Any idea yet whether there will be another beer festival this year?

If so, any idea on likely dates, and when any announcements are expected?

Been a cracking day in previous years, so hope there are plans to hold it again!

I think the announcement will go out soon but I can tell you now that it will be on Cup Final day. Sat 17th May.

Over 100 beers, ciders, entertainment. Etc etc and watch the match on the screens.

I see that the admission fee has gone up from 5.00 to 8.00 in advance.
Hopefully the price of a pint will not increase from 4.00 a pint last year?

Does this event tend to sell out? Will I be able to get a ticket close to the time?

Also - I'd really like to try the two Palace wines that were on offer. Any chance of them by the glass?

It's limited to 2000 people and sold out last year. I expect it to be a sell out again this year.

Yes, we can have the wines there too. Remind me nearer the time!

Also....We're hoping for a BBS six a side competition on the pitch but waiting to hear when it has to be ripped up. We're required to install under soil heating if we stay in the PL and that's a big and expensive job.

Will the Football Aid game go ahead this year Steve? It was scheduled to go ahead last year but cancelled last minute when Olly wanted the players to train on a 'proper pitch' prior to Wembley, as opposed to the training ground?

Interesting it's placed before our season finale.

Did the positive effect following last season's one at Fairfield Halls (on the play-off performances) influence you to make it before what may be a crucial league fixture this season?

I don't know. I think that will depend on the under-pitch heating and how long that work is projected to take. We may have to start on it immediately after the Liverpool game.

I think that the management players wanted it before the Fulham game. At least 2 of our players will have to depart immediately for pre-World Cup training camps.

It worked well last time, yes.

Given that we might not know our status after the Liverpool game. Actually who am I kidding, we all know it's coming down to the last day, it's Palace.

Anyway, is the plan to go ahead with the under soil heating even if the worst happens?

That would be a real shame not only for the players but also the charities set to benefit from all the fans laying serious money to play on the hallowed turf!

When would the answer to this be known by? Can you speak to the groundsman for confirmation? No doubt it's all scheduled with only 3months until the end of the season! Cheers in advance.

With the date provisionally being set for the Selhurst 6 aside game of 10th May, does this mean the Football Aid game has also been given the go ahead as a provisional? Any news on when the pitch will need to be ripped up?

Apologies. I missed your reply. I believe the Football Aid contact is awaiting a response from the relevant CPFC contact regarding dates but I'm aware there are only 6 weeks left of the season and still nothing sorted! The football aid game stands to raise 10k plus for charity from fees people like myself have paid to play on the hallowed turf!

Here's hoping a date is still available! 2 cancelled years would be gutting!

Sam - if we stay up we have to install under soil heating. It's a massive job and would probably have to start immediately and mean no use of the pitch and no pre-season friendlies.

Stinky might now but I think it's 2 per half pint voucher for any strength beer.

Slightly more than a pint of standard mass-produced stuff in the pub but we are talking quality stuff here.

I've just checked the sales. This time last year we had sold 500 tickets and for 2014 we have already sold 900.

I think that we will have a sell-out this year and it would certainly help the club enormously on ordering the right amount of beer if everyone who was planning on coming bought their tickets as soon as possible.

It's a waste of time. He just doesn't get Real Ale. I've tried to enlighten him but it's pointless. He likes Coca Cola... and the odd glass of wine but he's not much of a boozer.

I remember Steve Parish's reaction when he tried a beer when you dragged him to an OASTBRATS drink up at Craft in Farringdon, something along the lines of: "That tastes bloody awful, it could only be enjoyed by the kind of pervert that enjoys being tied up with an orange in their mouth".

Yes, and that was a particulary fine hoppy beer too. I think that was one of the last time that I dragged him into a pub. I've given up now. He even dropped me off at The Ship and Mitre in Liverpool but wouldn't come in ;-)

Not sure if possible but you should look into getting some Canadian beers in if you can?

British Columbia's had an explosion of great micro (and even nano) breweries opening up in recent years, which are now being recognised across the continent as rivalling the other west coast powerhouses in California/Oregon.

Not heard of any making big strides in the UK yet though so would be great if CPFC could break new ground!

Maybe Simon and Mark can get some in for the beer festival? On a regular basis we prefer to support local South London breweries.

It was a beer festival not a football match. I think that to wear another club's shirt at SP was rather insensitive but I suppose we did advertise that we would be showing their match on the screens. Maybe we'll have a Palace shirts only policy next season.

I don't get what the fuss was about.

They where outside in the UH watching the match and it was excellent when Hull scored both goals. There was cheering and when Arsenal scored there was booing.

Why can't we all get along without sounding petty? It's not like they where Brighton or Millwall fans.

IMO - It sounds like one rule for one policy, and one for another. For example, bring a Liverpool Fan in the Home End & you get a Ban, but let whatever Club at the Beer Fest and it's acceptable

At the end of the day, It's Our Beloved Club, but you are The Owners that enforce the rules... just wish you guys were like what We ask the Refs to do, BE CONSISTENT! Thank's for the response anyway.

Big difference between a football match and a beer festival surely? The football club is aiming to become a central part of the community, something it hasn't been for a long time, and events like this help. How does it hurt people if a couple of lads in Arsenal shirts attend? They could be potential Palace fans

MasterYoda

I can't see the issue with football fans attending the festival wearing the kit of their team that's about to play in a cup final televised at the event.

Maybe if it was Millwall or Brighton but come on......

Steve, thank you for organising such a great event.
Got to have a nice chat with Jules too - trying to persuade him to apply for a British passport...

Re: the football shirts... I think it was all in good spirits to be honest. I watched the second half/extra time in the Red and Blue bar, and there were one or two v. passionate Arsenal fans. Seemed bizarre at Selhurst but they were very much the minority, plus the majority of people just want a good time.

Don't think it'd be as relaxed if they were Millwall/Charlton etc... I found it more bizarre that there was a grown man in a Steven Gerrard shirt, half expected him to pull it over his head and cry!

Cheers again.

A CPFC Event is a CPFC Event, whether it's a Match, POTY, Comedy Night, Beer Fest etc.

If there's no issue in having another London Club in the Home Ends at a CPFC End of Season Event, then what's the issue in having them during the season when WE face each other?

These might be eventual PA1ACE Fans, but do WE really want this because they cannot get into they're own games. Have WE turned into a stopgap?

What IF this was the 2004 FA Cup Final? Would it, of been ok for the two finalists to attend Beer Fest in their club colours, because we did advertise that we would be showing their match on the screens. :hmph:

Why do I keep seeing people refer to Palace as "PA1ACE".

Jog on mate. This is the sole reason why we have a bleeding home/away segregation. Do you hate everyone how isn't a Palace fan? I brought a Chelsea fan with me, I also brought my girlfriend along who doesn't even like football, should she be allowed to have a good time at a beer festival?

You can also add the, you're not allowed to have beer in view of pitch, to your arguments if you want SB to be consistent.
