Leicester are the club that rely on clappers for atmosphere how could you want them to do well.

They are the complete opposite of Palace and hyped to the hilt although Brighton will now run them close on that front.

Odious club and fans.

It was offside, clearly shown on BT Sport, but the sort of thing you could let the ref off for if it was an isolated decision, as opposed to an incorrect decision to add to the other five. As for Marcelo no idea why, but he was the best player on the pitch IMO.

based on twitter, that's exactly what their supporters think
And the stark unromantic reality is that getting points against us was more important than the champions league. Fair play to them.

I really doubt it, when are Leicester going to have the opportunity to get to a semi of the champions league again. For all the teams to overtake Leicester in the prem was a remote outcome so for the sake of one point they have possibly forgone something they will never be able to do again. should have rested players.

Actually make that three if you count Vidal's soft sending off. God that red was shite (or corrupt...) :D

Blatantly so. Looked like he was in the pay of someone to get Real through.

Marcelo is an outstanding full back, if I could just have one of those jackasses at Palace, I think it would be him.

I'd bloody love Carvajal

plus Bale, Modric, Ronaldo etc etc etc...

Random question from last nights game. Why do Atletico have a bear looking up a tree as part of the club badge?

the City of Madrid has Bear and the Tree motif, so that'll be why.

As to why the City of Madrid has it, that is another question!! Berlin also has a bear deeply involved in it's badge so maybe it is "thing"

Because it's a "Madro˝o" tree, or arbutus - the fruit is sometimes known as the "Irish strawberry". There was a dispute in the thirteenth century between the clergy and the citizens over property of some of the land of Madrid, eventually the clergy got the grazing land and the citizens got the arbutus orchards.
There used to be a lot of brown bears in Madrid and they became a symbol of the place. Supposedly they would get pissed in the fruits of the arbutus, which ferment on the tree.

Atletico Madrid are clearly a better side and proved it over 2 legs.Leicester were excellent in the 2nd half of the 2nd leg which made for a good game, but ultimately lost to a team that is probably better than anything the Premier League has to offer right now.No amount of resting anyone would have changed that. The fact that they played better towards the end of the tie suggests they weren't exactly tired.

I was pleased to see them throw the kitchen sink last night. With a little more luck, they might have gone through.

Madrid were unsettled. What a class header that was though.

You should be proud, it's an incredible story. Though, obviously, I was supporting Atleti and called your players all sorts on Saturday and yesterday.
Why do you have so many weasel faces in the team, by the way?

Lets talk about fan culture instead....Atletico ultras were tweeting all sorts in the run up to the game, stabbing Leicester fans and burning our pubs.....well it was all going well for them in the afternoon flaunting their hooligan banners around town....unfortunately for them they had to pass our pub on the way back to the fanzone.......I think it took the wind out of their sails somewhat...........prior to this there was plenty of mixing between both sets of fans......until the ultras put in an appearance......and once and for all,not all of us use those silly clackers and you certainly won't see any on Leicester away days.

Yes the pre-match display was reminiscent of Chelsea's early forays into the champions league around the turn of the millennium when the fans all dutifully waved the club supplied blue and white flags as though they were at a North Korean military rally.

I don't want to be too harsh on Leicester as I work in the city and know a lot of genuine old school fans, but under their billionaire Thai owners there is a bit of a credibility gap emerging what with the clackers, nicking the poznan off Man City, groundsman with his stupid ornate pitch markings, crowd noise through the speakers etc. I think they have stopped the latter now but perhaps if they stopped trying too hard?

Harry Bassett
19-04-2017, 03:08 PM
While the clackers may be irritating, I think Leicester have done very well over the last couple of years and some seem now a bit resentful of that fact.

Personally I cannot abide Huth or Simpson but Leicester1 always comes across on here as a decent bloke and to my mind even though banter is part of the game which he probably takes in his stride (cut him some slack) I prefer the type of support he offers and friendship he displays.

Duck for cover now!

Was happy for them until our away game there this season, being told to "stand up for your champions" alongside the happy clappers was too much. Chanting about Gibralter while tearing up a really nice part of a Beautiful City made me want Atleti to win even more.

Caeser.....Heil......there was only one spot of trouble in Madrid....that was in the Plaza Mayor.....it was in response to the battering our fans had took the previous night,Tuesday and came a few weeks after after the same thing had happened in Seville...the trouble was short and aimed at the police ....I didn't see any tearing up/vandalism.....a few pubs near the Atletico ground were visited by their ultras where our fans were happily mixing with the home fans....and the ultras were told to do one by their own supporters.....I'm afraid if Palace ever get into Europe ...and I sincerely hope you do get the experience...your in for a rude awakening......
