I know a lot of people would like to see the Long Good Friday theme back before games, I can understand why you as owners might not want that as you want to move on. However could we not have it back for Monday for one day only when the teams come out in respect to one of the country's finest actors after his death today? Thanks

Mike will play it on Monday. RIP Bob.

And can we then re-introduce it next season. Always found it very inspirational.

Used to love it, as a prelude to Glad All Over.

For those that like to know these things, I recall its actual title is "Taken"

Always really enjoyed it. 'We come one' by Faithless & The Long Good Friday should always be the two songs in the build up to Glad All Over when the teams come out.

Yes got to have Faithless, especially as Maxi is actually in the crowd.

I agree with jcreedy. I quite like it as a prelude to Glad all over.

Always hated the long good friday theme. To me it's an extremely cack 80's electro tune that feels so out of place and extremely outdated.

Anyone remember Americano's by Holly Johnson? I seem to remember that being used for quite a while. Some thing's are best left in the past......

Yep, it was played at every game for a few years when John Henty was the announcer/DJ

Rob Fox I think. And it was quite an annoying song. John Henty introduced Glad All Over to Palace in the sixties.

Really? I though Rob came along later than that.

Have it for this one game, but let's face it we've done much better since we stopped playing it. Although I do like it!

Do that. I'm pretty confident that John had retired by then. Thanks.

Americanos was 100% Henty's, played 10 mins before the start...I used to supply him with a dozen hand picked 7" singles when I worked for Dave & Moira Rossi & it was John who not only introduced GAO in the 60's, but gave me my moniker too!

LGF would be fitting during the display tonight (as a one off) to remember Bob and the Jordan decade and be very thankful of how far we've come in these four short years.

My late father gave a young Robert Hoskins his first ever (favourable) theatre review in '67. The story is well known that he turned up with 'a mate' and was roped in against his will.

"Taken" is as close as you'll get to explaining the SJ psyche of who he wanted us to be perceived and I'm surprised he never managed to get him down as guest (via Ray Winstone maybe). Let's revel in that nostalgia tonight then set our sites on another impossible Scousebusting experience.

We Come One (der, der, der, We're Staying Up") is a much more fitting pre-GAO for the two-ten era.....any chance of Maxi hitting the decks for a guest spot in the p.a. room next season Steve? ;)

Thanks for the info Don. As ever I bow to your encylopaedic knowledge of all things Palace.

Maxi will be at the game tonight cheering on the Team in his usual loud way. He is doing a Faithless gig for Palace in Brixton in June. I'm not sure about him doing a slot on the pa system but he was guest dj at the last players and staff Christmas party.

Confirming (obviously, because he IS the Don......) what Don said about John Henty.'
I spoke to John tonight. He 'served' from 1962 to 1970 then from the end of the 70s to the end of the 80s, including all 3 '8-9' promotion seasons. He was responsible for both GAO and Americanos. And he remains amazed at what he started with GAO.

Thanks . He must be so proud that GAO remains THE Palace song after nearly 50 years.

It was good to hear TLGF before Faithless last night.
