That Van Gerwen Van Barneveld match was a joke. Van Gerwen lost with a 105.78 average. Incredible.

A brilliant match. I turned the football over for it and glad i'm did. It blows the tournament wide open now, though the reigning champ was impressive tonight.

I have never seen a match as good as that before! It shows that anyone has a chance of winning the title. I am fancying Michael Smith to step up and have a real good go. Disappointed with Wade so far, his finishing needs to improve massively if he is to progress.

:sob:Went to lump on Barney at 3 down. Had a new debit card. By the time I'd fecked about he'd won the next set and the value was gone. Great match but always felt Barny would win even though he could have got done in the decider.

Haven't watched it,but is this the same Barney as the slightly overweight chap from the early to mid-noughties?

Amazing comeback from Barney but also fair play to a Smith who could've completly caved once Barney came back from 3 sets down. But to be on his knees at 2-0 down in the final set after turning it round and then letting Smith back in was amazing.

Not sure how much energy he'll have left to beat Lewis though after that match and MVG

I've never been into darts but am now hooked as is the wife. Would love to go to the ally pally to take in the atmosphere. It's mental and as they said on talksport it's the only sport that you pay shit loads of money to watch it on the telly.(unless you are in the restricted view seats in the upper holmsdale that is)

aj4england

Been to the 'watch' a few times! Fanatastic night out and despite watching it on the tv for 99% of the time, you are part of the atmosphere and also the tension and highs are increased massively when live.

This tournament has been fantastic due to the increased standard, partly due to the players now ultra confident with playing on TV due to the amount that it occurs.

Tonights games will be just as good! If barney were too get to the final, would be one of the greatest sporting achievements this year, to beat Bunting, MVG, Smith and Lewis is as hard as it gets

from what I saw last night the BDO is looking a very tried format now, Fitton and Silverback were knocked out yesterday, I cant believe there isnt more talent challenging players like these two, Durrant the No1 seed is not at all pleasant on the eye, Waites, Mitchell, Wolfie and Hankey are worth a watch, and there are a couple of young Dutch players in the draw

Only one bore in there in Thornton.

Would rather have had the entertainment of Klaasen!

I was at the darts last night for my birthday and while neither match was a classic, each had its highlights. Well I say that but about 10 seconds after Anderson threw the 9 darter I got thrown out for standing on my seat. Nazi bouncers.

Still I didn't care one bit, doesn't get better than seeing my favourite darts player throw the first and only 9 darter of the tournament on a table with 16 mates on my birthday. Unbelievable scenes, quite surreal.

Pleased he finished the job tonight. Top bloke.

Miscounting from 24. Fvcking unreal. Ridiculous to the sublime though.

In the last leg, when Anderson was briefly on for a 9-darter after a 170 checkout, the commentator said 'if he got that we might as well have packed up and gone home.'

That's exactly what you would have done yeah as it would have been over, which it was

Sounds like a Mardle thing to say (even if it wasn't him who said it) however I think he meant in the sense that it would be impossible to ever match getting a 9 darter to win the world title, which is a fair point.

It wasn't Mardle, or Parr, it was the 'other one'.

I understood his meaning. It was just the timing of it.

it was a daft line, why on earth would we want to "pack up and go home" even a player hitting a set of 9 darters would be captivating

Can understand the Prem League line-up, looks great. Klassen getting beat 6-0 probably put an end to his hopes of Prem league. Michael Smith is loved within the darting world and anything to promote him is in the interest in a lot of parties.

Thornton in as a, hit a lot of 180s and also won a tournament this year. Wade has improved though really would have preferred Klassen over him.
