The other week Southampton played Man u in a Friday night game
This is what Southampton did for there fans, reason I know is a friend of mine took up there offer
The offer was free coach travel and match tickets were 20
I realize that it is a longer journey etc etc for them, My friend said the club wanted to get as much support up there as possible and for a game albeit the first (I think), it was on sky which can put people off going, plus it was in the height of the school holidays
I am guessing that our club are confident that we will get fans up there and it will be a reasonable turnout

Most groups have fans on different points, so all it does is irritate.

I've booked travel and hotel. cannot believe that we are not just opening it up to all members and season ticket holders to buy as many as they want. We will nowhere near sell out. People want to be able to book travel together.

dweedman
05-09-2016, 02:56 PM
Might as well do all season ticket holders and members 2 tickets per reference. We still wouldn't sell out anyway.

EddieEdwards
05-09-2016, 03:16 PM
Exactly the same phasing arrangements for Middlesbrough, Southampton, Sunderland and Everton. All very unnecessary for these games. And the worst bit is that even in the last phase only one guest ticket is allowed per member. Although, if the club is taking much smaller allocations than we're entitled to for games like this, then I suppose they then need to use the phasing to be on the safe side. Whatever it is they're doing, there's a feeling that they're trying to restrict travelling support rather than encourage it.

Maybe they are being a little (over)cautious whilst they gauge if the reduced ticket prices (30 cap) has had any effect?

^^^^this^^^^
Even tho there's a seat number, when the stand is half empty, the tickets are effectively for ground entrance and an unofficial unreserved seating policy will mean everyone will be able to sit with whom they like in a part of the stand they like, with half of us standing in the upper third of the stand.

I know I will be corrected on this with the official line + their stewards could be pedants, etc...., but it really won't be a problem and plenty of tickets to go around.

I'm not one of the usual crew of moaners.

But ticketing is a joke. Lack of attention (stupid phasings etc), poor service (tickets not loaded, system not working). For groups in particular it's a pain and just not needed.

At the moment, these first games mean it is no more than inconvenient. It leaves me with no confidence whatsoever that they will get it right for the more in demand games.

Good point. Modern football

Shame they cant decide which games are going to be TV games earlier though, i wonder if this one is on due to Bolasie's transfer.

Anyway, it's all worked out rather nicely now; I'll be able to spend Saturday at the Liverpool museum.

I've used Walton Park sports centre a couple of times.
5 two years ago and not bad to get out after.
Like all these football parking sites the earlier that you get there the best getaway spots are available.
It's not the most obvious side of the ground to park when coming from the south but I was on the motorway really quickly.

Great atmosphere that day, up there with the best. Helped having the drum and a hardcore group at the back of the stand, helped by unreserved standing

I do hope the coach is leaving at a reasonable time. Its Friday!!!

For every 15 minutes they leave after 13:00 they can add another 15 minutes to the journey time. They need to be on the M1 by 14:30.

Aside from the odd game, usually with free travel, we definitely aren't a big coach travelling away support. I always think that's a bit of a northern thing. Car or train for me and tonight it's the car.

You forgot Charlton :D, yeah we do take a few if free travel but I've been loads of games where we've taken a large support but 2-3 coaches:D.

Mon dieu this train must be going at warp speed compared to that coach. Getting to any match for an evening kick off from selhurst is a nightmare. Did everton twice on the coach (1 being the postponed game and the other the rescheduled match) just took bloody ages that first time. Coming home though it's as plain sailing as could be for a coach.

The coach is a hateful way to travel to away matches as far as I'm concerned. Slow, congested, and NO BLOODY BOOZE. But I do appreciate that for midweek matches, it represents the only means by which to get back to London the same night. And the regulars seem to like it.

With that in mind, and with the constant complaints being made by the regulars, why don't you just organise your own? Less admin for the club (there's no profit in it for them), control for the regulars - everyone's a winner, baby.

Why don't you speak to the club about it and see if you can trial one coach for a match?

Then i would definatley take that up with the club Keith they set the times. Been the same for years as you know. They need someone who can organise things properly . There is one person who is more than qualified to do that and all those regulars who travel, will know exactly who that is.

I went by car and left at 9am, got stuck behind an M25 crash almost immediately (I know of another who was also stuck in the same stoppage) which took half an hour. M40 largely uneventful, services stop for a KFC on the M6, then dreadful traffic on the M6 from Junction 16 as a car had broken down in the middle of the roadworks. Came off at 17 for a Runcorn detour and got a puncture! (glad it didn't happen on the motorway though)!

Changed the wheel, and then it was fairly alright until a load more roadworks around Runcorn/M56/Mersey Bridge.

Finally got parked up at 4pm - 7 eventful hours after setting off! Said then the coach would never make it on time what with the time they set off. Saw the regulars arrive in the ground at 8.15.

I said at Sunderland to a coach regular that they should have been looking at a 1130 departure like they did for the Sunderland night game the season before, simply because it was a Friday.

Hopefully if there another Friday night away trip they will learn from experience.
