I know there will still be two games to go but could the club do this after the Man City game? We really need the chance to thank everybody and with the Liverpool game now being an evening kick off many of our young supporters will either miss the game or have to be taken home to bed as soon as it ends - school tomorrow!

Man City would be earlier - and it is the first game after staying up became certain!

Whenever it's done we want to see you guys out there as well - you deserve it!

We'll ask Tony what he thinks and let you know. Normally it would be after the last home game but I agree that 10pm on a Monday night is not a good time for it.

Especially when it seems some away fans may want to take to the pitch.

With safety now assured, maybe after the Man City game would therefore be the best time for this?

I really think we should do this when we want to - not when the scousers do.
They have another home game after this one and they can do whatever they like then.

Plus ours is a much, much bigger achievement:lux::lux::lux::lux::lux:

This has been debated at the club and the winning argument is that we should not be seen to be celebrating the end of the season before our last home game. Therefore the plan is to have a lap of honour after the Liverpool game. I agree it's a shame that young kids may miss out but the season is not over just because we are safe from relegation.

Quite right to.

(and because the Man city game was changed from a sat to a sun I cant now make it :( but as the Liverpool game was moved to the Monday I can now make that :lux:)

There is no way that I'll be letting Liverpool do a pitch invasion at our place if they win the league and I hope the police don't allow this either!

Could the first two rows not be netted to stop a pitch invasion ?. I believe that has been done before.

Has any thought been given to the suggestion of some sort of celebration in Croydon, especially given we couldn't have one last year? I know there is the awards dinner but it would be good to have something public and to strengthen our links with the town. It's great the town has a premier league club and any way of celebrating that would surely benefit both.

I will walk out if the scousers get the trophy & the Title at our place, thats all the medie will be wanking about and will overshadow our achievement and our big day (hoping the scousers have already won it when they come to us) or mass anti-climax

Didn't want them on the pitch but can't understand the strong emotions. Haven't Palace fans invaded the pitch at Stockport when relegation was avoided at the last minute?

Here's a thread on palace pitch invasions and there are a number of away games mentioned:
http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=120911

I could understand the strong reaction if we were being relegated (and even then, didn't palace fans did the same while Wednesday were relegated?)

I hope police stops pitch invasion from any sets of fans but I really hope that if Liverpool fans try to invade the pitch no Palace fan feel obliged to take the matter in their own hands and go to the pitch to confront them.

The lap of honour should take place after the final home game of the season.

Maybe a quick wave, but we're too shy to walk round the pitch.

Can we have a proper lap of honour please and not a repeat of when the players went partially round with the play off trophy ?

The players will leave the pitch after the end of the game and then return shortly afterwards for a lap of appreciation.

Even if Liverpool win the league on the night there are no plans we've heard of for them to have any presentation at Selhurst.

I thought the trophy was taken to the ground where it can be won?
Lets hope the scousers have it wrapped up before we play them :D

OK...I can understand that.

How about this - players (ie all the squad) do the lap. But at the same time TP, Millen (let's not forget his huge role this season) and you guys pop out to the centre circle for a quick wave and applause.

And maybe a few quick interviews on the traditional dodgy microphone?

They'll receive it at home after they play Newcastle, surely?

I think the four of you should moonwalk round the pitch and finish it off with some robotics and a bit of body popping just like the Glaizers do at Old Trafford

Steve, after the amazing season we have just had i think the fans would be really disappointed if there was no lap of honour so we can show our true thanks to the players for what they have done this season and im sure the players want to say thanks too.

It was a real lump in the throat moment when we had the team gather in front of the fans after West Ham and certainly deserves something similiar at Selhurst on Monday.

We have agreed with Tony that the players will come off the pitch and come back on for a lap if neither set of fans have come onto the pitch. The Police and Stadium manager will have the final say on the night should any fans try to get on the pitch.

I hope that as many fans as possible will be able to remain behind and give the lads the ovation they deserve after their great efforts this season.

Good news. Lets hope no drunken fools (either Palace or Liverpool) end up encroaching onto the pitch and spoil it for everyone.

I will stay up to watch it, so proud to be a Palace fan this year. And so proud that eventhough we're a (midtable!!) Premier League team, you can still come on here and leave a message to the owners. We're all fans here and we can't wait for next year. Eagles!

I'm glad to read that, for obvious reasons I had to leave early, if I could re-locate Norwich about 100 miles South it would make my commute to and from Selhurst a lot easier! I'm glad to hear that a lot of fans stayed behind though, I was walking down the Holmesdale Road and Pawsons Road still able to hear the chants going on. Fantastic feeling and a fantastic end to a fantastic season. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
