Hi Steve,

I heard a rumour that the current floodlights are not up to scratch and need upgrading? Is this true and if so is it just a case of new bulbs or will the whole light system need to be changed?

Yes it's a major upgrade that will cost us hundreds of thousands. It's needed to bring the lighting up to the latest standards required for high definition tv.

I remember back in the 70's that Palace had the best floodlights in England.

It's only fans and manager that we have the best of these days.

Oh, Steve... We also have the best Aussie (would he be captain otherwise?) and the best restaurant owner in Purley. Not to mention the best team spirit of any club in the Prem.

We also have the best scrabble score player in England. I think only Zlatan would score more points than KG if we were playing 'footballers names' and he's not playing over here!

We have the best owners in the PL!

Well now that Cardiff have gone down anyway ;)

The Mars tv advert filmed at a night match in the 70's from the Holmesdale. With the floodlights!

I remember attending the match that launched Palace's upgraded floodlights in April 1962. Palace went 4-1 down and got it back to 4-3. I remember an old biddy outside asking the result and someone said Palace lost. She said, I knew they would, and we said it wasn't like that.

Can we get Real Madrid back to launch the new ones? Wouldn't that be a nice bit of nostalgia.

Unfortunately not. The pitch wont be ready and they charge a million.

How did Bournemouth afford that this season?

I've shot at quite a few grounds and Selhurst actually has some of the best lights, despite the dark patch up to the 6 yard box in front of the Holmesdale.

Brighton's are terrible, for such a new stadium. Brentford use candles. Charlton's ain't bad. Millwall's are average. Crawley's are shocking, and are all different shades of white and yellow, making images come out looking like different people have taken them. Watford's are ok, as are QPR's. Spurs were quite good.

I'd have to throw Real Betis in, my second team, and one who quite frankly at the present time we would easily beat - would be a good confidence booster;);)

What about Stichting Betaald Voetbal Vitesse from Arnhem. Croydon's twin town and all that?
