The Manciene rumour has been around for a couple of days there was also a twitter rumour tonight. Bentley does not seem to fit the profile Parish was talking about this evening.

I dunno really, Bentley was a fairly decent player a few years ago and as far as i know is still the right side of 30, so maybe a fit and hungry Bentley with a point to prove might be a surprisingly decent creative option. Mancienne is still fairly young and again could be the sort of player we are looking for. Bit of early Premiership experience with added soreness may make a good fit. Until they're out there in the shirt you won't see me writing them off before a ball is kicked.........but then again it is football rumours so never mind.

Bentley on the other hand....Agreed. People remember MM for his dodgy spell at Wolves, but it's encouraging to hear his game has matured in Germany and he's done ok in a strong league in the Bundesliga. Could be worth a look. Forgetaboutit when it comes to Bentley.

Not opened link yet , but footballers are not like supporters , its just a job for them and generally they will go where pay is greater . Character and attitude are important but most would leave if better offer came their way .

Interesting Matt Jarvis formerly of Wolves was speaking about him recently described him as a fantastic player. Mick Macarthy took him there three times over three seasons he did suffer and injury so in two seasons played nearly 60 times in a Wolves side that won the Championship and avoided relegation when he was there.

Agree that the website looks awful.

As for the players as said elsewhere I think Bentley is worth the risks that come with him, ON LOAN. There is no doubling his class when up for it and he has something to prove.

Mancienne has looked average when I have seen him BUT the German league is very strong. So much so I'd be surprised if we got him.

I think he looked quite poor over here in Germany - that's why Hamburg want to get of him even though their defence is far from sorted.

Mancienne would be a decent signing. Can play across the back four and in midfield. Wages would be an issue. Reckon he's on about 35,000 p/w.

Not that any of this matters. Most likely nonsense.

He was pretty young for a defender back then, he's mid-20's now and has played a season in bundesliga, hopefully some good experience.

ChickenDipper

I'd take both. Bentley is a different type of winger that has great crossing abilities. Sort his head out and beat out the crap from him, that holloway could do, and we could get a decent midfielder for a relatively small fee.

Mancienne was a young boy when at wolves, but 3-4 years in german football should have taugh him a few things and as he can cover many poisitions, a versatile sqwuad player would be very good for the bench.

Mancienne can play RB/CB/LB or holding midfield. Wouldn't be bad at the right price. Better than we have, and about the best we are likely to get.

Not sure about Bentley, could be decent if he gets himself right, but is he willing to work hard and push himself and focus or have the last few years of wasted time taken their toll?!

Even if we for a moment ignore the provenance of the rumour, I can't see Bentley fitting SP's definition of a player to die for the cause. Mancienne could be different, young player seeking to restablish a career in England, very highly rated a few years back. Lost in the Chelsea pogrom etc etc.
