Going to the 50 over final at Lords tomorrow. Anyone else going? Lucky that Palace v Stoke was moved to Sunday.

Come on Surrey. Century for Jason Roy?

Should be a very interesting final, I would say Surrey will need a score in excess of 320 to feel comfortable, and Jason Roy but especially Sangakara are going to prove pivotal in achieving this.

Love the 50 over format but will be away this weekend.

Hopefully some big performances and we can get the win - enjoy all.

Will be there and looking forward to it. Looks likely to be a grey old day. Maybe look to bowl first if they win the toss. After last years collapse we need this. Come on!

The main reason you cannot take supporting a county seriously, too many of the competitions are just ruined by the dependence on dry weather (like getting knocked out of the t20 by a no result). I will be there tomorrow supporting surrey none the less and hoping for a dry day.

Going to Sutton v Tranmere instead. (Live on BT)

I ducked out of the cricket because I thought it clashed with the Stoke game. Doh.

That makes no sense does it? You are going to the Sutton game because you thought the cricket match which is not sold out clashed with the palace game .

Well it might not make sense to you scro.

It makes perfect sense to me because I'm getting into Sutton for nowt as opposed to shelling out 50 for a ticket to Lords where I could no longer sit with my old man.

That and the 'Country before Club' which doesn't blight football thank Goodness! The Currans have been a wonderful introduction but I expect the ECCB to come along and put them on central contracts. That'll be it for seeing and enjoying them at The Oval.

That said, I hope Surrey put on a good show and win tomorrow. After a shocking start to the season they got their act together and with the weather, improved.

Did anyone else go to the Nat West final in 1982 when Surrey won by 9 wickets? At one point Warwickshire were 75-8 and some Birmingham fans supporting Warwickshire were anticipating the cricket finishing in time for them to get to Arsenal (I think) for 3pm kick-off.

I was there, aged 13. It was my first time at Lord's.

The following day Surrey played Hants at The Oval in the Sunday league - Graham Monkhouse asked me onto the pitch to have a pre-match knock/catch with him.

Surrey won the toss and chose to bat first in the Royal London One-Day Cup final at Lord's. With six of the last eight Lord's finals having been won by the team batting second, Surrey's decision is something of a surprise.

Got to admit it raised my eyebrows. Early start in mid September was always gonna be tricky to set a big total.

Did well to get to the final but a big letdown on the day.

One wonders why Batty chose to bat first as Warwickshire made light work of dismissing Surrey. In the end a routine win - well done Warwickshire. :p

On my way home from this now too, very disappointing but as I said to my mates, this showpiece final should really be shoehorned into a weekend in mid or late August because the conditions make it so one sided. Agree Gareth played I to their hands with the tied though. Never mind, bit like Palace, consolidating and gett

Just home. Rarely will you see a lamer snoozefest. One of those days you deeply regret spending 50. I thought it odd to bat and odd to not play a bit more sensibly and at least getting a semi respectable total once things started to slow right down.

I've not attended a match so late in the year and in truth a game that takes hours in cold weather does take a lot of enjoyment away. Only just warming up.

We just don't seem to have the bottle in big games, there is a nervousness about our batting especially in the middle order. Apart from Sangakkara we still need a solid experienced batsman in the middle order to give the side a better balance, hopefully the Durham boys will strengthen the batting next season.
As for the bowling, we must find a spot for Foottit so as to give the attack a better variety, i suppose this season was always going to be a settling in period, and with the Curran brothers gaining experience, so hopefully we should see an improvement next season.

Bit lazy to give MoM to Trott in my opinion. The game was won in the first innings, not the second. You can argue a case for all five of Warks' wicket takers ahead of him.

I just can't understand the decision to bat. Overcast, damp and cool conditions in mid September surely screams: bowl first...

Surely?

Surely?

One would think so. On the field, Batty said that he wanted to post a total and that he thought the morning conditions would remain throughout the day. Bell said he would have batted, too.

Ultimately, Warks knew exactly what they needed and were able to play risk-free cricket. I've no doubts Surrey would have chased 136 if they'd batted 2nd. But that's hindsight, right? Maybe they were scarred by their inability to chase down a modest total in last year's Final.

It's days like today that I think about Tom Maynard.

Yes a real tragedy had the makings of a future Surrey great, but i have to say what Surrey need is another strong character/captain like Adam Hollioak, as competitive as Batty is, he lacks shrewdness in spotting opportunities in my opinion.
I thought Bell was superb in how he captained, using his bowlers brilliantly also his field placement was excellent. As for Surrey, we just never turned up yesterday frustratingly so especially after an excellent start, so the result was a forgone conclusion. I feel the team lineup is very unbalanced especially in its batting, what makes that statement seem strange is when you consider we have in the team one of the finest batsman over the past 15 years in Sangakkara, yet fail to get a proper batting balance. This is something management Must work on for next season if we are to progress.
