A friend wants to back a promising 16 year old boxer to be World Champion within, say, 10 years. I've seen stories in the papers about people doing this sort of thing. I imagine it's a question of phoning the bookmaker's head office and asking for a price.

Does anyone know which bookmakers are best for this sort of bet, and any idea of the odds he might expect?

William Hill are normally good for this type of thing.

Appreciate this isn't answering the question but a Shrewsbury-supporting mate of mine put money on Joe Hart playing for England when Hart was about 11 or 12 - he was that good. He got 800/1.

Before Joe Hart had broken into the City team and was still a kid in their academy a friend I went to uni was saying they knew him and he would play for England. One of our fellow mates insisted that at that age you couldn't tell and they placed a bet of some kind, can't remember the details but it was a very friendly bet.

Always stuck with me after he went onto become number 1.

Mental considering he was never an academy product there. Must have been a massive pay out!
