"This is what a decent attendance looks like".
Wow 27,000. Place must have been rocking.
I know we beat them on their own turf in the biggest derby of them all, won a big day out at Wembley, have added getting on for an extra quarter of a billion pounds to the coffers, get to watch our team in the Premiership AND were voted the best support in the Premiership.........but they really have the upper hand with their big ground and attendances don't they.

From NSC

My guess is that, for the time being, around 5% of the average Amex home crowd are significantly fans of other clubs and that another c.40% are recent arrivals as match-attending Albion fans. These figures will gradually "improve".

I'd actually be amazed if they made the top 10 in the championship this season....that's one hell of a tough league and in my eyes they haven't done enough to secure quality players. Also, i am not sure of Hyypia myself but then that's their problem.

Their 'fans' allegiance and support will certainly be called into question this season i think and it will be interesting to see what happens.

The low attendance could be down to holidays etc so the next few home games will provide a clearer picture down there

I think they have around 3,000 '1901 club members', people who paid for an x-year season ticket which includes cup games. On the basis that they (and we) announce tickets sold rather than actual attendence then I suspect there were probably fewer than 5,900 people there to witness the extraordinary event of Craig Mackail-Smith scoring a goal.

Don't understand these threads. Crowds of 16,000 for a club treading water around the relegation zone of the second tier, playing shit football, against a backdrop of sub 10,000 crowds for decades surely amounts to 'marvellous scenes'.

Exactly. Surely we should be focusing on the facts.

1. They were playing Fulham. We were playing at Swansea.
2. They lost to Fulham at the Amex. We drew at Swansea.

Doesn't matter how many turn up. At the end of the day the game isn't about getting the most amount of people in an area. It's about beating the opposition at football.

There is now a whole division between us, plus recent matches between us has us on top. So therefore Palace > Brighton.

So stop wanking over attendances and actually talk about something worthwhile. Like Fulham beating Brighton and then losing 4-0 (so far) against Watford.

Just seen the highlights from last nights Weed v Ipswich game. Attendance 23,880 apparently. If that's right Ipswich must have taken 15,000 to the game.

Plenty of empty seats now they've finished flirting with the play offs.

I'm surprised by their humility (or is that stupidity/ignorance?) to: (a) use our song; and (b) repeat a song which has haunted them in some of the biggest games in their history.

Brighton are regressing to their rightful position of anywhere in the top 35 - 55 teams in England. Meanwhile, we are perhaps at the top of our usual range of somewhere in the top 15 - 30 teams.

We will forever be the team, their most avowed rival, that came to their place and stole their Premier League dream from them.

Question is though, who has stolen all those people who (one assumes) have paid for tickets but can't be seen anywhere in the stadium?

Oh that old chesnut. We are in the best league in the world, fans who did not go as much in the championship have returned, higher away attendance also adds up. Me for instance I was a season ticket holder for donkeys years and followed the team to loads of away matches. I stopped going regular about 5 years ago due to various reasons but I will get a season ticket next year again regardless of what diviaion we are playing in. Brightons crowds as we all know aren't due to old fans returning but customers who want to watch football in a new stadium on a good deal that was put out by the club that's why the atmosphere at the Amex is shit they aren't 100% Brighton fans.

Sorry Heb, but that's balls.

I got banned to the away end here after 4 posts, this is a bear pit where anything goes, some of the abuse thrown at me back then was really extreme, especially via PM and Rep Comments.

NSC is not like that, our users get banned for abusing yours, you are asked to post only on Palace related threads for football talk or anywhere else if current affairs etc.

I am obviously now allowed to post anywhere, except GPD and I asked for that because of the volatile nature of some posters.

The year we got promoted, the average gate was actually over 17k with on many occasions, not that many away fans to swell the attendance.

The last 1 1/2 seasons we have had around a 24k average crowd with the away section nearly always full (2600 seats, I think).

Sorry to ruin your happiness, but even if the real number of attendance would be closer to 20 000 than 25 000 it's still quite a number for a team that has spent the last three decades in lower leagues. It's not many years ago when the average attendance was closer to 5000 than 20 000......and you expect us to be ashamed of 20 000? :lux::hi::lux: I don't care if they would claim the stadium to be sold out all the time, as long as there actually is more people than 5000 :)

I got you now, Butler (laughing). Palace LOL :)

Surely not....you took 20,000 to Rochdale..ask wankingclasspride over on nsc

this is our Board. Clear off back to your own delusional cheating club Board if you don't like it you poor Brighton Loser.

The only fun we get at the moment is laughing at you lot and the attendance things is pretty hilarious, even by your standards

Brighton LOL :D

He gets confused bless him, when you've pretended to be a Palace fan on here and then been found out, it's easy to forget yourself and post on the BBS.

another record. 25K there yesterday :D:D:D

Lots of season ticket holders haven't bothered this season, it's there for all to see.

No. You and this are becoming tiresome, 25k tickets SOLD.

Exactly. That'll include ticket holders who didn't turn up including season ticket holders and those with hospitality boxes they sold but couldn't fill (freebies).

So in reality, could've been much less.

1522 away fans too. So potentially there could've been less than 20000 Brighton customers in the ground.

So much for the waiting list.

The historic attendances prove you never get big crowds. Just because you magic up a few newbies who come along to watch their second team doesn't fool anyone. The good news is your financial cheating will be catching up with you soon. Poor little Brighton losers :D

Sending coaches to give out free tickets to kids counts as 'grooming' in Brighton doesn't it?

It is pretty funny when a club's only badge of honour due to its continued on pitch failure is the 'thousands locked out each week', waiting list, 'financial powerhouse of the Championship thanks to the Amex', 'teams being intimidated by the hotbed of the Amex big match/large crowd feel'.

A 'sold out' stadium courtesy of Tarquins setting aside some of their Ikea/weekend in the Cotswolds allowance for a season ticket they'll only use occasionally rather than going each time to roar their team onto mediocrity.

Decided against the boycott of "Franchise FC" then? Nothing to do with the cheap tickets of course.

Cardboard cut-outs don't make noise, but the 'fans' at least have a friend or two apart from their boyfriend(s).
