Anyone got any tips for decent pubs ? We're staying in Newcastle so would prefer to drink in/near Sunderland to break it up a bit.

Don't know it too well, but had a pint in Fitzgeralds (food looked good but didn't eat there), then went via a Spoons and a Revolution, to the Isis pub. Brilliant for ale drinkers but generally a great place. If short for time, will just go straight there this time. Just got a taxi from there.

The Colliery Tavern - right outside the ground.

:p:p
Some of the North East exiles always meet in there. They have a outside bar in a Marquee / Gazebo thing and you can drink out side on the grass.
We always have good banter with the locals there and only 2 minute walk from away turnstiles

Excellent pub - service inside is top notch too.

Yeah Colliery Tavern is ok and really handy for the ground. If you park on Crozier Street it's free and there is a brilliant chippy that does feck off bits of fish with nice chips. Plus it's only a short walk to the pub and a fast out to the motorway after the match.

Doesn't help you much if you are coming by train, granted.

Anyone have any good pub recommendations for Sunderland. A couple of guys im heading up with usually drink in Toon pre match and then just hop on the metro but we're tight on time so are going to head straight there on the metro. The choice seems rather limited!

Colliery Tavern. Near the ground, can drink outside.
