Leeds or Nottingham Forest, or could it be Blackburn in their away strip in the play off semi?

It's got to be 1989 Blackburn Rovers playoff I think. Bright just scored the 3rd goal

Last minute equaliser in the game v Blackburn earlier that season (February)? Bright got it I think.

Bright did not score against Blackburn. It's also at the Holmesdale end.

Away looks too full for it to be Blackburn? Leeds brought those kinds of numbers. Definitely 1988/89.

All yellow was a very common away kit in Division Two at that time.

Great pic though. So nice to see a picture from that time I've never seen before.

Vincent above sounds plausible if Rovers were taking a lot away then? They were going for promotion, so I suppose it's possible?

The kit looks more like the Leeds away kit (was it sponsored by Burton's that season?) than Blackburn's kit they wore in the PO Final Home leg?

Rings a bell, but it was dark.

Yep too light and at the wrong end too by the look of it. I had a quick look at 1988/89 goals on youtube - almost every team we played at Selhurst wore yellow!

Possibly 2-0 win vs Portsmouth 15th April 1989? Wright and Bright both scored.

As said the Holmesdale is empty, but packed in the play off and also in the video Blackburn have black tops to their socks.

Doesn't look like it was even Blackburn.

Day of Hillsborough

I always thought Palace were at Pompey that day? I was in a car going to a party in Burnley, and I didn't miss home games for such things? (I was sporting a stab wound that I joked I received at the hands of Pompey fans - maybe that's where I get the idea it was Pompey. Maybe it was the week before, or midweek)

The Radio 2 coverage was grim; through the journey the number of deaths got higher and higher. I had mates at the game, but in the Forest End.

On of the R2 Sport regulars, can't recall which one, not Alan Green, coped with the experience by delivering a mawkish poetry type ramble which really missed the mark. Seemed self important and not the straight journalism which was needed.

Mind you, we didn't get Hillsborough straight until recently. Even on here people choose to criticise Scousers for a 'victim culture'. I won't have that. What they experienced, the lies, the vilification from all, even other fans, and the battle they fought over Hillsborough deserves the utmost respect.

I think that it is the 89/90 kit and the Holmesdale was still quite sparsly populated until the cup final run.

I think it maybe Everton in September which would fit in with the clothing fans are wearing and the light I think.

Same here, except being 14, when I got home I was under the impression people had died crushed in a turnstile at Highbury :(

It was a very wierd and eventful end of the season, at other home games we had the Birmingham invasion, and at another game, the Purley rail crash.

All very memorable events connected with teenage trips to Palace on the train from Coulsdon which I will never forget.

Memorable (happy) ending at the Blackburn play-off game as well. Was late home from that one too :)

Look at the top left. You can see The Pink Panther with his hands on his head. I doubt whether a Blackburn fan would have turned up in that outfit.

Was a sunny day + Pompey wore white that day.

Bright did score at that end though

Gut feeling was the Blackburn league game in Feb 89 but it would appear Brighty's scored and his goal was at the other end.

The fact nearly every team had a boring all yellow away kit that year (Palace included) makes this very hard!
