Their website says he 'needs no introduction' to Albion fans. Well considering they averaged about 5k attendances when he left in 2003, I'd imagine the majority of the regulars at the Amex have never seen him play for Br*ghton.

Come on Al, billions were locked out!! Other 'facts' Brighton (spit) come out with:

They won the Community Shield in 1865 (or whenever)... I think Bobby Zamora may have scored the winner.

Having done that Vine and the welcome photos Zamora will be too tired to play the opening game of the season but should be fit for the second one. Has been a good player. Emphasis on has been.

TBF, I think it's a decent signing for them but since he left them
he has scored less goals in 13 seasons than he did for them between
2000 & 2003.

And I don't think all those fans on NSC are being quite truthful about
having since Zamora play. Yes they probably have seen him in action - But
that would be against their first teams of Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs.......

They probably have all seen him, the people that go on NSC anyway. It's their season ticket holders who go on the Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and United boards that wouldn't have seen him. Im sure they'll be rushing out to have his name printed on their tesco bags

Chelsea 'fans' do exactly the same.

Any Chelsea 'fan' from about 18 years old and upwards claims that 'I used to go over Chels all the time' before they got big.

They simply cannot all be telling the truth.

Why lie?

Why not just admit that you 'support' a team that you have no affiliation with because they are successful on TV a lot.

You'll know who the 6,000 Brighton fans are that actually saw him play for them the first time around as they'll be the ones applauding him when he sets foot on their pitch. The other 14,000 will be looking at their mobiles to see how their prem team is getting on. Or going home early through lack of interest.

Given their losses and mass cheating living outside of their means why should they be allowed to get any new signings. This is a moral violation of FPP and there seems to be a growing dissatisfaction from other clubs' that clubs like Brighton are allowed to get away with. 200m and 10m pa. it's outrageous

I seem to remember him getting some booing in a Spurs-Palace game at White Hart Lane a very long time ago, and also remember we came up against him when he played for West Ham in the 2004 Play Off Final, however as you will remember that ended up "West Ham Nil"

He was on the subs bench for the Spurs match and the subs warmed up down the Palace end. Being a cup match, and one of Dowie's first matches, we took a big allocation. The booing started the first time he warmed up, continued every time he warmed up and when he came on as a sub. That was Jan 2004. He moved to West Ham later that month and as you point out he was on the losing side in Cardiff less than 5 months later.

Bloody hell you lot don't half bang on about Zamora don't you ?
He will be back at Albion as a twenty minute man at end of games I would have thought, possibly start a few games, who knows ?
What I do know is its good to have a lovely stadium, the best training facilities and academy in Britain (as voted by Premier League Managers last year) and a very bright future for Brighton and Hove Albion.
You may have got to the Premier League a long time before us, but ask any neutral who will be the club of the future out of Albion and Palarse and I think you know the answer will be Brighton and Hove Albion 9/10 !!
Enjoy your season ladies !!

Palace who finished 11th and 10th and have just bought Cabaye or you Tarquins who've choked in the play-offs twice and had a dogshit season last year? Hard choice.

edit: does it not concern you that your 'lovely' stadium and training ground etc are losing you 12m a year?

It would be wouldn't it if thats all that fits in it !
But some of your " less fortunate in the brain cell department " forum users say it as though we had low crowds because no one wanted to watch the matches, which is incredibly thick isn't it ?
Stop getting so upset because it's a Championship side with far more supporters and higher home crowds every week. HA HA HA ! :p:S::S:

If it was full every week Tarquin how did you average 6802 in 2006 and 5993 in 2007 ? Did a stand blow away ? No ,the seats were not comfortable and the team was shit so you stayed away as you did when your ground was sold.
Enjoy your day after the win ,I am off to watch Palace in the Premier league.:hi:

Give me a traditional stadium all day. One with 90 years of club history. One regularly lauded as having the best atmosphere. Where you can park in nearby local streets for free and have large range of pubs, cafe's, takeaways and bookies within walking distance. Where you don't have to move fixtures because of the local bonfire night or university open day. Where there are three stations in walking distance. Where we don't need padded seats or words to songs shown on the big screen. Where we don't have to subsidise supporters travel to games to get a crowd in.

Didn't we have all this stuff about you being the team of the future and how you'd move ahead of us as a football club a few years back before we royally f**ked you over? You talk the talk, we walk the walk.

To be honest most 'neutrals' (if there really is such a thing) respect Palace right now, I would say that most of them don't even register Brighton as a football club.

If they'd sold Withdean out each week then no we couldn't, a club can only sell the seats it has.

The problem is that they failed to do this, their supporters didn't want to know at that time when the club was potentially going to the wall. Yet once better times came along, the shiny new stadium and promise of the Premier League all their fairweather, newby fans suddenly wanted a piece of the action.

And then they have the bare faced cheek to come on here (on the rare occasion they win a game) and talk about attendances and try and hold that pathetic part time support up as some kind of bragging right.

We don't make too much of that 3-0 win, probably as it's no great shakes to stick 3 (or more) goals past Brighton, but look at their reaction in the reverse fixture down there; St Patrick's Day massacre etc.

Points to note:

1. Actual player trading profit was 8.7m so after the 'depreciation' of the contracts of the other players its just over 6m

2. The accounts say that 'Football Costs' include academy and training ground running costs - they split out players salaries etc as 20.6 so there seems to be another 3.1m from somewhere. Can this really be the running costs of the training ground and academy ?

3. 'Admin & Op' costs again look pretty fixed

The big issue is this

Everything except trading looks pretty fixed. Crowds may go up a bit and they may sell a few more pies but essentially its difficult to see these being much different to c24m pa

Depreciation is set in stone for another 48-49 years ie 5m pa

Admin and op costs look pretty fixed at 12m.

So unless they can reduce football costs, if they don't go up its difficult to see how their losses will be much different from:

24 - 5 - 23 - 12 + X = - 16 + X where X is Player profits less player amort

ie very bad news if they don't go up

No chance, you guys are a lot better than we are now, it doesn't mean it has to stay that way in the future though.

Well, it's been that way for a pretty long time old chap.

No, but it was you guys that called us cheats for doing exactly that.

No. We call you hypocrites because you lot bang on about our administrations and carefully ignore the fact that you have been bankrolled by a rich benefactor and are still making a loss.

I honestly have never claimed you are unsustainable. I believe we are sustainable while Bloom is is in charge.

My God, I thought you would have learned something, anything, while you've been away, but no you are still just as deluded as you always were.....how, really, is losing 10 - 11 million a year sustainable?? Please explain Andy, if you can!!

We sold him for 10 million and he scored more Premiership goals than Murray last season.

Such a shame Murray didn't need to be sold in order for him to play Premier League football. Now we'll never know who was worth more.
