I'd rather be playing them a bit later when we have a fully fit and firing team, don't want to leave anything to chance.

Tottenham away and Mullery on the pitch at half time please

I was disappointed on Saturday that Mullery was not on pitch and they interviewed Ledley King instead.

I would like Gillingham (home or away) with Tony Pulis on at half time.

I always feel deflated getting Southampton in a draw, but in the last few years we've done well against them in the cups (last yr FA and 2011 or 2012 ? in League cup)

However I am still haunted by that day of expectation and ultimate devastation in SW London in 1976 when Peter Taylor was kicked off the pitch by the Soton scum. My first of admittedly few away days.

I think it's an ok draw, near enough to get there and back with only an afternoon needed off work. Decent pubs, atmosphere, cheap tickets, and it would be nice to get more cup revenge for 76. Out of interest, where do you think we can realistically finish?

A great season would be finishing 10th. I just don't see how finishing 10th can compare or get close to a cup run.

Maybe it's just me but I suspect if Punch scored the goal that secured our 10th place it might not be as exciting as his goal in cup final.

Oh come on, we've never sold these things well. We used to get 4000 when we were in the championship. Its August so people are away or just spent shitloads on holidays and we had a stupid kick off time of 7.30 which puts pressure on people to make it from work. Not knowing the draw before the West Brom game won't have helped either.

Not knowing the draw before the West Brom game won't have helped either.

 Tickets for Blackpool went on sale on the morning of WBA at home

I don't expect anything other than a very low crowd for a game like Blackpool, and even if tickets had been 10 I don't think there would have been double the crowd.

Clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal can get huge crowds for 'extra' fixtures at home like the minor League Cup games because people who cannot get tickets normally go - at Palace I don't get the impression there are thousands of fans who cannot get a ticket that would otherwise come.

I quite like the more relaxed 'half empty' stands at home once or twice a season, makes a change not to be rammed in and queue for everything.

Southampton will get a reasonable crowd at circa 12 - 15 for adults, which is fair, and the away league game there is only 20 for adults this season so the away following should be better than usual for that fixture too

Funny how we manage to get a decent crowd vs Liverpool etc though.

I do know what you are saying, however there will always be many fans who will hold a season ticket as an effective way of getting to the majority (or all) of the home league games) and be happy with that, and will have to be seriously tempted by a 'big club' opponent, or a major fixture (eg play-off or a cup semi final) before they choose attend again above and beyond those 19 games.

There is a sliding scale of attendance based on other pressures on their spare time, cost, attractiveness of opponent/importance of fixture, and general apathy over what is largely a crap competition (.until the later stages) or pre season friendlies etc.

I couldn't be arsed with the Valencia friendly to be honest, and enjoyed a day at the seaside instead. I didn't feel like it was a 'have to be there' fixture, and equally I can understand fans with the same opinion of the Blackpool game - even if we had won 6-0 with a Benteke hat-trick, so what? Many people would still rather see a close and more competitive game against Bournemouth on a Saturday at 3pm

Palacemad2002

Funny how we manage to get a decent crowd vs Liverpool etc though.

Do you know what ive come to realise in life, who gives a shit? Its just a pastime and a sport. Who are we trying to impress exactly? I love going to Palace and always have. I didnt go the other night because i had plans with the missus. Shes understanding enough on all the Saturdays that i sack her off to go to Selhurst or some other corner of the country somewhere to watch us play. For a lot of people, as much as they love Palace its very much give and take with Partners, kids, work etc and quite frankly Blackpool at home on a Tuesday night isn't at the top of the list for many people. Add to that the rare early kick off time and weird ticket restrictions, hey presto... 7,000.

True but the club doesn't help with the restrictions and the pricing. The Criydon area has a transient population with a lot of newcomers and the Blackpool type of game was a good chance to get new to the area (many low paid) customers/supporters. The 20 pay on the day and all the member restrictions stuff is not the way to do it. Missed opportunity. Personally, it was the 7.30 that put me off. I would have had to leave work in London early, get the train back to kent and pick my son up and drive up the M20, M25, Farnborough Bypass, Hayes Common, Gravel Hill etc to get to the ground by 7.30.

I suspect that the 7.30 kick off was to attract more casual fans with kids to come, and also to ensure (for the aforementioned) that it didn't go on really late if there was extra time/pens which we have seen in a few games this week.

However quite a number of the longstanding Palace fans (the 'hardcore' if you like) don't live all that close to Selhurst any more, and so a 7.30 start is bit off-putting for them. The M25 anti-clockwise was knackered and down to one lane from J15 to J11 from 4pm for example which made it a challenging journey for Blackpool fans for example (their one fans coach arrived at half time!) and some Palace fans will come from that side the M25 and know that rush hour traffic before evening games can be a ball-ache

FA cup has been Saturday's. Need to take the day off to do this one so likely to be a smaller contingent than usual. Someone said earlier about both teams playing Sunday so likely to be Wednesday. Shame, I really like a day down there.

The usual suspects for me:
Southampton, Reading or Bournmouth away coz there within easy reach. Portsmouth already out.

Why the **** do we always seem to draw these tossers away in the cup? Been about 3 times in 4 seasons hasnt it?My thoughts exactly and always away...seems like 20 times in 5 seasons..:frown:
