I'm not Hennessey's greatest fan...but a goalkeeper that's unwanted by a team who have just gotten promoted doesn't seem like a sensible target for us

He's also not a very good one for the level we're aiming to be at, i.e. top flight mid-table. Hennessey v2.0.

If we go down, and Hennessey walks or is let go, then the conversation changes.

Agreed he's not a top keeper, I think I described him as not bad. I personally think he's better than Hennessey, so if we were to sell WH/SM and bring in Stockdale plus a number 1, we'd be in hugely better shape than now. What annoys me is the blinkered attitude that a player is shit because he plays for Brighton. Banter, yes, intelligence, no.

We're meant to be looking at a long term manager, a signing like this isn't progressive for me. Is Stockdale good enough for the top flight? IMO I'd say no. From some of the pictures I've seen he looks overweight, and the thought of Hennessey and Stockdale challenging for the no 1 jersey is completely underwhelming.

It's a strange move by Palace IF true as he is no better than Hennessey and that is what we should be aiming for as our First choice keeper.
What it could be (i hope) is WH is sold to raise funds, Stockdale is brought in as reserve, and a genuine upgrade is brought in as First choice, or am i being too optimistic (ha ha).
It is very disappointing if DS is to be the main man, when we read Bournemouth replace a keeper who had been outstanding last season for them with Begovic a true upgrade, now that is showing ambition Mr Parish the sort we should be showing.

Has received plenty of plaudits since he joined Brighton, I don't remember Hennessey getting acolades before he joined us and he's turned out to be bang average.

I'd love for us to get a top keeper as I'd still wish for slightly better than Stockdale but taking off the red 'n' blue tinted glasses, he's better than WH.

Simply being better than Hennessey isn't saying much. He still isn't all that and not good enough to be a starter for a consolidated Premier League team.

I would be saying the same whether he was at Fulham, Norwich, Leeds or Brighton. He's still not very Good!

Speroni (yes I know he came to us originally in the Prem but what a disastor that was at the time!), Ward, Delaney, Wilf, Yannick, Murray etc. were all Championship players before they came up...

Did you see any of his performances out of interest? He single handily won Brighton a lot of points this season, was terrific for them. Goalkeeping is not like a striker who can score 20 goals in the Championship and then be Patrick Bamford!
