Was looking at booking Premier Inn Croydon town centre (cheap and cheerful)...Is it an ok area to stay or is there better value out there...31.50 for my self and my son seems great value

It's a decent enough Premier Inn and it has a shop underneath. The bar is cosy enough too. For that rate you won't get anywhere cheaper or more convenient as East Croydon station literally next door.

You will be within seconds of the new "box park", flat whites, buttermilk fried chicken and venison burgers all round.

Not going to get better value. It's perfectly reasonable place to stay for one night if going to a game. I assume you are flying into gatwick?

I would think the other option would be to stay at gatwick itself if that is the case but it won't be as cheap.

Good Choice and good Value.

Just don't get too drunk and let any Welsh footballers into the room

I've stayed in a few hotels in Croydon and never managed better value than that. Plus it is really convenient for East and West Croydon and travelling to the match.

I would have stayed in london then. All be it for nothing like the money you are staying in croydon for though.

Premier Inn is one of the safer bets. Fairly new as well. Just be thankful you didn't book easyHotel.

Don't think the January fixtures have been confirmed yet. Fingers crossed for you this one doesn't get moved for TV.

Stayed in the Kensington EasyHotel twice. Apart from being the size of an in-flight toilet (which they clearly advertise) it was perfectly fine. Dirt cheap for London as well.

Anyone remember those capsule things they use in Japan that were featured in a Clive James programme? They look way better than those Easy Hotel boxes. My mate stayed in one in Kensington and sneaked his old man and cousin in, they couldn't completely stretch their legs out and they are only about 5.9ft!

It's ok and functional. Breakfast is pretty basic but there's enough of it.

they were showing some Victorian lodging house on tv last night, which offered a place on a wooden bench, next to other blokes, but with the added comfort of a rope across the bench to stop you falling forward if you actually dropped off
