View Full Version : Jimmy White's career is over :(

Jimmy White just lost in the qualifiers for the world championship. This meant he is now off the snooker tour and it's the end of his career.

It's a long time since he won anything but still sad. His losses in six world finals are probably the most painful sport losses for me. It was so close so many times, not least missing an easy black in the last frame at 17-17.

Yep. Except Jimmy is likeable.

When he lost to Higgins and the incredible 69 break, he was just a kid and I guess everyone thought he would go on to win multiple world titles. Arguably he was the most talented player of his generation, sitting in between Davis and Hendry in age.

If he had even 10% of the mental strength of either of those two, he would have won at least one world title.

Such a shame. He's part of the pro group that practice in Frames in Coulsdon.

Not sure about Henman there. Always thought he overachieved relative to the talent that he had.

I poured a few pints for Jimmy in my four months as a bartender.
Nice bloke. :p

I met him and Steven Hendry at one of the legends matches. Steven Hendry was actually much more amenable.

That was the last chance to get ranking points this season was it?

Can he reapply and play in a "satellite" tour from which players graduate to the pro tour/ladder/ranking?

Admittedly, at that age you don't really see someone coming back...
