This was also in The Mirror. Staunton has to be a good buy, replace Harrison with somebody that can play. Not quite convinced about Dougie though, not exactly doing it for Forest is he.

Welcome back, Dougie!!
From the Liverpool FC website:
Steve Staunton:
Date of birth: 19/1/69
Squad number: 5
Height: 6'1" (1.87m)
Weight: 13st (83kg)
1st team games: 146
1st team goals: 6
International caps: 84 (Rep. Ireland)
International goals: 7
Characteristics: Excellent crosser of the ball. Solid at the back - a real anchor man.
Former clubs: Dundalk, Liverpool, Aston Villa
Birth Place: Drogheda
In his second spell at the club, Staunton provides quality cover for the defensive positions although he faces a tough battle to make the left back slot his own this term. It was football's worst kept secret that Staunton would be returning to Anfield ahead of the big kick-off for the 1998-99 season - indeed the Republic of Ireland international never hid the fact that he never wanted to leave Liverpool in the first place.
He was first signed for the Reds in 1986 by Kenny Dalglish from Irish side Dundalk, and made his first appearance in the 1-1 Anfield draw with Tottenham in 1988. He made his international debut the following month and became first choice left back for the remainder of the season, playing in the 3-2 1989 FA Cup victory over Everton at Wembley.Staunton was also in the title winning side of 1990 before being sold in the summer of 1991 by Graeme Souness to Aston Villa for more than £1 million. He picked up a League Cup winners medal with Villa before rejoining Liverpool on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling.

Agree with JJ, but in case it's true, (a) could we afford Staunton's wages and (b) is Dougie the type we need - he can score goals but often goes missing when the going gets tough?

Staunton would be on huge wages as he got a free to Liverpool. I hope Jordan's finances can take the strain.
