Looks to of been confirmed by the club but the link doesn't seem to lead anywhere from the one the club has posted on social media. Says it will take place on the 25th July.

New ground for us at least.

Well new ground for most :p

What was the stadium like? I've past it a few times and it just looks like a mini Doncaster stadium.

It's not as good as that.

And miles from the station.

Jimmy Kebe's finest hour in a Palace shirt, as I remember. And a cracking goal. We won 5-2.

They also had Freddie Sears, if I remember correctly.

Their scorer with a brace was chap called Freddie Ladapo - now where have I heard that name before? :)

Massive car park, modern ground, almost nothing else near the ground though apart from a main road!

7pm kick off is a bit early, nevertheless would be taking a half day off work anyway, so not a problem.

If anything epitomises the modern football stadium more than being able to cross the busy a road to get to a McDonald's and M&S then I am yet to hear it!

There is a TableTable chain pub/restaurant one junction east along the A12. Not as good as the numerous 'real' pubs in Colchester itself but adequate for many considing the ground is stuck out on a ring road in the middle of nowhere

I've decided to go to this, but going to be working. If anyone wants a lift from the Canary Wharf area (leaving about 4pm) and going back towards Bromley, let me know!

Anyone happen to know when they go on sale, or whether they will be available to buy on the day? Just that I'm on holiday for 2. 5 weeks in July but back in time for the game

Went there as a young lad circa '73/74 for a night game. Pretty sure it was 1-1 and kicked right off at the end and I ended up missing the coach back and bunking a lift home from some lovely Palace fans who saw me wandering aimlessly.

I believe that there are buses from the town to the ground.

Colchester will bring about 20 fans to this so I'd imagine you can turn up on the day and get a ticket on the gate without any problems what so ever.

Nice little ground for what it's worth but completely lifeless outside so don't expect to be able to have a few drinks before the game as it's a bit of a trek to the nearest boozer.

Can you just turn up and park in that giant car park?

Me and my mates have done this for league games, so a friendly should be no problem. Think it is about 5-10quid to park

Swanny32
09-07-2016, 05:55 PM
Yeah the car park outside the main entrance of the ground will accommodate you no problems, if however, they have a big turnout for the game (I doubt) then it's a nightmare to get out of afterwards. I always park in one of the industrial estate car parks, 5 minute walk away for 5 and much easier to get out of after.

BUSES REPLACE TRAINS FOR PART OF THE RETURN JOURNEY

There is a replacement Bus Service on the night of the match replacing the return train service from Colchester to Liverpool Street.

The buses are running from Colchester to Chelmsford from where you can catch a train for the rest of the journey back to Liverpool Street.

The replacement buses will take about an hour to get to Chelmsford and will be leaving Colchester Station at the same times as the trains that they are replacing.

Abellio Greater Anglia have been made aware of the situation after I spoke to them and will be running more replacement buses as a result.

I hope that common sense prevails and that the planned engineering works have their date changed so as to not clash with the Palace match.

My tickets arrived today.

Please see Post #37 if you are travelling by train as part of the return journey will be by a replacement bus service from Colchester to Chelmsford.

I have today contacted Abellio Greater Anglia for an update on their Rail Replacement Bus Service for the return journey.

Colchester are expecting a crowd of about 4,500 for this game having just spoken to them about my concerns of the Rail Replacement Bus Service for the return journey.

They share my concerns and will liaise with the train provider Abellio Greater Anglia.

These tickets are no longer available online from CPFC box office but I just bought tickets in the away end very easily direct from Colchester - www.colutickets.com - they are print at home too so can buy up until the day. Although Palace originally said it was all ticket for away fans I can't imagine they won't also be selling on the evening.

I just bought a ticket for this one. Parking easy enough?

Oh and if anyone needs a lift back to the Beckenham area after the game then PM me ASAP. Want to rush off straight after the final whistle and can't take up in the ay as am going up early to see family, but way back is no problem.

Oh and is it expected to be the first team?

Is Souare injured? Don't remember reading anywhere that he was but he's not featured at all so far and it's a bit concerning that Fryers is our replacement...! Haven't even read in the build up to games that he is someone missing like today when Millen mentioned McArthur, Sako, Zaha and Tomkins were out.

I'm at the game. For me: Half time report from Colchester. Pretty boring. Like watching England. All backwards and sideways passing. Boateng and Dann MOM so far for me. Apart from that no one has done much. Mutch scored though. Usual lack of creativity in centre and no decent striker. Wickham has looked poor. Yala just strolling arrogantly
