seeing this on BBC site rang a bell and I think he was at Palace in late 50s

Tony Collins was signed from Watford in the 57/58 season and stayed two seasons scoring 14 goals in 55 games. He left for Rochdale and went on to manage them for 7 years from 1960. (Thank you Wiki). I remember him as a somewhat gangling attacking winger in a side including Jack Edwards,Vic Rouse, Len Choules, Johnny McNicol, Mike Deakin and the great Johnny Byrne.
