was the point of that??

We are a little bit crap at the moment but it happens, I think you had a losing streak at the end of last season with a winning side if i remember rightly.

As for relegation, I think not, are problems are in one area (which is probably the most important)...Scoring goals, we create enough chances but fail to finish them.

I think to wet your pants after 10 games is a bit premature, after all if that was the case I could say that you would finish 6th, and I really dont think that is likely, do you??

Stick to your usual better standard of posting this one was not very intelligent was it.

Sorry, not an uphill gardener like you, I do not dance the chocolate cha-cha, I do not venture up Bournville Boulevard, I do not take it up the wrong-un, unlike the Tesco carrier bag wearing poofs that you are. Still, you and your boyfriend can go play hide the salami(don't ask for it sliced as your arse is not a money box),and I will sing..... EAGLES **** ON SEAGULLS, EAGLES **** ON SEAGULLS, LA LA LA LA...LA LA LA LA........OR.........

Lana Grumble - you mustn't go upsetting yourself about the nasty Seagull. You have said not once, twice but three times that you are not homosexual in the same message , and we all believe you, there's really no need to keep going on about it.

Keep it clean though - there are children on here, and try not to use it as a forum for your sicker fantasies.

Now, where were we - Palace down, Smith out, Ruddock sacked, Mullins/Morrision sold, Brighton up. Looking forward to us, you and Pompey in the same division again. NICE!

Top Eagle...if its only '10 games played', why then are some of you posting on here for Smith Out ?? You know at the moment you are truly awful. You can't hide the facts. You've hardly played many of the supposed top teams...maybe you ought to, as I suggest...

Spanish for us to say we want smith out, is ok, we go every week and know what we are talking about. When was the last time you saw Palace on TV etc?? Charlton are on now every saturday so, as I have said before, I watch you with great interest so that I can have an intelligent conversation with you Charlton lads. The reason for Smith out calls is because we are not getting results regularily and this is because we can not finish for toffee right now, but bring in a new striker to work with the lads we already have (of better standard than Kitson, I really do not know what that is all about and I think you will agree) and 3 points will not be far behind.

We have let in 12 goals so far in the league and scored only 6 times, in numerous games this season we have been the better side but have not punished the opposition.

Smith was not liked from day one because of who he replaced. He also got Steve Coppell the boot the previous time he managed us, their has been animosity from the start. Calls for his job have been going on since he took over.

I will tell you now that Palace have more than enough to stay in this league so for the ill informed to tell me otherwise is a little too much to stomach.

Spanish, worry about Charlton not Palace we do not need your "revelations" or want them.

I can honestly say that I think Charlton have a chance to stay up, not because you support them, but because I have seen bits of the games you have been involved in, from what I have seen you are up for each game, play for each other and seem to have good balance. Without any real prima dona stars to ruin the spirit which is always a good thing.

Now tell me what you think of Palaces performances and we will see if we agree. If you dont then please dont make silly statements that Palace are going down without really knowing what you are talking about.

03-10-2000, 09:51 PM
Results speak louder than words Top Eagle !

You only have to look at your friendlies. And before you tell me the purpose of a friendly, bear in mind, that aside from match fitness, and team stategies results do have some bearing.

I have seen one of your games this season and read numerous of your match reports. I have also heard what the pundits have said, the supposed men in the know, and they all say the same. I know you need a scorer. But now, press speculation, something that neither you nor I can verify, correct me if I am wrong, suggests that the players are not playing as a team and do not want to play for Smith. I make a valid point in that you have not played many of the supposed bigger sides. So if I were you, I would be worried.

In summary you are struggling. You are 3 points off the bottom. You cannot score for toffee. You players do not appear united. Need I go on ??

Sure enough, you have another 36 games to go ...... time will tell...

Ps Thank you for your comments on Charlton. Unlike other bbs posters who ridiculed the signings of Jensen and JJ, who funnily enough are nowhere to be seen you put up a good argument. Fair play to you.

Top Eagle
03-10-2000, 10:09 PM
Spanish, believe what I am saying to you (you obviously believe everyone else) we will not go down.

You have read some reports?? To make an educated statement you would need to have read them all. Pundits talk of doom and gloom, are Sheffield Wed/Huddersfield and alike favourites to go down?? No of course they are not, you have picked from your memery what you want to remember, something that will slate Palace.

As for all this talk about no harmony in the dressing room etc. A lot of the registered BBS Palace fans are talking about it, but I dont know whether it is true, how the hell can you know if even the Palace fans dont.

Without being funny I really think that after 10 games we really dont know how far we have come. Although we have not been beaten by more than 2 goals this season so I would hardely say we are put of our depth.

Just remember where you were the last time you were in the prem after a few games, then look at where you ended up, fear is not something a Palace fan has much of because of the time we have had in recent years. So scaremongering only annoys does not frighten.

Spanish as you well know you have the harder job this season to stay in the prem worry about that and if I were you

BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!!!!!

Because if you do come down you will get the p!ss ripped out of you for larging it so much.

Just a thought

Spanish, Buenos Dias Signor, comas das.

For someone who started off this thread by slating the honourable, good and regal name of Crystal Palace Football club, you soon got on your high horse when Top Eagle gave you some of what you don't like. IN YOUR FACE I believe the expression is.

As for the girls from Bumtown, Kelly Morton and Albion Dannielle, I appologise. I did not suss on that you two are a couple. Kelvin posts at 14.05 then rings Dannielle at work/school/aids clinic and sobs "The nasty man won't go away. ITS NOT FAIR." So, Dannielle, being the butch type, has a pop back and has the cheek to say that he fancies me. Is this to get Kelly jealous? Or is it because you are sitting there with a stiffy thinking of me.
To say our team is "really quite dreadfull", is wrong. We are playing great football at the moment, but cannot score for toffies. We are creating so many chances but are wasting them. We have got a squad that alot of Prem and first division clubs would love to get their hands on. Time will tell, we will go up the table or our manager will get sacked. We are not in debt, unlike Brighton and Charlton. We have money to spend. We are proud of our club. Need I say more.
I do not know who I am posting to in you two girls in Bumtown. You could be a couple of kids, you could be my age who remembers alot of scraps with us. I go to all the home games and to 95% of the away games, which is why you never see me post when there is a game on? How about you. Reveal yourself girls. Go to the games? Where do you live, one of the Deans, Havens,Hove, cardboard box.

Buenas tardes Barney...after midday we use the term tardes instead of dias, just so's you know. Well it's nice to know you go to so many games. You do make me laugh however..please enlighten me as to your squad members who are the envy of many a PL club ??

Top Eagle, I do not think I am 'larging it' as you so eloquently put, merely pointing out after your everso frequent posts (not you in general) about us losing to Everton with ten men, and our epic against the Gooners and the sorry affair against Stoke. Yes I know it will agitate you, after all, with the exception of the New Top Eagle, who has chosen not to come up with gypsy / caravan / clowntown references, the only posts sent back in retaliation from you and your other mob is by trying to namecall or whatever. So it's rather a case of what comes around....

Currently though, going back to the nature of this thread...the grass is very much greener here !

Just my thoughts, which whether or not you care for I couldn't really give a Palace performance !

Sapnish, personally I don't care about Charlton, they're not our rivals, I don't care whether they go down or not. But I would say it hasn't taken very long for Curbishley to spout rubbish as so many Premiership managers do, Richard Rufus should be in the England squad ??? are you sure?

Fat Andy, Rufus might not be the first name that springs to mind, however he does a job more often than not, ask Shearer. Whether or not he's an international maybe, probably not. See, I'm not so prejudiced.

Lastly, have to go back to Barney, still waiting for your little jewels currently on PL managers wanted list, or are you the one que no concoerias un futbulista si tuvieses la oportunidad de verle. Please don't waste your time correcting me....just answer the question, if you can ?

Your players and your poxy ground that come on be honest is really non-league, your so far from the pitch you cannot see anyone.
Now that's the nice bit over with it has to be said that your own web site is a complete crock of ****. I am trying to think of a Brighton player to slate but do not know any(that should tell me something eh!!).

You really are having a laugh, aren't you ???
Palace have a great catchment area, but North-West Kent is right on the fringes of it. In the area, you are probably behind Charlton, Arsenal, ManU, Spurs, Chelsea, Millwall, Liverpool, W.Ham.

I know of one Palace fan in the area. He himself admits that Palace have very little support round here. And for some strange reason, he hates Charlton with a passion probably more than i Palace. He cares little towards Brighton as he says he has no contact with them or their fans.

Is that coming more of a trend ? North Kent eagles see Charlton as their rivals, whereas the traditional Croydon and Surrey support feel little to Charlton and still see Brighton is the enemy ??

I'll give your team some respect, they have made a good signing in Jonathan Johansson, however, to say the same about Jensen, i'm not too sure. The papers are either not giving him any publicity, or he's utter sh!te.

Palace won't go down, even you know that, it's just in your little pea sized brain, that you think that will happen.

We don't hate you, I alctually hoped that you would stay up two seasons ago, but, having seen your utter disrespect towards palace, a team who gave you a home on hard times, goes to show what utter Carsten Jankers you are. I actually think Jensen is a very good player, 3 million is a lot of money but if Charlton stay up it's money well spent.

At least Charlton have been prepared to spend and give themselves a chance to stay up unlike Watford who admitted defeat before they had kicked a ball. Just hope for your sake you don't 'do a Palace' and pay the consequences if (and I don't care) you go down.

I also think that Charlton bought the right Finn as we certainly didn't.

Spanish (yes I am picking you out again!!!)

Compliment?? All I said was you were premier league, hardly a compliment, just stating a fact.

Not sure which Anti post you are talking about, do a quote thing (I havent a clue how to do them) so I can be sure of what you mean.

This is to the 3 of you about a comment that was made earlier of "results are what count" however thinking back to the last time Charlton played in the Premier I seem to remember your manager (who I do respect so I am not slagging him off) saying that you were playing well but do not seem to be getting the results, this was to your cost I know. But if that had been Div 1 the teams do not punish you as badly as the Premier.

I want to ask you, and I am hoping for a serious answer, do you think Palace will really go down or are you just on a wind up??

Look at the table we are not in the bottom 3 and look at the teams we have in the division do you think there is enough good teams there to put a club supported as much as Palace with money to spend out of the division??

There was another mention of the teams we have played were not quality here is the list so far:

Blackburn 2 v 0 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace 1 v 1 QPR
Huddersfield 1 v 2 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace 2 v 3 Nottm Forest
West Brom 1 v 0 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace 0 v 1 Burnley
Crystal Palace 1 v 0 Barnsley
Norwich 0 v 0 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace 0 v 1 Sheff Utd
Preston 2 v 0 Crystal Palace

We have got results in 4 games and have not been beaten by more that 2 goals so far. All this considering a new owner, new manager and new players.

We are 19th and with 2 wins at such an early stage of the season we could move into the top ten.

As I have said with the evidence there, Palace fans saying our problem is not scoring and the fact that we are looking for a new striker right now. Do you really think we will go down??

Answers on a postcard please!!!!!!

Top Eagle,

For my twopenneth worth, as I have said on another thread, I think you will be in a precarious position after your next two games, Birmingham & Fulham (both away).
Once in that position and the scenario with the players by all accounts not being 100% behind the manager, you could have an uphill struggle on your hands. There are more obvious contenders for the drop, but I think you have to be realistic and accept that this season there is a potential for Palace to struggle, which COULD end up with a relegation. My guess is that you will stay in the First division for next season, but that this will not be achieved without being down amongst it for the majority of the season. It could even be a close call at the end of the day if morale gets any worse. This is not a wind up, but a considered opinion.

Depends if your players continue to have a little wrestle at 2.55 on Saturdays !!!

Can't see Palace going down myself. Would be majorly underachieving if you did and i'm sure would have serious financial repercussions.

Barney, you've been reasonably dull on this thread so I'll make a deal with you. You stop saying we're all gay, and I'll stop saying you are certain relegation candid...No, it's too big a sacrifice, I can't do it.

GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN....

04-10-2000, 07:36 PM
Top Eagle.

Straight up ? Will Palace get relegated ?

Every team, with the exception of probably 2, should aim for safety first. IE...gain sufficient points so as not to get relegated. Take last season WBA ended up 4th from bottom with 49pts. With over a quarter of the season gone Palace have amassed 8pts. At this rate, then yes you would probably get relegated. There is no such thing as a home banker these days, and as Nº1ISL has pointed out you now have to go to Fulham and Birmingham, without including grudge matches against the like of the Dons. If say you lost against Brum and Fulham do you not think that would affect the confidence of the players ? Add to that the suporters get agitated and take it out first on Smith, then start on Mullins and co... All I am saying is that at the moment you are cr@p. If it continues for too much longer it may be the straw that brakes the camels back. Look at Man City, Sheff Wed, Atletico Madrid. Time is on your side, but only if you start to redress the balance.

Same with Charlton, only we have not lost at home and have picked up some bonuses in the victories against Newcastle and Spurs. Right now, I'll settle with 4th from bottom, thank you very much.

That's pretty much it ! Fair enough ??

04-10-2000, 07:42 PM

Boring Boring Barney!

Im 26, lived in London (Putney) for the last 6 months, b4 that Sussex.

Season ticket holder for the last 2 years, go to about half our away games, work for one of your previous sponsors, database marketing manager. Dont have my own pc because I have a laptop and I have much better things to do in the evening than surf the net, like a social life. Have you got one? Posting here during the day beats working!

Been to Selhurst about 20 times as I used to get free tickets in the directors box, with free 3 course meal and booze, then watched the game with albion supporting friends cheering your opposition, sitting 10 yards from Noades - it was hillarious!

seen Brighton there once for the famous Kelvin Morten game. Seen Palarse at the goldstone 4 times.

Now you have it, dont really understand why you wanted that info, but if it wipes the smirk off your face then its worth it.

Now you can return to your incredibly dull tirade of abuse aimed at gays, smirkless!

I suppose I'd better reply to that as well. For what its worth 30's, Clapham, season ticket, yes remember not only 80's but late 70's too when it really started, no its not my first day on a computer etc etc. Attended last league match Easter 1989, can't wait for the next one. Bizarrely I also have been a guest in one of those corporate boxes at the Sainsburys end against Wednesday last game of the season couple of years back. I think you got relegated (happy to be corrected, I was bored out of my mind) which was the only bright spot. Di Canio nearly got sent off but was miles better than any of your clowns.

It's always the same. I must admit I haven't been on this site for a while but the lame attempts at provokation from charlton fans seem to be continuing. All I can ask the person who started this thread is, if we're so insignificant why are you on this site at all? By all means go and discuss your (relatively) promising start to the season somewhere else, and let us feel depressed in peace.

Coke Addick raises an interesting point however about where Palace fans live effecting their feelings towards Charlton. As a Croydon based Eagles fan I have little contact with Charlton, except wwhen we play them. Most people I work with support either Palace or that club that play in blue from west London. Charlton have very few fans round here. However I suppose those Eagles who live towards the Bromley, Kent, Medway areas would come into contact with their fans more. It can't be much fun having your nose rubbed in it all the time. I've certainley met Palace fans from those parts who don't like charlton, but do they hate them more than BHA? Or is it a case of simply being provoked beyond beleif by gloating addicks and the eternal crapness (yes worse than we are) of our true rivals? They'll have to answer this. Personally it's clear to me that some Charlton fans have a huge hatred for all things Palace (why I'm not quite sure). I have to say I don't have much time for people that slag off my team with such venom, sometimes resorting to violence and singing songs which go beyond 'banter'. The behaviour of some Charlton fans at our last fixture was dissapointing to see and the fact that many REALLY wanted us to go bust was disturbing. Personally I was angered by the behaviour of these people at the time and still feel a fair bit of dislike for Charlton. However Charlton will never our rivals. No doubt one day the tables will turn and we'll be the better of the 2. I don't think many of our fans will be too worried abot charlton then.

LP, reasoned points. Yes, Palace fans do take a fair bit of stick round here, but its only really been in the last 3 or 4 years. I started properly following Charlton in the wilderness years, and ever since then Charlton have but the butt of jokes by Palace fans round here and Millwall fans. And the trouble was we had to sit and take it because there is nothing we could throw back at them. Now, as the song goes 'its all gone quiet over there' but its payback time for us. Historically it was always the case, but there has been a big gap in Charlton being the dominent South London club and for most of us, this is the first time we have experienced it and we're going to milk it for all its worth.

Childish, i know, but we're all kids at heart !!!

Thats better, now I have an idea who I have been slating. I am 33 and married to a football widow. I have had a season ticket holder since 1977. Back then I could only go to a couple of away games a season when my dad or his friend could take me. Now I am a big boy, I go to most of them. My mate I travel with and I worked out how many miles we travel in a season, thank god he gets free diesel with his car. The reason why I ask is that is no good me telling you what a w@nker Alan Mullery is or that I once tripped up Steve Gatting in the car park, and called Steve Foster a F***pig in the players lounge, or laughing at Jimmy Melia after you got stuffed by Manure if the last time you went to a game there was a bloke selling peanuts burning on a stove. I also went to the friendly in 1995 when we had a couple of players making their debuts, maybe you could remind me of the score....
By the way, I would not set foot in any other football ground unless England or Palace are playing, especially the Goldfish groung or the running track.
Be great to play the Scum again, shame it won't be in the league as we are miles apart and it will stay the same for ever. Dan, get back to work there's a good boy.

Re Bromley, let's face facts - up til 3 years ago there were one or two Charlton fans about and that was it. Even over Abbey Wood way there were bugger all of you about. And in a couple of years time it will go back to that - you'll all slope back to your armchairs to watch the Arse and West Ham. So what's the point about getting excited about part time fair weather fans....

06-10-2000, 02:53 PM
Stumpy, I will NEVER follow those 2 piss poor examples of football clubs!!!

I come here every day because I find it amusing and enjoy the banter, after all that is one of the things that footys all about isnt it???

Barney, in 95 you won 1-0 at the goldstone, I was there, was also quite impressed with the amount of fans you had. I didnt go to the game at Gillingham which was a 1-1 draw if I remember correctly because the shock of moving to scummy kent to watch football was still in its infancy. I still made it to about 2/3 of our games there though despite the 150 mile round trip. Now they where dark dark days which is one of the reasons that most of the rubbish insults we get now are like water off a ducks back as most Albion fans are very happy with the state of play and the prospects for the future.

Anyone want to fill in a letter to Brighton council supporting the planning application for our new ground? We're nearly there!

LP, forgive my somewhat lengthy delay in replying to you. Tell me, you're obviously a long standing Palace fan, exactly where do you put your rose tinted specs at night ? If, as you say you have followed Palace for a while, why then do you conveniently forget the abuse handed out by Palace to us ? It's not as though you have to have a good memory, you'll probably find some on this very thread ! Since my first Charlton game, one that should stick out in most of Palaces mind, a bank holiday in the 80's when we turned out in your away kit, there has been animosity between the two sets of fans. Add to that the cheek of our then chairmen to ground share with you and your enivitable taunts, it's no wonder why many feel good these days being a Charlton supporter. Please, the next time you feel the urge to contribute to one of these posts, be original and say I suppose what comes around goes around, you'll probably find a different attitude from most of us. Enough said....by the way, I still wouldnt be suprised to see you go down, when and if that happens, I would love Brighton to turn you over !

Oh yeah we are really jealous, you mean so much to us, no honest you really do.
A fluke start to a season due to Johansen who without you would have barely any points this season.
What do you mean he who laughs last geek? Even when you were down on your knees at Selhurst we could barely raise a chuckle at your state. We cared not for you even then. You have delusions of grandeur.

Inisgnificant? We clearly are not if you are coming on here to make a point.

Eagleman, don't be a tool...all you Palace fans hark on about the same things. Remember one thing, we are the best team in South London, you know it, even though you don't admit to it in public. YOU ARE JEALOUS of our achievements.

As for flukes....oh don't make me laugh anymore, JJ came to us because we are an upward moving club. He is absolute quality and if we ever played you he would have a field day against your journeymen oap centre halves. Don't embarass yourself anymore with your ridiculous posts, your letting your own side down.

Right.... SE why would we be jealous of you scummy Charlton fans. Us palace supporters are probably on of the most forward thinking/intelligent fan bases around. We managed to raise several million through the supporters trust when our club was going to the wall.

We have got Grimsby at home tomorrow night, and I have been informed that Alan Smith has got a 3 points or sack ultimatum.

Saw the highlights of Charltons game on MOTD, rode your luck but got the result, Palace need a bit of that mental toughness at the moment.

Probably not that bullish today, but only to be expected!!!! Will haul my butt down tomorrow night and support the boys as usual, the weekend was really annoying though.

I read his comments in today's Sun - it sounds like he is using Palace as a shop window for other clubs to view his form. He thinks his wages are too big for clubs to come in for him full time. Do you think SJ will try to bring him permanently and also how much is he (SJ), prepared to risk (lose) before he feels that his fingers are being burnt too much ?????

Top Eagle, No1 has no need to slate your performance, your going is punishment enough. But please do not think that these 'old boys wil be your saviour... One or maybe two are ok, but to try and emulate a veterans outfit is taking a tad too far.See you've just signed Dougie back, well at least he'll bring the average age of player down !

Remember my post of about 3 weeks ago ? For someone who hadn't seen or read all of your games /reports, it's amazing how my predictions aren't letting me down. No.2, there is not really much I can say today, I am very disappointed with Saturdays results, and I wont deny it.

I will tell you though that our problems seem to be a lack of tactical knowledge from our manager. I am not really an expert so I will not bore you with my thoughts. All I will say is the first half on saturday was superb, Palace played at a different level to what they had done so far (and I am not just talking about the goals). Then quite what happened at half time I really dont know, we collapsed smith was making substitutions that were totally ineffective and we got beaten.

I think we will stay up still because we do have some really good players now, however I think certain personnel changes are innevitable.

Take the p!ss, I know you want to!!!!!

No - I'll hold back on this occasion. I do look forward however, to the day that you will recognise me sitting in my ivory tower and as a mark of respect you will address me by my rightful title of No.1 in South London.

It is odd that when things are bad, even if you seem to play well, the results seem to always go against you. We on the other hand, were proably not deserving of all three points on Saturday, but we dug deep and are picking up points that we would have failed to gain last time around.

Another BIG game for you on Tuesday as it's Bolton Away after that. I guess that you don't need me to point out that you'll be playing catch up if you don't win soon.
