Has anybody ever used Crewe station for away trips to Anfield, the Etihad and/or Old Trafford? Relatively easy access from the M6 and only 30-45 minutes from there to the city centres.

No idea if this is a sensible plan. Any advice?

If your driving that far, might as well drive the whole way . All grounds mentioned are quite easy to get away from.

I usually drive to Manchester from Liverpool and get parked ok. I would suggest for Liverpool driving and parking in the city center (lots of car parks) and then get the bus or a cab.

Trains from Crewe to Liverpool and Manchester are very frequent but agree with other posts that by the time you drive that far you might as well park in the city. Plus the Liverpool game you'll have to deal with Sunday service.

A warning for anybody thinking of of coming into Liverpool via Chester or The Wirral via Birkenhead on Merseytrail that the Mersey rail tunnels will be closed for engineering work requiring bus transfers.

Slight tangent but just back in the UK after 6 months away, any idea if there are any tickets for Lpool left?
