Many of you will remember Terry Turner, lifelong Palace fan who passed away last June after fighting pancreatic cancer. His last match was the Cup Final (which also happened to be his birthday).

Mitcham Cricket Club - TT's local team - has kindly agreed to host a charity event to help fundraising efforts for Pancreatic Cancer UK. They have lent us their square and pavilion for Saturday 22 April (the bar will also be open).

Whether to play, spectate or donate it would be great to have any Palace fans who want to get involved - whether you knew the big man or not - involved. More information here - any players who are looking for a pre-season friendly then please do get in touch on here or on the event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1493967473979893/

To help raise funds I'm also running the London Marathon the day after the cricket (missing the trip to Anfield unfortunately). If you can't make it to Mitcham but would like to donate you can do so here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JamesMcCollum

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read/support/donate/attend - and Mods please do let me know if this breaks any rules/should be posted elsewhere.etc.

James

The teams are being confirmed and teamsheets issued this weekend.

Given the nature of the event and the strong CPFC connections I just wanted to check whether any more BBS cricketers were interested in playing. Let me know on here or on the event page by Saturday (hopefully after 3 points!) if you are keen to get involved.

Thanks all for your support!

Final update on the game tomorrow - given the split of players it will be a TT Charities XI vs a Newham Cricket Club XI. Hats off to the Newham lads for coming all the way from E6.

Look forward to seeing people there! Thanks for people's generous support.

Saw the start of the game this morning. It's now a 30 over game.

Kiralyspyjamas (my son) managed to burgle a wicket with one of his 'vicious' dambusteresque bouncing balls.

If you can, get down there today. There's loads of food that has been prepared. It is in great cause.

Thank you so much for coming along and also for your donation - much appreciated :p

Was a fantastic day - thanks to Adam (kiralyspyjamas) for playing and to all those who attended.

Newham Cricket Club ended up winning having scored 169 off their 30 overs. The Charities XI gave it a good go but didn't make it - their innings also saw a player have to retire hurt which has now seen them go to A&E..!

A few pics below. All in all a successful day with 680 raised for Pancreatic Cancer UK and St John Ambulance.

Thanks for all your support. There is still time to donate too! http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JamesMcCollum

Brilliant day! Super cricket, food and the funniest raffle I've ever been involved in (sure all those prizes are for work people JKM? ;)). TT would have taken the mick out of my bowling and loved the spirit of the day in general. Top day JKM cheers!
