Been to both with Palace before but Sutton United would be epic, kind of on a par with Tooting in the 70s and I'd love to visit the absolute shithole that is Kenilworth Road probably for the last time just for old times sake.

Is I suppose the correct answer (especially as I couldn't make the Youth Cup game there last season), but no-one I know apart from Ian King has seen Palace play at Rochdale (early 70s League Cup apparently) so that also has to be on the shortlist

I selfishly want a home tie against unattractive opposition that means the game will be on the Saturday and no problem getting tickets. It's our last full day in London so if we could squeeze in a second home game after Swansea it'd be great. We'll obviously now draw Sunderland away.

Brentford away before they move to their new stadium
Sutton Utd away or home
Brighton at home (Nothings ever going to top that play off semi at their place so no need to go back)
Millwall at home
Forest away (Always a cracking away day!)
Leeds away
AFC Wimbledon home or away
Blackpool away and donate our split of the gate money to their supporters trust as a two finger salute to the Oyston family.
Halifax away (HUGE terrace)
Oldham away
Port Vale away

After typing all that however i just know it will be bloody Southampton again or another uninspiring all premier league tie.

We have an absolutely abysmal record at Bolton. We won our last league match in our promotion season but before that went at least 17 league matches without a win going back to 64/65 with just one League Cup win in 80/81 to break the run.

Surely they'd choose Man Utd for the BBC Friday night slot (their FA cup games have been on live tv for the last 50 or so consecutive ties)

Liverpool - Plymouth (assuming Newport go out in replay) just because Klopp is good tv

West Ham v Man City (City get double the allocation which has potential to wind up disgruntled Hammers fans)

Everton v Leicester (surely more watchable than Bolton-Palace)

Providing it stays at Saturday 3:00 I will go.

I do have a feeling they will put in on TV. Sutton v Wimbledon won't be shown because of the lack of viewing figures. It would have been a good TV choice for rounds one or two.

:-)... It was certainly a strange way to describe a ground that is 2 and half train ride from london and then another half an hour on local trains!

It gives us a chance to progress but from a supporting perspective it's about as bad a draw as it gets.

It terms of arranging travel. Does the game have to have a result? I am sure i read somewhere that replays might get the chop.

Joe.L

I agree this could be a possible for BT Sport. They like an All-premier game so the likely choices are Wham v Citeh or Eve v Leic, but they also love a Premier League team away to a lower league team and there's not many to choose from apart from us: Arse at Prest nailed on for BBC, Millwall v Bournemouth, and Norwich v Southampton. So more possible than some are making out I'd say.

Dorking .Eagle
09-12-2016, 06:32 AM
The BBC gets hardly any live games in any competitions these days, so when they do, they use rounds 1 and 2 for 'magic of the cup' type ties, then as soon as they can (R3), they cover the main 'big teams'

Even BT can't resist it - when they have to negotiate their 'picks' with Sky, they are limited to how many 'top picks' they can have, so the cup is a free for all where they get to pick anything, and so will go for whatever they think will get the biggest tv audience - and to be honest more people nationally would watch Man United or Liverpool (against anyone) than Sutton against Wimbledon. 15 minutes of edited highlights of the latter is enough for most people is the reality.

Precisely. It's all about ratings in a TV landscape that is experiencing year on year ratings declines. Live sport is one of the biggest ratings drawers, especially on free to air TV, so broadcasters aim for the mainstream mass market/armchair fan. Showing Man U or Liverpool adds a couple of million to your viewing figures
