It was Palace-Newcastle at Selhurst in the League Cup. Warnock managed Palace, Pardew managed Newcastle. AJ made his solitary 'comeback' appearance that night. Kai Kai got a late goal to take it to extra time and then the draw happened - some plonker put it up on the big screen that the winners would play Man City. Unsuprisingly Palace then crumbled.

Accrington Stanley away would have been a brilliant draw... so was never going to happen. Our Lower division/non league rare away day quota for the next decade was used up when we got Dover. Although to be fair at least we got a home tie. Boro or City away would have been very grim.

What is it with us and crap cup draws. We are normally away. On the rare occasions we are at home it's a Premier League club. The wankers on the other hand either get a home draw or a low ranked team away!

Far too many quitters amongst us. Big Mal will be turning in his grave. Lets get past Bolton and get at City. 11 v 11 on the day, we have done the big shock before we can do it again. Lets get the Fedora's out for City.

FA cup winners and 15th in the league (of above) will be just perfect.

Bolton will be really up for a home tie against City, blessing in disguise if they knock us out.

I am very close to thinking it's for the best all round if they get that. The only slight doubt for me is the small hope that man city at home isn't loads harder than spurs away and we all know where that ended up. Mind you I think when the ball hits one post rolls along the goal line hits the other and bounces out. You get the impression we have had more than our share of FA cup fortune.

If we beat City and go on a cup run watch everyone start caring then and worrying about tickets.

We can beat City in a one off game.

Yep really don't agree with the increasing trend to write off games that has set in ( even though there maybe some justification) it's not the palace way.

The perfect draw for where we sit in the table currently, as our main priority is League survival without the distraction of a Cup run to worry about, if this was a draw against a team that allowed us the chance to progress, then a Cup run is welcomed as it is good for morale. However, providing we put up a battling performance we can go out heads held high as we were expected to lose the game regardless.

We had to wait a long time to get reading away.. which is the best fa cup draw we have had in years (someone will correct me but my memory is rubbish).
Dover was fun. But getting Reading in a quarter-final was very lucky considering who else we could have got.

In fairness we had drawn Premier League opposition in all previous rounds, so that luck was probably due.

What are the chances of the this game being on tele and as a result not the 3pm Saturday? Looking through the list of games I would say there is a chance.

56th televised fa cup game on the trot for the WANKERS

Disgusting waste of the licence fee. We should all write in.

"Dear Points of View, I face palmed once more as you opted to televise The Wankers for the 56th time on the trot. You cheap sellout ass licking *****, if you want them so bad and think they are worth it then turn 'motd' into 'man u otd'. Wankers."

Who cares we are also already out. The only thing left of interest is to see if the bolton game can be a record low attendance.

I cannot see many caring now we know what awaits.

No it's a cheap game to take the kids. Welcome in today's era.

You might be right, given the Prem midweek fixtures. City play on the Weds, but with us away at Bournemouth on the Tues it would seem that if we are selected it'd be Friday evening or Saturday lunch / evening. As United are the only team above (save City) that play on the following Wednesday (everyone else is on the Tuesday) you'd have to say they're nailed on for one of the Sunday slots.

If we get through...

Before people start on about it's City at Selhurst perhaps we should remember that we've got to get past Bolton which I for one do not expect us to do and which frankly will not be a catastrophe

Bolton will certainly be up for it, the fourth round draw is almost perfect for them.

If a tree falls in the woods and there is no one there to hear it does it make a sound?

We could try denying it happened.

Not especially bothered as
- we've not actually got through to the 4th round yet (and might not!)
- we're at home

But FFS, can the tv companies not just hurry up and choose their tv fixtures? We had this for the whole cup run last year - a whole week sometimes to make their minds up while fans (particularly away fans) can't book anything. Especially as the cup these days seems to last from Friday night through to the following Monday. Bunch of arse.

It's a compliment...us beating City is no longer viewed as a giant killing, whereas if Bolton manage it, then that's a big shock!

Joking aside, maybe we couldn't play Sunday at short notice because they'd then need to move our Tuesday match at Bournemouth (at short notice).

"That game will be followed on BBC One at 16:00 GMT by either Crystal Palace or Bolton against Manchester City, or Manchester United v Wigan Athletic."

Have the Sun got it wrong then?

'If Crystal Palace win their replay at Selhust Park, then their potential all Premier League tie at home to Manchester City will be chosen.
However, if the League One side wins, then their meeting with City will NOT be screened – ensuring United will still be on the box.'

Also from The Sun:

Bolton/Crystal Palace vs Manchester City (4pm, Sun Jan 29, BBC)**In the event that Bolton Wanderers are eliminated in their third round replay on Tuesday 17 January, Manchester United v Wigan Athletic will automatically become selected and broadcast live in this slot

So, The Sun have contradicted themselves in the same article. Quality.
