Looking at the guides it would appear that near the ground it's either the the Old Farmhouse and The prince of Wales

Nearer the City Centre is the Duke of Wellington or the Juniper Tree. Has anyone been to either of these previously

i wouldnt bother with either of the former. if its real ale pubs you are looking for the latter two you have mentioned would be suitable. however i would recommend the st denys area rather than soton ctl, (it will mean changing at eastleigh or a cab from central) 3 decent pubs by st denys stn in the dolphin, the junction and south western arms. the excellent guide dog is in a back street in nearby bevois valley

There are much better real ale pubs down here than all of those four.

The guide dog that you mentioned being one of them.

If you are on the train and in no rush have a butchers at The Wellington Arms. 10 min walk from station, but unfortunately not in the direction of the ground

I very much enjoyed The Sadlers on London Road for the cup game
