Harder to punch Warner back now with the added responsibility and all.

And here I was thinking he should be knighted if he did.

I think so. I hope he can handle the pressure and his batting doesn't suffer.

Stokes or maybe Broad were the only other candidates really.

Good that Stokes has been made Vicey. Two aggressive positive players - should be an exciting ride.

We still need that World Class spinner and need to find Jimmy's replacement in the next year.

He'll get stokes to do it.

"LovePalace", I know you responded to me, but I can't see your posts :)

Can't view your neg rep as you're on my ignore list, but it was a shit troll nonetheless.

I wondered why the cricket thread wasn't used.

No doubt a separate thread required to cope with the ballistic rate of responses.

Mike Brearley would've been a better choice IMHO.

Did we really have any other alternatives that were of proven quality? It is a gamble in the sense of how it may effect his batting with the added responsibility now.
I hope they give him the chance to bring in the "young brigade" and allow development of an exciting group over the next Two years, coupled with his brand of exciting bold leadership would be something to look forward too, i hope the Board have the foresight and courage to go for it.
Best of luck Joe Root.

Think he is an excellent choice. In all the teams on merit. Tough. Can look after himself. Struck a perfect note when invited recently to question an umpires decision at a press conference. I believe he he can lead from no 3 in the order. I too wish him luck
