Since Giroud scored a worldy yesterday, it got me thinking about the best goals scored against us.

I'm talking about goals which are so good that you simply have to tip your hat to them.

For instance:

Fulham goal in Holloways last game.
Shearers 2 goals on his Blackburn debut.

What are the best goals that you have seen scored against us?

Danuge scored a great Ricky Villa type goal against us in the FA Cup for Preston.

Giroud just stuck his foot out and got lucky.

Kasami's was the best I've ever seen against us, and doubt it'll get beaten. Matt Phillips' long shot for QPR was pretty nice too, as was Gallagher's 2nd when we lost 3-0 at Leicester.

George Graham for Arsenal at Selhurst Park November 1st 1969.

The goal was so good ITV's World of Sport used it as part of the opening title sequence the following year.

The Nugent goal sprang to mind straight away but the defending was poor.

Kasami's was incredible.

Bournemouth @ Selhurst when they beat us 3-2 in 1989. No idea of the scorer but it was at the Whitehorse end and was a thundercracker. Many home fans applauded it

The Bournemouth one was good in 89. It was doubly stunning as they steamed into a 3-0 lead, they really are a bogey team for us. Didn't a certain Pulis play for Bournemouth that day too
The QPR one a couple of years ago wasn't bad either

Sure it was O'Connor that got the stunner. They played us off the park to go 3 up and we got it back to 3-2 .Day of the Purley rail crash.

Tony Popovics goal against Pompey still the best by a mile. The Fulham one where he chests it down on the run and buddied it in to the top corner was probably the best goal I've seen against us at Selhurst.

Here it is. Aside from the poor quality, there's some interesting characters apart from Gazza that get a mention. Alan Pardew of course having his early effort ruled out. Neil McDonald, who was Dowie's assistant at Palace and has been mooted for a return under Allardyce, and that's current Norwich manager Michael O'Neill getting rather unfairly slated for missing a header. The main event described as "one of St James' greatest ever". High praise indeed and who are we to argue. George Wood's last ever game for Palace and it looks like he didn't disgrace himself.

Bartram equalised for 1-1. I was in the Arthur Wait enclosure just about level with Graham when he let fly.

Alan Shearer scored a couple of absolute belters against us for Blackburn on the opening day of the season in the early 90's.

More recently the Ali one last season wasn't a bad goal by any means.

That Gascoigne goal was brilliant. About 8 of us went up in a transit with no seats in the back, got followed miles out of Newcastle by a couple of car loads of Newcastle skinheads we was going to open the back doors and lob a few empty bottles of beer at them

Some good ones mentioned - esp the Hopkins o.g. v Millwall which I had a great view of! Also meant I had a great view of Brighty's 87th minute winner as well that day!

I'll throw a new one in which springs to mind. Beardsley 94th minute winner against us to win it 1-0 in autumn '94 when I thought Newcastle would go on to win the league that year.

Just thought of another. The very first goal in front of the new Holmesdale from that odious lump of manure - Lee Bowyer in Aug '95. Actually it's one of those points you can argue as we'd played our opener in front of the stand but it wasn't quite finished so there were no fans in it, so I think this counts as the first goal. Thankfully we got back to draw 1-1 thanks to some smart play from Tony Scully with what turned out to be the only assist of his Palace career.
