We are in Weardale/North Durham for a weeks holiday 3-11th September, so I have absolutely no excuse not to re-visit Boro, apart from the numerous ground 'tick' opportunities in the Northern League/Evo Stick etc!!

We got 42 return from London at the weekend - going via Leeds. Did mean we had to get one that got into Middlesboro at around 2ish though but was much better than the prices for the earlier trains!

Worth looking via York/Leeds rather than Darlington to see if any decent prices are still around.

I've just managed to get two singles for 40 to and from Eaglescliffe (stop before Boro) on Grand Central with a railcard. Takes a bit of working out but worth the 15 or so saving and get home quicker than with Virgin - 8am or so out of Kings Cross to get the lowest price mind.

We did this, via Leeds on the way and then via Darlington on the way home - 42 return with a railcard. Did mean only getting to Boro just after 2pm though which isn't great but seemed the better option than some of the prices for the earlier trains!

Are tickets for Middlesbrough and Sunderland going to be tough to get hold of? I'd presume the distance and sizeable allocations would mean that it isn't.

First year season ticket holder so very low on the points scale.

If you go to away games with a mate or mates on a regular basis get a two together rail card( is restricted to the two chosen ppl) kings x to eaglescliffe works out almost 40 each ( cheapest I could find)so allow for 30 card which you obv split and it still works out 55 each HTH :p.

I've done this. First class right now is only just above the price of standard on the 08:11 out of KGX, return the standard is pretty decent.

Expecting this to be popular.

You also have the option of getting off at York or Northallerton on this service.

I imagine pretty soon.

And considering the large capacity (33000+) and the fact that it's a new build means that the minimum they have to give us (if we needed it) is 3000 tickets, I reckon everyone who wants a ticket will get one easily enough.

Virgin trains currently have a sale on, 50% off certain trains at the moment between September and November so may be worth having a look to see if any deals to reduce cost of this. Saw it on the trainline but can't imagine you can only get the sale tickets through them - go to Virgin website directly.

Loads of cheap car parks near the town centre. The multi stories are pretty good. There's also a car park near the transporter bridge that I think is fairly cheap. It's one of the best places in the country to park.

Just had a look on Boro's website. I think we only took an initial allocation as most likely if we took the full allocation of 3000 the club has to pay for it whether we sell it all or not, so the club probably didn't take the risk. Boro are selling seats in the area normally for segregation (like we do when clubs don't sell as many or where a zero police presence happens) which leads me to think that's what we've done.

I imagine an initial allocation is over a 1000. Not too bad. Not helped by the extortionate travel prices via train.

Away tickets aren't printed at CPFC they already come printed.
Problem is they are being stored in a different part of the ground so even if you go into the box office and buy them they can't give you them . This is ridiculous surely they could have a safe out the back ?

Only a few tickets remaining for borough away
Is it not rocket science to bring the remaining tickets to the box office daily and sell them?
How is it possible that someone walks in today buys an away borough ticket they can't receive them needs to be posted today or tomorrow on the chance you'd receive them by Friday?
It just makes it stressful when buying tickets whether they arrive on time .

When I walk in and want to buy an away ticket you'd think you'd be able to pick it up I've 2 away season tickets so they get sent out but I've bought 2 extra Sunderland 2 Spurs 5 borough all same thing had to wait for them to be delivered

This latest system in BS since they've downsized the ticket office
Is it hard to bring 150 away tickets daily when the box office opens in the morning?

I ordered mine on line on Monday

Can't say I'm overly confident of having it in my hand when I set off Sat morning !

these tickets were ordered 2 weeks ago and they insisted on posting them out due to 'the new procedure'. well the postie has 2 days to deliver them before I leave boro at 6am sat. outrageous decision

Will see if it turns up today and ring BO if not. Looking at Laggin's post, I'm even less confident it will

Can't be bothered to try and get tickets today ( if there are any left ), having read the above.

I know I've left it late , but it looks like people have ordered 2 weeks ago and haven't got their tickets !

We get told by Parish that the whole 'Typical Palace' thing is negative and we need to move away from it. I couldn't agree with him more, but maybe the club should focus on not making simple things so long winded and difficult.

If you do, they won't be posted out now. They'll probably be taken up on the club coach so you can collect them at the ground.

Yep , would expect that to be the case so late in the game :)

I almost always get brilliant seats for away games (no exception at Boro) so broadly speaking the box office staff themselves are very good in my experience.

However it would appear that the material changes to the box office (an open counter with limited security) is at the root cause of the frustration that people cannot now take away ticket purchases in person (for away games). Surely they could just be kept in a locked drawer?

'Typical Palace' is a phrase you so often feel like saying though if you are ambitious enough at a home game to want a beer or pie at half time, or watch the post-match televised game at the ground!

When I walk in and want to buy an away ticket you'd think you'd be able to pick it up I've 2 away season tickets so they get sent out but I've bought 2 extra Sunderland 2 Spurs 5 borough all same thing had to wait for them to be delivered
RidiculousI also discovered this new innovation last weekend. Went to the box office on Saturday to buy Southampton tickets and was told I could pay for them but they would be sent by post as it's no longer possible to buy away tickets over the counter. Amazing that anyone at the club would consider this to be an acceptable state of affairs.

Typical Palace.

Also Typical Palace - Red N' Blue bar not pre-pouring drinks for half time, resulting in a long wait.

Just working out where to park for this one - been recommended a long stay car park nearby which a Boro supporting colleague uses, but wondered about any other recommendations in case it is full?

The Zetland multi story near the town centre is pretty good.2 or 1.50 all day I think. There is also a decent car park near the transporter bridge. Both a 15 minute walk at a decent pace. There is no shortage of cheap parking 15-20 minutes from the ground.

Have been told to turn right when yo get off the main A road to the ground (stadium is a left turn) go back over the main A road and there is usually plenty of street parking there. 10/15 min walk to the ground and you're straight back on the the main road out after.

when I bought my Spurs tickets they said they would have to post them to me as the portacabin was not secure, I asked about their postage and the problems people had with the post, she assured me that tickets booked that day are collected at 4pm the same day by the postal service, mine took 9 days to arrive!!! they need a new courier, I will be well pissed off if I go to the box office and cant take them away with me, THATS THE POINT OF GOING THERE!!!!

They want everything online (although the online booking site is a fiasco at the best of times & postage is so poor!) I have cut sown on away games in the Prem anyway, if I have to give it up altogether then so be it.

I couldn't even get a drink against WBA. "the staff haven't turned up" and the new tills are down, pre order next time" were 2 of the excuses given. back downstairs for a warm 4.50 bottle of Carlsberg then

Boro was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. There was a proper weird smell in the air though. Kind of like sulphur.

Hence the name Smoggies as you approached Boro on the A19 there was always a haze over the area from all the Chemical plants that were there I new a lad that worked down there near the ICI sulphuric plant he parked his car there daily and after a few years the paint started to lift off the bonnet.
After air pollution acts have come in much better there ..
